Had the best time! So great for families - nice combination of resort and nature and so many activities

What a fun place for children ! this was our first time visiting the KOA. It was Fourth of July not a lot of people which is perfect. Lots of kids running around people having fun . I brought four grandkids. My grandkids are aged from five to 11. The older ones did zip Line, and they all went hiking dug for treasure , swimming and went into the creek and bounce on the jumper . It is beautiful. We stayed at one of there TEEPEEs !! Everyone here is so nice helpful !! my kids enjoyed themselves very much ! The weather was beautiful lots of arts and crafts so much to do here. Prices are reasonable for the Teepees cabins and other rooms ! I will definitely come back.

Jesse made a ramp for my son to enter the cabin!

First off... I booked the "wheelchair accessible" cabin. For those who are wheelchair users, please know that this cabin is NOT wheelchair accessible. My son was unable to get up the concrete ramp to the cabin because of the 2" gap from the dirt to the rap, and once he maneuvered through the mud to get up the ramp, we discovered that he couldn't enter the cabin due to the 2" lip from the patio to the cabin. The cabin itself is narrow so wheelchairs are not able to access the bathrooms or bedrooms. The only area he could access was the kitchen/dining/living room area. If the sofa could convert to a bed, that could've been an option for him, but since it didn't, we are lucky that my son is still small enough for us to lift and carry to the bedroom to sleep. I contacted Carol at the registration office about not being able to access our cabin, and she sent maintenance over. Special shout out to Jesse from maintenance who worked in the rain and was able to quickly create ramps for my son to get his wheelchair up the ramp & inside our cabin. Besides the non-accessible cabin, my family enjoyed our weekend getaway here! The cabin itself is clean, comfortable, fully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, and has a great view of the hills. There's really low water pressure so expect it to take a long time to wash your dishes. Luckily the shower had decent water pressure! Every staff member we encountered was super nice, and we enjoyed the activities like the labyrinth maze, the mini hiking trail/BMX bike trail, the gem mining, and most of all the zip lining/rope course. I love the teepees and wagon accommodations they have on site, would love to stay in one of those in the future! There's a creek down the way which you can go play in or just sit and enjoy looking and listening to the water. Peacocks also roam around the property and mostly come out in the morning if you want to see them. The only suggestions I would make is to have true ADA compliant cabins, and to have some kind of activities scheduled everyday rather than every other day, and having activities at night would be fun too.

They have a long buffet style table; perfect to place food.

We had a great time; a group of about 40 rented Cabins and tent sites. We do a group trip every year. On my review I will just post the Clubhouse experience. The clubhouse is perfect for your large group. KOA will need to provide BBQ grills as the current grill does not work. I will post pictures so you can see. Overall, the space is great and lots of room inside and out. There are about 8 round tables with about 50 chairs. I gave it a four because BBq needs to be available at all times.

I had the pleasure of staying at Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday in Santa Paula, California, from July 1 through July 4, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff, from maintenance to management, was absolutely magnificent. Their generous, high-quality customer service truly made my stay unforgettable. The ranch itself is an adorable, beautiful, and picturesque location. Despite a last-minute booking as I wasn't able to stay at the original main cabin and decided to stay on my own, I was fortunate enough to secure a cabin, thanks to the incredibly accommodating staff. The registration office is stocked with everything you might need if you happen to forget your essentials. They offer eggs, bread, milk, water, hotdogs, canned food, seasonings, plates, and charcoal. Despite having only my bag of clothes and personal hygiene items, I was able to get by comfortably thanks to their well-stocked store. I'm currently enjoying my stay immensely. The cabin is cozy, with an spectacular view from my front deck where I can do yoga, inside I found a sweet treat an electric fireplace and I'm about to embark on my 2nd time for some zip lining and tackle the obstacle course again, as well as take a dip in the beautiful pool. The property also offers great trails for hiking, and the scenery is nothing short of stunning. One delightful surprise was the presence of wild peacocks that live on the property. They are gorgeous, and it's a beautiful sight to see them walking freely around, sometimes even coming to your front door as you enjoy your morning meal. What truly stands out to me is the kindness, professionalism, and empathy shown by everyone at the ranch from maintenance to management. It shows leadership is outstanding. I think I teared up at their kindness due to my situation. Their support has left a lasting impact on me. I highly recommend this amazing campground, whether you're looking to rent an RV, experience camping in a teepee, bring your own tent, or stay in a wood cabin like I did. The scenery is gorgeous, and the overall experience is one I will never forget. Thank you, Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday, thank you KOA staff family for your outstanding service and for providing such a wonderful, serene, and beautiful place to stay for me it truly made a huge difference to encounter kindness. Highly, highly recommended! ClauLi W. Indianapolis IN

We love camping here at Ventura Ranch KOA and thoroughly enjoy the zipline/Ropes course! The bounce pad is really fun for the kids and the pool is great too!

This was an amazing course. Kids had a wonderful time. Fun and challenging. Nothing but smiles. Highly recommended. And very safe!!!

For nearly $300 a night (on a week day) I'd expect the "luxury" cabins to be more taken care of.

Copy and pasting the email my mother sent to the KOA on July 11th with no response. I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the KOA Ventura Ranch Campground from July 9-11. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected, and I would like to bring several issues to your attention in the hope that they can be addressed to prevent future guests from facing similar problems. 1. **Air conditioners not Cooling**: we arrived on July 9 with a 3 cabin rental in which two of the cabins air conditioners didn't work. We contacted the front desk and they sent out maintenance with portable air conditioners. The portable air conditioners barely cooled the living space (down to approximately 84 degrees) but did not cool the loft area or the bedrooms where we would be sleeping. 2. ** no activities for small children.** I brought with me five of my grandchildren, 7 year-old, (2) 6 year-olds, 4 year-old and 2 1/2 year-old and the only activities that were available for them to do during our stay was gold mining, a very hot balloon pillow, hot spider infested Swing set and the swimming pool. You will see my future complaints about those activities, there should be more activities throughout the day at a KOA campground for families to enjoy with small children. 3. **bathroom sewage**: after arriving Tuesday afternoon for our vacation the only activities that were available for us to do was the swimming pool. Upon entering the swimming pool, there were two maintenance workers working on a sewage spill where black fecal matter was coming up out of the manhole cover 5 feet from the swimming pool. The maintenance men proceeded to hose down the horrible smelling sewer smell as we tried to enjoy, our swimming experience. We heard the men say do not let this get into the swimming pool. As you can imagine our faces were at the same level as the sewage spill coming from the bathrooms. The pool was very dirty and not well maintained. The pool chairs were dirty and had spider webs on them. 4. **Gold mining**: on Wednesday day two of our vacation we decided to do the only activity that was available for the young children, which was gold mining. If we begin at 10:30 AM. We arrived on site at 10:25 and there were approximately five other children and four adults waiting for the activity to start. There was a woman dressed in a yellow KOA shirt with her daughter on site and the woman could not figure out how to get the water to pump. She was on the phone with maintenance and he was trying to walk her through how to start the generator. After she hung up, she said that he would be there as soon as he could, and that he was the only maintenance person that had came into work today and he was the supervisor. But first he had to deal with , an investigation with the sheriff and then he would be down to help figure out what the problem was with the water. While waiting, we decided to take the kids over to the hot balloon jump, which got old very quick and after 30 minute delay the maintenance man finally showed up and with a push of one button the water began to pour. I feel that this was very unprofessional, and the staffing although very nice was inadequate. The campground knows how many campers they had and should've staffed adequately. The accumulation of these issues significantly impacted the quality of my stay and left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Considering that our family spent over $1800 for a two-night stay, which is the prices you'd get at a luxury hotel or somewhere that the price covered countless amenities this was a terrible experience.

They claim that only six people are allowed per campsite, but there was a 30+ party blasting music until just before midnight.

It may be by now. It wasn't open on Eastee

How's the wifi? Husband needs to telework

    Not great

Are you able to fish in the creek?

Sorry, there are not any fish in the creek.

    Is this park Dog friendly?

Yes, been going there for years.

Is the campground so big I need a golf cart to get around?

It is pretty big oark and gold carts are very useful here. The employees drive them to get around. And if you are camping in the sights up top it is definitely nice to have a cart since all of the activities and pool are down at the bottom.

We got our rv spot in Alder site for Thanksgiving weekend. Any tips you can share will be appreciated?

Here, you will stay in a trailer (possibly an Airstream or something like an Airstream) and you are probably a 10 minute walk to the beach. Beat that. If you have ever stayed in a trailer, you know it's tight quarters. But you get your own kitchen and bathroom and it's a heckuva lot more fun than a bland, stale hotel room. The site has firepits. Even better, they give you complimentary s'more kits with all the fixings. They have BBQs for grilling. They give you cookies and yogurt in the morning. They even give you oranges so you can squeeze your own orange juice. I don't drink orange juice normally but the juice here was outstanding. They have books and games available for borrowing. They have hammocks and swings and picnic tables. They have bikes for free rental. They have freshly-baked cookies that are delicious. There is apple cider and hot chocolate. There are a lot of amenities here which you simply will not find at most hotels. The train runs right by here and it's loud and shocking at first but it doesn't come by that often and you get used to it. Inside the trailer, aside from the train, the grounds are extremely quiet. This is a fun place and something different. The location is great and you get a lot of value for your money.

The good: decent spacing between sites, close proximity to things to do and amenities. During the entire seventh month day, we witnessed total lack of maintenance, security and safety in this park. There are two bath houses-one at the office and one at the center of the camp. The one at the office is maintained much better than the one at the center of the camp, which is the one most people find closest to use. These bathrooms are constantly out of toilet paper, are filthy, and for six months the three toilet ladies room has only had one toilet working. The men's room has water flowing over the floor most of the time-total safety issue. There is zero lighting at night near the bathrooms and people have fallen, it's a wonder they haven't been sued. There is no way to see where the sidewalk ends and the street starts. Even the camp host is extremely frustrated because they report these issues to the office and nothing is done. Several campers have complained to the office, and nothing is done. There was a resident here with two huge, very aggressive dogs and many of us complained about these dogs because they would lunge at people, including children when they went by and they would bark incessantly. The office actually lied and said no one has complained when we mentioned it to them because several neighbors informed us that they too complained long before we did. Staff can be very snarky when you present complaints and concerns. Just the fact that they don't care about our safety astound us. Warning - don't even chance arriving at night after dark because you will surely scrape your rig from the lack of maintenance to the trees along the roadway. One of our neighbors has deep gouges on his unit from this. The staff travels the wrong way on the roadway constantly, but don't you dare do it as a camper. Weeds everywhere. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The commissary and NEX were good sized and there were plenty of activities on and off base. Beaches were close. Maintenance staff and host were friendly and always seemed to be working on one thing or another. WI-Fi worked great. A negative -- Office staff ... not so friendly. UNDER CONSTRUCTION May 2025:…read more I am giving this RV park four stars for now in the hopes of the current construction improves this place. It was so rundown looking with weeds, broken pavement, and bad shower facilities. Water was left to run even in water-thirsty California. The Pros of this place though is absolutely the location. Right on the beach at the front and a wonderful bird/wildlife sanctuary in the "bay" area. There are consistently migrating and local birds in abundance. There are also sea lions that you can hear and see on the shores. The temperature weather here also makes it a good spot most of the year. Beware of the May gray, June gloom, etc. There are ample facilities on base also. Mini store, gas station, a couple of restaurants. but it is a bit far from either Port Hueneme or Camarillo - the closest towns. They also have bare bones yurts. These are great. They have two bunk beds, a heater, and tables. They also have bbq grills out front. These have a view of the bay. It's pretty no frills though but could be a great adventure for the family. Cons: Absolutely a huge con are the mosquitoes. They run around unchecked and are prolific. If you see people running from their cars into stores, buildings, etc., it is because of the mosquitoes. Winters you don't see them but come summertime, they are a mess. (This past summer of 2024 we saw very few.) Bring bug spray and sit closer to a fire. Bring a large fan also as that will keep the mosquitoes from landing on you. Overall, it's a great place to stay. It may be hard to get reservations.

I honestly can't say enough about how AMAZING this RV park is! We needed to be in Los Angeles on an…read moreongoing weekly basis and decided staying in our RV would be a much more cost effective option than finding a shared apartment or booking an Airbnb every week. BEST choice EVER once we found Hollywood RV Park! From the moment we pulled into the RV park, I could feel how different and special this place was. We were met by the owner, Steve, who is a Hollywood icon (and has the most amazing stories and personality!), who instantly took over to get our camper parked for us. Their complimentary valet service is second to none. Honestly, for US, it was such a welcome relief after braving the LA freeways. Steve has a great little towing tractor that hooks right up to the camper and off it goes to your site, safely and securely. It's a perfect situation. Steve knows every inch of his RV park (having built so much of it himself over the past decades), and he knows best how to easily slide your rig into the generous sites without you having to navigate it yourself. Steve has a never ending smile and welcomes you like you're family or a long lost friend that's come home again. Such a wonderful reception after a long drive. Then let's talk about the RV park itself. It couldn't be more conveniently located. Easy off the 405 and since it's on Balboa, you are on the perfect route for sneaking around the 405 traffic and over the hill on busy traffic times. Everything you need is within a few minutes drive and there's even a grocery store across the street if you want to walk to it. But the park itself is where the magic truly happens. It's a Shangri-la, to be honest. Every street named after a famous Hollywood street (or area) and decorated to make you feel like you've arrived at the Disneyworld of RV parks, with gorgeous artwork and sculptures and Hollywood props tastefully arranged throughout the park. There's a lot of wonderful trees and greenery, so it almost feels like you're outside of the L.A. when you're in the park. We loved nothing more than walking around the park and seeing all of the decor and the wonderful site amenities that long term residents have put on their sites. Speaking of, the personality of the community at the RV park is incredibly friendly and welcoming. People smile at you and welcome you. It almost has an old fashioned feel to it where people greet each other as they pass with smiles and nods, or little conversations if you're so inclined. And yet, you also maintain as much privacy as you want. We've stayed there now every week (for a few days a week) for the past several months and I love that we were able to maintain our privacy but also felt like a welcomed part of the community. It's a very nice balance. The hookups are very easy and well designed. For us, we chose to store our camper right at the park, and Steve arranged it all for us to make life very easy. We drive in on Tuesdays and there our camper is on the spot Steve assigned us for the week, and then later in the week, we close the camper up, unhook, etc. and lock it up and leave it and Steve handles it from there. It couldn't be easier. I also think the pricing is VERY fair. When we compared doing Airbnb's long term or even renting a room in someone's apartment, there was no chance we could come close to beating what it costs to keep our camper at Hollywood RV Park and camping there a few nights a week. I honestly can't say enough about it. This is a very special place, run by a staff of incredible people. And Steve is a true gem. A legend in his own time. I feel lucky to have found it.

I'm rating and reviewing the section of the campground that I camped at. I did not get to check…read moreout the entire day visit area or the rest of the campsites. My campsite was #14. I was with a group so all of us were able to have this cul-de-sac area to ourselves. Just a few available sites, but they were not occupied while we were there. As you pull into the campground you will find a kiosk to pay for the day visit. There is no check-in area for campers. You just go to your site and rangers or camp host will make their rounds and check at that time if you have reservations. I had to call because I had no clue what to do or where to go. As it turns out there is a sign for campers as you turn the corner to enter the property, that campers turn right. I was looking straight as I pulled in so I completely missed that. As you enter the park visitors will go left and campers will go off to the right. Most of us arrived on Thursday so the campground was pretty quiet (month of Jan). I was towing a teardrop trailer, I've gotten much better at backing in so it was not a problem. Some of the sites near me made it easy for some to just pull-thru. Not far from me were the restrooms/showers and also the camp host. The dumpster was nearby as well. I thought that was great, then I thought it might draw critters to the area. During my stay it wasn't an issue. But, we did see a good size raccoon walk through our part of the campground and one of our campers found footprints on the table. So watch what you leave out overnight. You could hear the stream that just below us. We didn't find the time to make it down to the stream, but I did find time to sit on a log with the view of the stream and have my breakfast. Bathrooms were ok. Trash cans were full, sinks were a little unkept. I found this to be surprising because all our campers had their own bathrooms in their trailers. And I mentioned the campground was pretty empty. Showers are coin operated. I did not use the shower. Camp host (wife) was pleasant, her husband not so much. The wife approached our group one night and said they could deliver firewood to our site for $20. So the next evening I went to the camp host site and rang the Ring doorbell. No answer on the first ring so I tried one more time before I walk away. A guy came out and I mentioned that we wanted to buy some wood and if it could be delivered to our site as mentioned the other night. The wife came on the Ring call (she was at work) and said yes I could have some wood delivered later in the evening. Husband turned around and mumbled I'm going back in to finish my nap. So there's that. We got our wood and that's all I have to say. There is a bird sanctuary that I did not get to check out but saw it each time we left the campground for an outing. Hearing the birds chirp, especially in the morning, was cheerful and pleasant. I would like to return to this campground again. There is so much to see in the town nearby.

Camp host ruin the experience. So rude!!…read more From the moment we arrived the staff was incredibly disrespectful. She seemed so eager to get us off the site even though we had a reservation. Two people visited us in the beginning and were very abrasive. The website to reserve a spot doesn't specify that if you rent a campground that you can spend the night only if your camping but if you are there to hang out for the day you must be gone by 10. Tell me how that makes sense. I'm paying the same price as those who are sleeping overnight but not allowed to stay past 10?? We followed the rules but I thought it was unfair so be aware of that NEW rule. Lastly we started cleaning up and heading out at 10. By 10:10 PM another park staff member came and very rudely expressed that only one person needs to stay to put the remaining flame/fire out, she said we needed to be gone already. I was so upset mainly because me and my group felt like we couldn't enjoy our time there. This is not how anyone who pays for a reservation (gives business) should feel. I've been coming here for years and never had these issues. So incredibly rude ,so disappointing, and disrespectful. Will not be coming back and telling all of my friends to stop coming here. Please be aware that if you visit here it's guaranteed that you will be met with the same attitude as we were as I saw them visiting
