Front desk did give me a bit of an attitude about being a walk-in , even though their website clearly states that if you can't get an online appointment, you should walk in! Our wait as a walk-in, first thing in the morning on a Saturday, was about 45 minutes, MUCH faster than the Newport News Patient First. Also much cleaner, bigger waiting area, and more space between the seats. It did get crowded quickly after our check-in. My kid just had sinus symptoms but they had lasted for weeks, and were turning into raspy lungs/shortness of breath as well. The male docter we saw was professional and friendly, with a joking manner. Really liked him. The visit with him was shockingly quick. But we did get the medication we needed to make my teen feel better. read more

I went in for a swollen toe (minor issue) but was given the full treatment. Easy check-in with the friendly receptionist. Prompt accompaniment to exam room and check of my vitals by a courteous and knowledgeable nurse assistant Megan, shortly followed by a thorough exam by the insightful provider, Sara. My mom went to this facility last week complaining of a severe ear infection that she believed was spreading into her other ear as well. She never got to see a doctor. Instead, she was seen by an assistant. My mother asked for a zpack, since she's had this issue before and she knows that fixes it (my mom is also a retired CNA). The assistant instead prescribed her a mild antibiotic and sent her home, claiming the antibiotic she prescribed was a strong one (it absolutely was not). Over the course of the week, my mom got worse and worse. Today she went to a different urgent care facility because the pain was too much. Both ears were visibly bright red, and her pain was 9/10. She was seen by an actual doctor, given stronger antibiotics and a steroid because the infection had gotten so bad in BOTH ears. This doctor said whoever prescribed her initial meds was a qwuack, and urged her to not come back to this urgent care facility if she gets sick in the future. If you want real medical attention, go anywhere else but here. read more

Went there due to severe dehydration, and they did not have to tools needed to give adequite care, so we had to leave and go to another Urgent Care facility (Williamsburg Urgent Care... where we got excellent care). They refused to refund my co-pay because they took vitals. They gave no care and took my copay!! NEVER GO HERE, especailly when you need medical assistance. read more

I don't know what the other negative reviews are on about. Maybe outdated or old? My wife and I walked in and were seen immediately. Staff were friendly and helpful. Compare this to the urgent care down the road which was a 2.5 hour wait... Definitely will be returning! Just hopefully not soon, haha! read more

As with at least one other review, this in regard to the Centerville Rd location in Williamsburg. The only reason it is a 2 star review and not a 1 star is that they offer online booking and pre-registration. Unfortunately, my husband got sick while we were visiting the area. We knew it wasn't COVID as we have been there, done that, got the t-shirt already. He was very sick with food poisoning and sinus infection symptoms. The PA basically refused to see him beyond giving him some Zofran because his pulse was slightly elevated. They only wanted him at ER. We truly believe if the UC wasn't affiliated with a hospital system they would have at least provided a thorough exam and treated the obvious symptoms. It seems very much like an attempt to bill pad and not out of any major concern for his wellbeing. Not to mention, he was the only one there and still waited to get called back. Very disappointed that Patient First doesn't have a Williamsburg location. They are heads over tails better than this UC. Next time (hopefully never) we will drive home or to Hampton where there are better options. So, we will head home tomorrow, check his pulse on the pulse ox we bought when we had COVID and likely head to Patient First in Colonial Heights! read more

This place basically operates as a primary care, they don't want and aren't particularly friendly to walk ins! But don't let that appointment thing fool you. Absolutely horrible service. Please do not waste your time and go elsewhere. My daughter came in for treatment complaining of shortness of breath, discomfort, phlem, etc. She was treated by a very rude, very young, short-tempered Nurse Practitioner who not only snapped at her but misdiagnosed her!!! She essentially told my daughter to sleep it off and provided her with no medications despite sharing she had symptoms for over two weeks. I ended up driving down the next day to take her to an actual doctor who was not only professional and patien, but also took the time to diagnose her properly. He prescribed her the appropriate medication to prevent her from getting pneumonia! This women should not be in practice if so early on in her career she cannot control her negative attitude! The single worst urgent care center I've been to (and I've been to a few awful ones). Went for a rapid COVID test. My appointment was at 1pm and I had called them to ask how long it would take - they said 5 minutes easy swab. I even preregistered beforehand to save time. The wait was 4.5 hours. Then after the swab they said it would be ready in 30 mins. After waiting 30 mins, they said just go home and gave me a login password. It was never updated all day and since it was a Friday, I had to wait until Monday to get the results of my RAPID test. Extremely unprofessional and a giant waste of money and time. read more

Top notch in every way. I moved here from Ohio and the earliest that I could get an appointment with a new PCP was months away. In the meantime my meds ran out and my Ohio PCP wouldn't refill them. I walked into Velocity with my empty bottles and was immediately greeted by the front desk person. I told her why I was there and she ran in the back with my meds to make sure they could be refilled. She came right back and said yes so she quickly registered me. I waited for a minute and was called back. Deb was great and took my vitals and John sent my refills to the pharmacy. This place is running with only a staff of 3!!! Why in the heck are they even open! I made an appointment for 5:30pm, arrived early and it took them 20 minutes to even check me in. It's now 6:16pm and a family of 5 kids who need school immunization just went back to be seen. . . Why are they stacking appointments!!! Another parent was told to come back at 6pm for a Covid test for their child - yet the wait is now over 1.5 hrs. Velocity knew they were already backed up. . . NEVER GO TO THIS URGENT CARE CENTER! I went here on a Monday with UTI symptoms (always shows negative infection without culture). I went back to the Gloucester office on Wednesday and they did not do a culture since the prior urgent care told me they did one. Nearly 5 days later I still have not had anyone to call me back for the result of my culture. I have been calling and leaving messages for three days. The nurse that did my vitals was rude as well as the receptionist that took my calls. I have never had such a horrible experience with Velocity Urgent Care. if you must go, go to a different Velocity Urgent Care Center. read more

I went to this facility upon advice from my care provider, based on a telemed visit, to get a Covid test and chest xrays. BLUF: if you are a Sentara New Town patron, do NOT waste your time or endure the insult just because this place is conveniently downstairs. You are worth and worthy of more than this. Background: I am not a sickly type of person, generally more of the athletic type, despite my many 'decades chronological' age. I had been having covid systems for over 3 weeks. did not want or expect pity, only to be treated like human being and obtain basic testing. oh did i need to say, " and the results" ? The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and efficient. The nurse who took me in and did all the work (test/xrays) was actually very professional and efficient. The male doctor, on the other hand, was a total jerk, rude condensing to be avoided at all cost if you have any self respect type. seriously. I am assuming he was a doctor. I am not assuming when I advise, "avoid at all cost" Even though it has been over a week, and in spite of their claim that test results take only 2-3 days now, and in spite of my calling for update telling them I needed it in order to return to work, they have neither provided the x-rays to my care provider NOR have they advised me of the Covid test result. But then, one would expect processes to be flawed when the top ranking people are. read more

I recently had an appointment here and was given medicine. After I began the medicine I got a complication from it to which I called back. Several several times over the course of a few days. I called so much and for so long, my mother started calling for a few days. She called over 20 times in one night and never spoke to a real person. The few times she got through to someone we spoke and they said they'd send in another medication to help. So we waited waited and waited some more and still nothing... It has been over a week that we have been calling and we yet to have had the issue solved or handled. I went to Velocity for a Covid test. The process for making an appointment and getting seen was very smooth. The problem comes in with the results of the test. I was told it would take about 30 hours and a nurse would advise of results. 30 hours has long since past. I called the office this morning when they opened at 8. I was told my results were there and a nurse would contact me shortly. So far, it's been almost 6 hours with no call. My family is greatly impacted by these results as is my ability to work. It's very frustrating to not get a call when the answer is just sitting there. I would not return to this business for any reason. read more

Filled out form, insurance etc. Waited in the car 30 minutes and finally a call. Then waited 30 more minutes in outer waiting room and no one ever came out. Receptionist finally goes to the back and doctor or pa sitting doing nothing saying "well we didn't see him." No apology, no we'll see you right away, just "so what." Velocity Urgent Care in Williamsburg does not care, does not want to be bothered. Don't go there. Deserves no stars read more

I am disturbed and annoyed by the poor care received from this office. I didn't mind the 1.5 hr wait, but Nurse Washburn was less than concerned about why I was there. He hurried in, barked questions at me, and was back out the door before I even had a chance to properly respond. I literally spoke with him for less than 30 seconds. He hurriedly wrote a prescription, but 10 days later my symptoms were back in full force. I called the office twice to follow up, but never received a call back and spent over 30 minutes on hold. Ended up in Richmond to see another Doctor who told me that my infection was much worse, and that she had not prescribed the medication I was given by Nurse Washburn to a patient in her 20+years of practice. So thanks a lot, Washburn. You didn't earn the money you will receive from me, and you put me at risk for a serious medical complication. I will never return to this office. read more

Beyond upset, I went in to be seen and the lady up front tells me to put a card on file which I figured would be for a normal copay. A MONTH AND A WEEK later, I'm charged $167.00 (which overdraft my account, lovely!) without warning, NO receipt to even show what I had paid for, NO expectations of when this would be coming out, NOTHING. I should have looked at the reviews before heading there because they're true. I was at one point left in the exam room for 35 minutes.. I walk out to ask for my excuse note for work and they were closing, completely forgot me in there and didn't even apologize for it. Scheduled an appt for 1:40 p.m. I was called back and had my vitals taken at 2:02 p.m. and then put into an exam room. It was obvious that I had been forgotten after sitting in the exam room for almost an hour!! After I opened the door to inquire when I would be seen, the Dr. appeared immediately (3:01 p.m.) and her first words were "you should be glad I took pity on you instead of getting something to eat." What?????? She then proceeded to tell me how much weight she had lost because she was overworked, and thanked me for not coughing in her face. I have had billing issues the past two visits. First time they entered my medical ID wrong so I received a letter stating they were going to charge me the full cost of the visit. I called my plan and they said they need to resubmit with the correct info. They finally did and the costs were covered. Went for covid testing In April and again am being told by my plan I have to pay $100 for the test. Test fees are supposed to be waived! The diagnosis on my patient summary was exactly as required for my plan to waive the fee. Now I have to deal with billing again to hopefully correct what is probably a coding issue. To top that off, was stuck in the waiting room for almost hour with others, some not wearing masks, while waiting to be Covid tested. Not visiting here again. There are lots of other urgent cares In town to choose from. read more

I went in on a Sunday with an abscessed tooth and had a burn to my forehead. I am on oxygen and cannot wear a mask because it knocks the oxygen cannula out of my nose and because of the burn I could not wear my usual plastic visor. So I checked in at the desk and sat as far away from everyone as possible, about 20 feet from the nearest person but still within site of the receptionist. She glared at me for 45 minutes and finally sent someone out with a mask which I held over my mouth ( I'm sure that really prevented transmission of The Virus!) For another 20 minutes. By then I was so upset I would have left but I was in so much pain I had to see a doctor. When I finally got to see a doctor I got the same treatment. The doctor just kept saying it was 'their policy' to wear a mask. But she took 5 minutes to treat me as I once again held the mask over my mouth and I left. Mask or no mask I was treated very very poorly and will never darken their doors again. read more

I will not return to this "urgent" care place. Zero is a velocity. Took two hours to be treated for a minor injury. Front desk bills improperly, and has paperwork that someone in Velocity management needs to review. I had to put the same information on the electronic forms several times, the same information I gave them about a month ago. The Nurse knew I would need an x-ray and waited an hour and half for the Nurse Practitioner to come in and say I needed the X-ray. The whole time I was in the room, I could hear laughter and non-medical conversation in the nurse station. No one came in to update me on the wait or see if I was OK. And what ever happened to seeing a DOCTOR? I haven't seen one since the ACA was implemented, always a nurse or PA. Sentara did this community a great disservice when they sold out to an out of town medical provider. read more

I have now been sitting in the room I was placed in over an hour and a half ago and left unattended, after leaving to ask a nurse how long we should expect for the doctor to come back in she responded "it depends on the severity of your case but you have one person in front of you", I asked her that 45 minutes ago, I came in unable to breathe, and still am unable to breathe, after starting a breathing treatment I was left alone, nobody has come to check on me since, over an hour ago. This is the absolute worst urgent care facility I have ever been to.The receptionists were professional and pleasant but once I went into the treatment area,the atmosphere was apathetic bordering on hostile.The first person I saw complained that I was on a lot of medication and had a long medical history-as though I did this deliberately just to spite her.My blood pressure was high and this annoyed her,too.The PA came in .She was abrupt,avoided eye contact,mumbled,and sighed.She acted like a seventh grader who was told to spit her gum out.She actually had her back to me and was walking out of the room when she mumbled my care instructions.I wish I had their names but no one introduced themselves. read more

In October, I went to my personal physician in Northern Virginia, who thought I had bronchitis, and treated me for that. I was coughing more than I have ever coughed in my life, to the point that I pulled a muscle in my back and my stomach. I just wasn't getting better. I was visiting in Williamsburg, and couldn't even go out to dinner I was feeling so poor. I went to Velocity Urgent Care. I was immediately impressed with the disposition of the staff. Friendly and thoughtful, they seemed immediately to care about my condition. I didn't wait long, and was brought back to see the nurse. She took my vitals, washing hands before and after, and was incredibly kind. She asked if I wanted to see the doctor or the PA. I stated that because I saw a PA already, and I was feeling worse, I would like to see the doctor. The doctor, Greg Biernacki, came in, listened to my story, listed to my cough, chest, etc., and sent me for an immediate X-Ray. The X-Ray was taken and I was back in the room in less than 10 minutes. He didn't see anything on the X-Ray, and came to the conclusion that I likely had Whooping Cough (pertussis). He called in the right antibiotic to treat pertussis to the local CVS, I got on it, and I was good within 48 hours. I was so impressed with Dr. Biernacki. He was thorough, asked many questions, and correctly diagnosed my condition. I have already referred both of my children when they were sick. I very strongly support this organization, and I will be back again! read more
