Last summer the chain "cord" to one of my condo's roll-up blinds broke. I asked all my neighbors in my building and the adjacent buildings, who do they recommend to repair the blinds, and without exception, everyone I asked referred me to this company. All the "old-timers" who lived in this area for many years told me that they've only used this company, - some, many times over, - and they all extolled its virtues, both for repairing and for cleaning their blinds. So I called to book an appointment, for someone to swing by and install a new chain and perhaps inspect all the other chains. The woman on the phone knew the area and knew my building well, and we set up a date and time. The pricing seemed reasonable to me, too. My daughter visited me a few days later from Montreal and told me she thought she could repair or replace the chain. (She's kinda the MacGuyver type. Very hands-on, Ms. Fix-It. Not sure where she got those genes lol). Anyhow, we went to this store to get some chain cords. (I should have checked the hours first, as they are closed some days and the first time my kid and I went, of course it was closed that day. We went again the following day and it was open. Yeah!). Note: there is a small parking "lot" in the back of the store, accessible off an alleyway, where you can park for free. We walked through the store, from the back (the rear door from the rear parking lot area) to the front counter area by the front door, passing all the workers and the work room in the rear. Quite the operation they have going on here! It's like a huge warehouse workroom in the back, with tons and tons of all sorts of blinds hanging on racks (who knew there were so many kinds?), long work tables and all sorts of cleaning and repair tools. Anyhow, at the front, I spoke to a lady and gave her a section of my blind's broken chain (I knew they had many different chain ball diameters, so I knew to bring a part of my chain in for them to match). I got a new chain for a VERY reasonable price and we went on our merry way. My kid was able to replace the broken chain (it was a little tricky, especially removing and replacing the valance, but she didi it), and I called this place to cancel our appointment scheduled for the following week. They were super nice about it all. This is a great place. They know what they're doing. And if you are able to fit the blinds yourself, they have the parts here you could probably purchase (as I did). A+. read more

This wonderful company has been around since the Year Dot. I have used them several times, but not for a few years. It was great to discover they are still in business and willing to come to my home to take 10 venetian blinds down for me. My blinds were taken away on a Monday and returned early Thursday morning - clean as a whistle and bright white again. The installer, Duong, encountered a problem with broken hardware on one blind, but he was unfazed.... he went out to the truck and returned with new parts. He worked carefully and diligently. I am very happy with the result and feel the cost was worth the hassle of trying to clean the blinds myself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

I would never use or recommend this company ever! They were 4 days late for having them clean . When picked up the you were not so kind with me or your fellow staff members. The owner Duncan would not give any compensation for the delay getting the blinds done late. Our property manager had new people move in and no blinds in the suite. Here is the BIGGEST issue the blind were no cleaned fully see attached pictures. Again NO REFUND or discount was done for this. Charged 96.76 the $18.80 discount was for the property manager referral. NOT for the bad job and lack of service! They no-showed for a sales/estimation appointment. Dispatch claimed that they repeatedly called to attempt to reschedule but my phone wasn't working. I took two roller blinds in for cleaning and repair one was cleaned and the other was not as you can see from my picture. When I got home and saw how dirty it was I cleaned half of it and took a picture and emailed it to them asking if this blind some how got missed. They never answered my email which apparently happens when I read the Google reviews. They also don't like to credit you back for services not rendered. Just be carful dealing with this company. I would have taken it back to the store but it is a 40 minute drive each way for me. Easier to clean it myself. I will never take them here to be cleaned again especially when their website says they remove dust, grime, grease, mildew, and nicotine stains. No they don't. We installed inexpensive roller blinds from a home shop for my mother-in-law and her caregivers, all of them on the shorter side. Venetian Blind Service Centre was able to provide us with the small screw-in pulls so that the caregivers & my mother-in-law could reach the blinds to pull them down. Cost, less than $5 each but the people in the shop treated us as well as if we were buying thousand dollar window treatments. Highly recommend. Will go back. read more

Excellent service! I highly recommend this company. They picked up, fixed, and returned my broken blind quickly and relatively cheaply.

I dropped 3 blinds off on Tuesday to get a loop change and called Thursday to ask them to check on one blind that was pulling unevenly. They told me that that were done already and the technician had checked and had re-corded all three blinds. I had expected to pay for the loop change but it was good that they re-corded everything because it is such a pain to get them in and out of the brackets. Hunter Douglas doesn't cover anything if you're not the original owner and was going to charge me $100/blind for the loop change plus shipping. read more

This review is way overdue. I came in to inquire about repairing two sets of blinds in a unit we purchased earlier this year. The previous owner must've gotten frustrated with his tangled cords or something. They were snipped so high that I couldn't reach them, and because the cords were so short, the blinds would only close half way. ZERO PRIVACY in a bedroom? No thank you! Initially, I went into Home Depot looking for a solution. They said they didn't have parts for blinds and could only replace the entire set of blinds, but before I turned to leave, they suggested that I walk over a block and talk to Venetian Blinds. I immediately went over and a lady answered all of my questions and gave me an outline on their pricing. I left my information with her and someone called me back before the end of day. I was able to set up an in house service for the next morning. They arrived on time, and repaired my cords on the spot. It was so easy to get done and the costs were extremely reasonable that I don't know why anyone would even try to "DIY fix" the issue or replace them entirely. The blinds open and close like a dream now and my new tenant is happy to have something that works like new! I actually liked their service so much that when my parents had a set of blinds with a broken tilt wand mechanism, I immediately took them over to Venetian Blinds to get it repaired. Roger was very accommodating and fit my little job in quickly. He said it would take about 15 minutes so I went for a quick coffee break. Came back and he had my blinds working like new again! You get a discount for dropping your own blinds off vs having them come to you. Only 4 stars as one of the blinds they cleaned was still a **little** dirty when I installed it. Best window blind company I have dealt with. Spoke to Kelly on the phone who quickly scheduled a pick up date and gave me a rough estimate on cost. I understood that they needed to see the blinds in order to quote the repairs. Navy was our pick up and install tech and we found him extremely personable as well. The blinds were back in a few days, at a very reasonable price, installed in a flash and sparkling like new. These people obviously take pride in their work. Just got our venetian blinds cleaned. Wow wow wow. They are spotless. Just love it. Called the company, they sent someone out within a few days. He took the blinds back to be cleaned and returned them one week later. They look brand new. Navy is the person we dealt with. He is superb to say the least. Knows his job, is extremely personable and so polite and lovely to talk to. We have been using this company since we moved into this place 30 years ago. These are new blinds now and we love them. The building we live in is over 20 years old so that dates the blinds. The other day one of the stems that holds the vertical blinds in place broke. This sent me around town in hunt for the old little plastic part in the hope that the whole unit didn't need to be replaced. One place led to another, which led to the Venetian Blind Service Centre. This place is the best thing since sliced bread! Cleaning Venetian blinds by hand is a nightmare, but having them professionally cleaned is wonderful and MUCH cheaper than I would have expected. It's easy to drop them off (20% discount; park in the back), and they're ready in a couple of days. My blinds are 35 years old, but now they look and move like new. read more

If you've ever taken the time to wash your own venetian blinds you will understand it is a tedious job and most easily accomplished if you live in a house that has an outdoor space. For condo living this feat requires soaking in the bathtub, followed by some creativity to rig up a way to hang the blinds up to scrub them ( I do this with a shower rod hung above the tub) then there's rinsing followed by an undetermined amount of drying time before you can re-hang the blinds. Venetian Blind service center does this tedious job for you....and is inexpensive in my mind. For $17 I had a 4' wide blind cleaned. If you drop off the blind by 9am it'll be ready for pickup later in the day, if not a quick 24 hour turn around time. Had I washed and dried them myself I'm sure they'd still be drying! I can honestly say that I will not likely ever waste my time washing my own venetian blinds ever. read more

We recently purchased a new place and it appeared the Venetian blinds hadn't ever been cleaned. Sticky residue that dust just clings to, and very yellowed strings. We have wall to ceiling windows on a corner unit - so we dropped off about 15 tall blinds. They offered one day service if we required - we did not. They were ready a week later, and everything looked like brand new. Even the dirty strings I thought would have to be replaced were immaculate. Everything came out well packed, easy to transport, and for under $250. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars was that we tried a couple times to reach them about the pick up. I had a very large, heavy blind with lift cord fraying and decided I had to have them taken down and fixed in their shop so agreed to pay them to come and get the blind down. The service man arrived on time (ahead actually), said "I can fix this on site" and proceeded to quickly restring not just the frayed cord but also the other four. Even with the added cost of the service call this was an economical repair and much better (and faster) than I was expecting. Very satisfied customer. read more

I contacted this company after my relatively new vertical blinds stopped opening and closing properly (I purchased my blinds from another company which I would not use again). Venetian called me back and set up an appointment promptly which I appreciated. Then they showed up on time to inspect the blinds and discovered that the blind mechanism just needed a realignment. They charged me a reasonable fee to come out and check which was fair and then a fee to fix the issue. And their price was very reasonable. This company completely wasted my time. After chasing them down for a appointment (which should have been my first red flag) I was able to get a estimator to come and look at my windows. I spent over a hour with measurements and picking fabrics etc. It took well over 10 days to receive a estimate and it was only because I called numerous times to asking when I would receive it (another red flag). I was told they were still "working" on it after 10 days. Finally, it appeared and it was a total cost versus a break down per window. I asked them to send me the details per window so I could make a decision if I wanted to forgo a window as the estimate was overly high. I was ignored... And a week later I receive a email from Neil stating that they are just to busy to give me a break down and that perhaps I should find another company. I had asked them how this is possible that they could not give me a break down as if I was to tell them to go ahead with the order they would have had to give the same information to the manufacture. This company is very unprofessional and overpriced. I would not recommend at all! read more

I called them to get a quote on a project and both people that I talked to on the phone seemed to have their heads in the cloud in terms of answering my questions, especially when it came to cost. I understand that in the labor field that you cannot give an exact cost until the technician comes on site but if you've worked more than 3 years and I've presented a general summary of the situation I am sure that there is no reason why a sliding scale cost couldn't be given, especially since it becomes my responsibility to present these numbers to the property manager. I've worked in the trades industry all my life and I have never had an issue with provided a general sliding scale quote. On the same note the guy I was talking to Matt, seemed a little rude when it came to answering my questions. He was supposed to pass on my information to the service department but clearly I never got a call back, therefore, I am assuming that he never passed on my message. I called this company on Friday of last week and asked about pricing to put a new chain on vertical blinds. I am a Resident Manager and sometimes research for my residents. I was told it was $.75 a foot for the chain and $15.00 for labor. When I call the elderly lady back to tell her she asked me to arrange it. I called CJ back to give him her phone number he then told me that there would be a $50 service charge added. Again I called me resident and she approved the extra charge. She wanted it done as soon as possible so she asked that he call right away. I called CJ and asked him to call her as soon as possible. He said he would. He didn't. I called him later in the afternoon and once again asked that he call her and he said he would. She never ever did hear from him, to this day. Terrible service and they deserve a D rating. read more

I booked a service call to repair a venetian blind and also reinstall another blind that had been installed by someone else, incorrectly. The service lady set the time they could come to my house. When they didn't arrive that morning, I called and learned they had incorrectly entered the appointment date and time in their "book". When I expressed disappointment as I had stayed home for this appointment, the lady became very unpleasant, suggesting it wasn't their fault. I wouldn't have anything to do with this company.
