Venture Management is a very unprofessional, unfriendly, and poorly run company. They are extremely lazy and cheap when it comes to maintenance and repairs. Here are some of the problems I had to deal with:
- Poor and/or dated caulking around both sinks, the bathtub, and windows led to mold and mildew issues, which were never properly cleaned and sanitized. It took a letter to the city to get proper caulking, the mildew cleaned, and the rotted, moldy wood replaced.
- Leaky shower faucet, which caused my energy bill to spike until it got fixed, because it was constantly leaking hot water.
- The handle to open the horizontal sliding window was missing. The window also had no lock on it, so anyone could've broken into my apartment by sliding the window open. When a handle was installed, the piece holding the handle to the window started coming unglued within a few weeks.
- The closet smelled like cigarette smoke, which in turn caused my clothes to smell like smoke.
- The poor insulation/narrow space between the floors forced me to listen to every step taken and every word uttered by the people above me. I could hear the residents on either side of me as well, which makes you wonder how many of your conversations other residents can hear...
- The drain and drain cover in the kitchen sink were completely rusted through and had to be replaced shortly after moving in.
- Every time I opened the front door, I had to jiggle the handle several times in order for it to open. This old, beaten up door handle was another obvious problem that should have been addressed before I ever moved in.
- After writing the city, they finally followed through on some of my requests for repairs, but even then, Venture Management didn't put my furniture or rugs back in place. They also dumped leftover varnish in my bathtub without cleaning it up.
I read a review by "The M." After my experience with this company, I believe every word of it. I shared some of my problems with other residents at the apartment complex, and ALL three people I talked to had their own horror stories about the place. I can't stress this enough: Do NOT waste your time, money, or energy with any dwelling operated by Venture Management. You will regret it. If you do not heed my advice, then please jot down the following information to the city of Des Moines - trust me, you'll need it:

I would also recommend you:
1. Take pictures and/or video to document your dwelling before moving anything into it.
2. Make sure all of your requests to Venture Management are typed out and sent to their email - refrain from verbal requests that they can claim were never made and written requests that they can claim were never received. This will also verify the date of your request. Their email is info@venturellc.com
3. Write the city when the landlords fail to properly fix your problem(s). They will then send a notice to Venture Management. Once they send the notice, Venture Management will have two weeks to repair your reported problems.
4. Call the city if Venture Management doesn't fix your dwelling properly within those two weeks, and they will send inspectors out.
