Be on time for your appointment or they cannot guarantee you will be helped. Also ... they check parking brakes in forward and reverse at 1,000RPM. If it moves an inch they will not continue with the inspection till it is fixed and brought back. Found this out after spending $700. Total time there 4 hours at the VPC for my vehicle to finally get accepted in 20 minutes. They have no problem making you wait till every single other person that is in the lobby or might even walk in through the door goes before you if you miss your appointment. read more

Overall not a bad VPC. I've been to 3, and this was the best so far. Paperwork- use pcsmypov and submit everything in advance. Make sure your Lien authorization has a wet signature. Vehicle prep: follow the guidelines and do the best you can. These guys do a thorough check and wont take a dirty vehicle but they arent nearly as ridiculous about it as the one I went to in Baltimore (that guy white gloved my tires). I so wish I could give negative stars. I arrived at 7:30am and did not leave until 12:45pm. By 10am they had 100% turn away rating. they turned away every car until about 10:30am. you better make sure you have a perfect car. I have a 2022 Honda nothing wrong with it and had all my documents and still had a ridiculously frustrating experience. Wendy was incredibly rude and was just trying to look for problems with every car. I was just over the limit so I had to go drive around to get it down and she did not even recheck it. she sent one person away bc they had dust on their car after washing it yesterday. Make sure you have all your paperwork, the key fob for your car, everything works, disassemble the car & reassemble it before even arriving. when you take your keys in there no it cannot have anything on it not even a tiny ring or they will stare at you as you clearly struggle to take it off. read more

This Charleston, SC vehicle processing center is located just off of US 52 and is right in the middle of a slum. The front desk lady was nice and that's the only reason they get 2 stars. Service time was exactly 56 min to be seen. Add on another 48 min to get the car inspected. read more

Absolutely horrible experience -- Twice! The staff was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. When they pulled my vehicle up, it was covered mud, like someone took it off-roading. When I conducted my inspection, the employee tried to physically intimidate me, getting up in my face and bowing up on me. Because I had such a horrible experience, I made sure to go with my wife when we picked up her car. They tried the same stunts, giving us a dirty car and trying to talk us out of making claims on damage that occurred during shipment/their possession. The facility manager was extremely rude. He tried spouting off various regulations that, when looked up, where not even applicable! It's like they just make stuff up thinking people aren't going to confirm what they are being told. Additionally, these dirty contractors try to intimidate people into handing them the comment cards as opposed to mailing them or dropping them in the lock box. Clearly, these corrupt contractors are trying to control what information the government sees from service members and their families. They surely shred the complaints... and probably replace them with forged compliments. Bottom line, our US service members deserve better than these corrupt thugs. If you have issues, make sure you mail in your comment card to the government office, DO NOT hand it to the corrupt contractors that work on site. Additionally, if they try intimidating you or give you any hassle, demand to speak with their US government representative before signing anything! read more

I have shipped a car to and from this place and both times it has been rough. I recently shipped my car to Italy and the car has been sitting at the VPC for just about 3 weeks with a 2 month long delivery date. 3 weeks of sitting and I find out that it supposed to ship today supposedly??? I understand that I am not paying for the shipping but come on. The DOD needs to investigate this business and take a hard look at their procedures. This is unsatisfactory for a vehicle to take 2 months to arrive at a destination. If I was to pay out of pocket the car would have been there in under 3-4 weeks... they are on their schedule and don't give a crap because you don't have a choice in companies when it comes to shipping a car on the governments dime. This is how the last company lost the contract because they were loosing vehicles and not meeting acceptable shipping timelines. Good luck! read more

In a schetchy area and if your car is seriously not spotless they won't take it. We washed it the night before and of course when you drive dust will get on it. The lady referred us to the car wash at the gas station so my husband took it there. The car was still wet and there is as dust on it still. The supervisor was rude and pretty much told us we are Shit out of luck. They won't ship it. We had to use baby wipes on the whole back end of our vehicle since the car wash didn't get it all off. If you can go to the Atlanta location. A little update. After we made our complaint the manager at the main office in Brunswick, GA called us back. He showed that he cared deeply about how we felt and was very apologetic. Not many take the time to actually call back and figure out what happened and how to fix it. read more

I had my car shipped here from Germany due to a PCS and they damaged my car to the point that I had to get rid of the car. Long story short they parked my car in a parking lot that floods, so when it rained my car was flooded. These idiots then took no responsibility for the damage, calling it an "act of God" which according to them they cannot be held responsible for. The most they would do is clean the carpet in my car... and they didn't even do a good job at that. Then after I called and filed a claim with my insurance company the VPC wouldn't speak to me directly, instead telling me I had to have my insurance company call on my behalf. From speaking to my insurance company (USAA) they tell me this is a common occurrence with this VPC. The frosting on the cake is when I went to pick up my car the oil dipstick had been broken in half... when I asked how it happened they just shrugged and said I don't know. This place sets a new low in professionalism and is the epitome of the "good o'l boy" system so prevalent in Charleston. read more

This is the location where the military and the federal government ship their vehicles. This site is not in very good here yet, but it is write off of Interstate 26. Take in mind that you need to be in the office by 3 p.m. In order to fully processed for the day. The process takes a little over an hour if everything is going to Wrigley. You need to make absolutely sure that your vehicle has a quarter tank of gas or less, it you do not there are a list of three or four places within about a5 mile radius that can take the gas out for you body costs about $30 to do that and about 25 minutes. It's not just shove a tube down your tank anymore and siphon it out. When it comes to cleanliness if you washed your car before you come in from out of town you should be okay with maybe a few wipes in the front of your bugs front bumper. They need to know your mileage, they need to seek your orders, 3 copies, and they need to have your vehicle registration and you have to show your ID. Inspection is very thorough and they put everything inside your car into a box and then put that in the trunk. Do not have anything such as towels or water bottles or anything in your car besides the format is Jack some small tools that's it . The ladies in the office are thorough and fairly friendly if you are nice to them and not rude. There is a copy machine there and they will be helpful to get you a cab if you need a cab back to the hotel or a listing for the rental car companies. read more

Very strict about the gas meter reading under 1/4 (literally better be under) and the 2!ladies I he front take forever. They take their time, make phone calls, check Facebook while you're still waiting to be seen and then finally when they check your stuff they tell you what's wrong and won't process any further. Absolute terrible experience thus far, and I have yet to even pick up my vehicle. The customer support blows you off, as well as when you call into the Charleston location. Additionally, the hours required to pick up your vehicle are not realistic or acceptable. Customers have to drive four plus hours, Monday to Friday. Therefore, military personnel have to take time off, which is impossible for single military personnel with obligations/duties. If I could give a thumbs down and 0 stars, I would. If I could give no stars, I would. You may as well drive your vehicle down here, go directly to a new car dealer, and buy a new car. Be sure you dont drive it on the way fro. The dealer, because you might get some dust on it. God forbid you hit a bug enroute. I spent hours cleaning our van the day before getting up at 0400 in the morning to drive from Fort Bragg down to Chatleston VPC. When I got there, the check-in lady went out and wiped her hand behind all the wheel wells. She showed me her hand, and there was a tiny bit of dust on it, so she determined the car was dirty. I had to go wash it, again. I spoke with the facility manager when I returned and I had him show me the regulation on vehicle cleanliness requirements. It said no dirt, mud, soil, etc; nothing about bugs or dust. When I pointed this out, the facility manager's attitude changed and he became confrontational and dispite what the regulation stated, said dust was dirt. I think it is unreasonable to expect service members to drive hundreds of miles, sometimes necessitating getting the entire family up at 0400 in the morning to drive down in two vehicles (you only get paid mileage for one vehicle, and no per diem), just to have the VPC facility inspectors make up stricter cleanliness requirements than the regulation states, then justify it by saying "we have to be able to inspect the vehicle", as if a little dust or bugs would prevent that. Charleston VPC is the worst VPC I have had the displeasure of dealing with in my 21 years and 6 encounters with VPC personnel and facilities. read more

The two old ladies working the front make you have your gas needle below a 1/4 of the tank in order for them to start the paperwork process instead of it being on the 1/4 of a tank line. They made me wait 2 hours and my appointment was at 0830. Also the black guy who did the inspection drove my truck around the back like he owned it meaning he was handling my truck like a maniac and I had to curse him out and tell his ass off!
