Extremely disappointing experience. I went to this urgent care with a visibly swollen and painful infection in my finger and was seen by Jeffrey J. Padgett. I specifically asked whether the swelling could be drained because my fingertip was clearly filled with fluid and was becoming increasingly painful. Rather than properly examining it, he simply looked at my finger with a flashlight and told me there was nothing to drain. He did not palpate the area or otherwise physically examine the swelling. I was prescribed antibiotics and discharged. I went home, took a nap, and woke up in significantly worse pain. I eventually soaked my finger in warm water, at which point the blister opened and drained the fluid that I had specifically asked about earlier. I understand that antibiotics can be appropriate treatment for an infection, but the lack of a thorough examination was extremely concerning. When a patient presents with significant swelling, pain, and what appears to be a fluid-filled area, simply shining a flashlight at it and dismissing the concern is not the level of evaluation I expected from a medical provider. The fact that it opened and drained on its own shortly after I was sent home makes the encounter even more frustrating. I left feeling that my concerns were dismissed rather than properly evaluated. I would strongly encourage the facility to take a closer look at how these types of infections and potential abscesses are being assessed. read more

Benefit of the doubt bc of COVID climate. Booked a day of check-in (unofficially appointment) online, 4 hours ahead of time. Never received 15min prior alert even 7 hours later. User text service to request update twice but no response; used again to exit line and it responded worth away. Followed same procedure next morning, same as Isias Storm; this time, I proactively visited the site immediately after securing 9a check-in time. Mask required. Filled out paper work, gave them my id/insurance card. Asked to wait in car. Received a text, went inside, they waived me off stating I'll be called. Received call at 940a (from Poquoson phone number). Once called back, visit took less than 15 minutes total, including vital check, nasal swabs (be prepared), and PA follow up to check breath sounds. Sorry, I don't do reviews but this was one of my worst experience. Long story short!! We did an online reservation supposed to be there at 10:20. Walked in 10min prior appointment. Their textmessage says I have 1 more patient infront of me. But then I see at least 10 people getting called in. At around 11am the woman at the desk told me that I have to wait since I have checked in 12min ago. And that they don't go by the text messages, but here I see all the patients walking in that came after me.... she really was unacceptable rude to me. I got my co-pay back and will never visit Velocity Care Again. That is the second time that the fooled me. We waited over an hour there and couldn't risk to get sick in the busy waiting room. The Physicians and Nurses here are hard working and move with urgency. They provide professional and accurate diagnosis of patients in a timely manner (especially with the amount of traffic coming through the lobby). They have great hospitality and treat you like a human being instead of a paycheck...I've been highly pleased with my experience and everyone working deserves a hard earned praise. We are in another wave of this pandemic. Vaccines ARE WORKING, research has been done for many years now. I am vaccinated and still needed to get a rapid covid test so I can see family. I was greeted by a nice lady, when I arrived 15 min early for my 6:15 appt. She quickly checked me in and I had a seat in their very clean lobby. I luv to see nature inside. As I am a avid plant mom. A medical feed was running in the lobby, plants sat on various tables. 6:15 came and went, the receptionist walked in to the back and returned to advise us that the nurses were just finishing up a patient and we old see myself and a young man waiting. 5 minutes later we both were called back and put into nice rooms. A nurse quickly explained that she would be in to swab me and to run my rapid test. Karma was with me as she gently but effectively deeply swabbed each nostril. I sat in the pt room and just chilled out and recoverd from the day as I waited results. I'm not sure I she a nurse or Med tech , Tisch was her name. Returned to take my vitals, ask a few questions and said she would be back with results. Over all the visit was just great. I'm happy and healthy and going to see my family safely. I absolutely would recommend Velocity urgent care ....WITH AN APPOINTMENT. They used to be little creek medical associates. I like the doctors, physician assistants and nurses there. Their billing is messed up. They consistently charge the specialist co-pay. They did that to me twice when they were little creek medical associates, as well. I just spoke to my insurance company again. I have to wait for the explanation of benefits from my insurance company, then wait a couple of weeks for Velocity to refund the extra $15 they charged me. They charged me $40 for a specialist visit, though I seen by a physician's assistant supervised by a family medicine doctor. Not a specialist. That's a $25 co-pay. If I don't get my refund in a few weeks then I have to call them and try to get them to issue me a refund and if they refuse then my insurance company will get involved. I like the care they provide but going through this again is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I'm going to find a different facility. read more

It seems like the "doctors" at this place all got their degrees at some fake med school online cause they have no idea what they're doing. The staff is extremely rude and condescending. They basically want you to leave asap and to waste your money. I just went to this Urgent Care last week, walked in and was seen, Now a week later, I'm told I need to make an appointment. I advised I just was here last week & they saw me without an appointment. The wait the day after Christmas wasn't too bad. The receptionist was a tad abrupt and needs to remember that the procedures with which she is so familiar are not familiar to all patients. She should welcome and guide not order and demand. People coming in are sick. They are congested, medicated, anxious and perhaps not thinking clearly. They don't need their problems exacerbated by an impatient person at a place where they have gone to for help and where they are paying for a service. This is for Velocity Urgent on Granby Street next to the Internal Medicine practice. There is no HIPPA involved at this location. You are invited to speak loudly through the plexiglass in the main lobby where all the other patients wait. There, you can state your full name, Date of Birth and any other vital information, if you're lucky, you can repeat it for the person working reception. Here's the offensive kicker, a patient heard my info and freely called me by my last name repeatedly until I responded to this stranger. He began a conversation based on what he heard! Everyone was nice including the staff and doctor. Everything was organized and great except for one thing. There were a few bugs including a large cockroach in the patient room I was in. The doctor simply stepped on it and said" I didn't know there were bugs in here," he acted like it was normal. I went simply for a sports physical for my schools volleyball team. Went here for a bacterial infection on my foot. I was seen by a doctor who did not state his name , did not give any instruction on when or what my medication was he was prescribing me , and was unprofessional. He was so quick he was only in the room with me for a total of under 2 minutes. As somebody who paid a large co pay even with insurance and went to this office and waited an hour to be seen with an appointment, I find this unacceptable.
