This is typically my go to salon. I rave about it to friends and locals. But yesterday has made me question returning. I requested not to be scheduled with a specific nail technician after experiencing infections on three fingers following my previous service with her. Despite this, I was still assigned to that technician. When I chose to decline the service and leave, she followed me to my car to question my decision. This situation should not have occurred, especially given that I clearly communicated my request to the front desk staff. Overall, this was a very unprofessional experience. read more

Seriously, they only have one person that is experienced enough to do the gel building nail healthy. and she is on vacation for two months. so where are you supposed to go or keep your nails while gone, they don't have people to staff the items they say they can do. so you will just get a so so person doing nails and then they will not last or be what you want. what a joke. read more

Wow, so I can't even believe what happened here today. I got a manicure and a pedicure here about three years ago. The lady who was cutting my nails did not understand English, so it was hard to communicate with her. I wanted to let her know not to cut my nails too short. She didn't understand and for whatever reason that Hispanic lady next to her wasn't really trying to help her that much. The manager who does a great job of keeping the place clean and looking good for whatever reason did not step in to try and fix this. At the end, he ended up not charging me for the manicure but the whole house just wasn't even worth it. I decided to wait sometime and figured I'd give this place another try. They had me sit down in a chair as I waited for the person to come out who was gonna cut my nails. I was just gonna do a pedicure this time. What are the chances that the girl that walked out from the back was the same one? I had a problem with three years ago. You have got to be kidding me. But I decided to continue on as everybody deserves a second chance. Well, take a look at the picture that's how she cut my nails. Ridiculous. I didn't really notice until I got home when I took a closer look. Unbelievable. This is a terrible job and quite frankly if this was school, she would get an F! Because of this, I will never go back to this place again seriously. Nobody's given her any feedback on this? This is totally unacceptable. Based on this, I would not recommend this place to anyone even somebody I don't like that much. I was visiting from out of town, wrecked my current SNS French Tip mani on my natural nails due to a very stressful family emergency and was in desperate need of a fresh mani. After reading Yelp reviews I decided to give Velvet a try. I called for an appointment but was told to come on in when I could. I was warmly greeted the moment I opened the door. What a beautiful, clean and spacious salon! Each operator's license is clearly displayed facing the customer at their station. My nail tech Tim was wonderful. He listened to my requests and concerns. He was able to give me exactly what I asked for and did such a beautiful job. Even though I ended up needing artificial tips added to most of my nails, Tim was able to make them look so natural that you can't tell them from my own natural nails. I am an extremely picky person and very critical about how my nails are done but I would confidently recommend this nail salon to anyone in the Stuart/Port St Lucie area. read more

Came here for a dip french and a pedicure. Angela did my nails and I was more than pleased! She did a wonderful job. I have gone to many salons searching for the right person and she is it! The shape is as I requested (why do some technicians insist on a square shape even after you specifically request rounder????). I asked for them to be thin and, hallelujah, they are!!!!! Pedicure was very good but it was the elusive perfect dip manicure that I have been in search of. I could not be mpre pleased. had really high hopes for coming here due to the ratings, so I invited my mother to come with for a special mom daughter day while I came into town visiting. We walked in and the salon itself is well taken care of in clean. I had an appointment for a pedicure and my mom a color change ( that's just what she requested ). The appointments were a little last minute and since we've never been there we didn't have anyone specific we wanted to go to as we just picked the time slot and first available. Anyway, fast forward we sit down and a few minutes in I have to point out that my mother doesn't not want a pedicure just a color change even though I chose just color change through the app (they were filling the bowl with water but nothing past that) and her tech was trying to convince her to get one. I don't know if there was just miscommunication on my end but both techs seemed to be making small jokes to each other about it. Her tech also flooded a couple of cuticles and came to "fix " them but didn't really and her big toe nails were noticeable crooked. I know that it is not always included In a polish color change, so my original thought was going to be just to tip her accordingly with including that extra service that she offered to my mother(filing and cuticle). My tech was very nice- she was quiet; however she nicked and filed my skin to the point of it hurting. I did bring up every time something hurt like this to my nail tech and ultimately just asked her not to file anymore (the video is of my one foot this morning - still red, tender and irritated). At the end of the day my pedicure looks great minus the small irritations, but there was no real customer care when it happened aside from seconds before I left I was handed a complimentary bottle of cuticle oil. He was very nice, did not hurt me with the electric files, was very careful and neat. A perfectionist.I am very happy with the results. This is THE ONLY place to come for nail service. I reached out to the salon late yesterday for an appointment as I was coming into town from Tampa and needed my nails done and a pedi. Michael was able to squeeze me in the next morning and WOWed me through the entire service. First let me say, the salon is huge. 15 stations of both nail and pedi booths all hosting talented techs. The place is clean, welcoming and modern and the color selection is impressive. The place was obviously busy being a Saturday morning and people continued to come in for services but there was never more than a 5 minute wait. Michael is friendly and VERY knowledgeable. He consistently checked to make sure I was happy and explained what he was doing throughout the appointment. I'm some what "picky" as I know what I want my nails to look like and what will bother me. Anytime I communicated what I wanted, Michael ensured he did it, never showing frustration and even encouraged me to tell him what I liked as he wants all clients to leave happy. His technique is different from other places I've been as well and was really cool to see! The end result was a worry free service with gorgeous looking nails! My deluxe pedicure with gel was done by Amy who I am just blown away by. In Tampa, pedicures are always rushed with little to no massaging. Amy gave me one of the BEST pedicures I've ever had. Not only is she so detailed in cleaning up the toenails, but she gave me at least 30 minutes of straight massage with STRONG relaxing pressure. She never rushed, was gentle and thorough. Due to a snowstorm just before heading South, I was unable to fit in a pedicure. So, did a quick Yelp search for Stuart and found this gem. This place was clean, large, brightly lit and full of life. Michael - the owner/manager - was full of energy, cheer, and jokes. He managed to multitask while giving me a pedicure and yet I never felt neglected. I actually think I got a much longer massage as a result! Also - my mother joined me. She is older and had never had a pedicure before. While the massage chair was too much for her - she loved the rest of the experience. So much so, that she ended up having a manicure too as how can her nails not match her pretty toes. Visiting our family from LA for a few weeks, I was at a loss for where I should get my nails done in an unfamiliar part of Florida. And then, I found Velvet Nails on Yelp with glorious reviews! I rushed to the salon with my boyfriend, hoping that they could squeeze us in without an appointment at 1 pm on a Saturday. We were immediately greeted by Michael and were told that they could take us in! The salon was pretty packed, so even though we were lucky it's probably best to call ahead of time to book an appointment. They had a variety of manicure, gel, and dipping powder colors. The interior of the salon was cute, clean, and super instaworthy with velvet chairs and pink neons. I'm usually pretty picky with my gel color, but was able to find a color that I like! I'm really glad Michael was the one to work on my nails, as he was attentive, funny, talented and knowledgeable! He quickly finished my acrylic set while teaching me a few tips about my nails. A barista from the cafe next door came to take coffee orders which was a pleasant surprise, I totally would've taken advantage if I didn't have a smoothie an hour before my visit. My nails came out to around $60 for the set, which from reading reviews are on the pricy side for the area. However, coming from LA I thought that the price was reasonable for the great service you get! I'll definitely be back in a few months when I visit again. I was unable to get into my regular salon & had an unexpected weekend getaway pop up. Velvet Nails & Spa was close to my work and had decent Yelp reviews so I tried them out. I got a pedicure 1st. It went well until the Tech massaged my legs with the scrub vs lotion. This was uncomfortable & not very relaxing. My (regular) polish looked good at the end though. (It lasted 3 weeks before I changed it again) Next, I got my gel polish changed on my hands. This is where the whole experience went terrible for me. The Tech kept hitting my cuticles with the drill in error. Her polish application was less than desirable. My poor cuticles looked terrible and within a week my gel polish was peeling from the cuticle area up. *At my normal salon, my gel polish typically lasts 2+ weeks. I change because it grows out vs peeling off. read more

Michael did an excellent job with my christmas gel manicure! He took his time and continually asked me to check if his work was to my liking. He was easy and fun to talk to, and I appreciated how seriously he took his craft. He was very patient and understanding that I wanted to soak off my gelx nails rather than machine filing them off to save my nails underneath from being thinned down. It took a very long time, and even though it was a busy day, Michael made me feel well taken care of! I didn't get the pedicurist's name, but he also did a great job on my toes. He didn't rush through at all, but also wasn't too slow. I had a great experience and will definitely be going back to Michael when I'm in town next! Highly recommend!
