Dear Visitor, We have been living in Camden for years. We…read morecan give you a range of reasons why to shop at 'Dean's Fruits'. Maybe not as varied as Dean's range of fruits but... I. Social Responsibility The imminent power of retail chains and supermarkets is becoming quite apparent. Therefore, we should support small retailers as much as possible. II. Parenthood My 3year old daughter Thalia loves choosing fruits from the stall. She loves the real shopping experience and the earlier on she learns about the origin of food the better. III. Freshness We like to start eating fruits soon after we got them. At the stall we can pick the ripeness of fruits and don't have to wait days until they 'ripen'. IV. Friendliness Dean is a 'real' experience; welcoming and always down to earth. In January, you stick around for a couple of hours and you will experience how hard the job actually is. At that point you will appreciate Dean's warmth even more. He represents a trade that we should cherish and support. V. Cost Effectiveness You can choose the quantities you really need. Also, we eat quite a lot fruits and it makes a real difference in price. I assume that the fruits are about half the price of where we shop normally: M&S. So, go to Inverness Street, experience yourself and take your pick! Thanks Dean. See you tomorrow :) Rhys

Totally agree- why buy fruit at the supermarket when at the market…read more 1) it is better quality (eg ripe) 2) it is cheaper 3) has practically no packaging I have been shopping in Inverness street market and buying my fruit from Dean for the last 10 years. He is reliable - will advise you on the choice every week. If we do not support our local small shops, we will lose them and all we will have left is more T-shirt stalls and supermarkets! Lucia

Not to mention I'm a sad, broke, ugly fellow who'se only intrest is watching Coronation Street. Reruns. But let's say, for fun, that she was keen on me. I'd take her to Clifton Greens. Why? Because all the food here is stunningly beautiful and everything sold is from the earth. I don't recall anything animal, or anything processed. No breads. No cheese. Certainly no bacon pajamas. Just basket after basket of stunning fruits, veggies, roots, berries and legumes. Here we are in November, when most green grocers only have root veggies and cabbage, yet this place boasts vibrant peppers, heirloom tomatos, exotic fruits, even Asian citrus. I love to cook and this is now my "go to" place for hard-to-find greens. In fact, Natalie Portman will be sorry she ever went for a different fellow and shacked up in the States. We - the non worthy - now have "Clifton Greens" all to ourselves. Is the other Swan dancer seeing anyone?

(Yeah, I'm kind of weird that way - looking forward to be shopping at a greengrocer.) But seriously, I always find their fruit and vegetable selection to be impeccable - fresh, beautiful and bountiful! On top of that, they have a huge variety of resasonably priced organic products, such as all kinds of dried beans, pasta, cheeses, müslis, spreads, dried fruits etc etc etc. I mean, this store is jam-packed with healthy goodies and you cannot be leaving this store not feeling good about yourself! On top of that, and this is really where they've won me over, the folks working here are always super-friendly. Not the in-your-face, let me chat-you-up-kind-of-friendly, but a friendliness that is subtle, but extremely agreeable to me. In other words: need your five-a-day and wanna support the local business scene at the same time? Broadway Fuiterers are your mates!

I forgot what it is like after years buying fruit and vegs in Tescos or Lidl. They have always seasonal stuff and it is worth a visit: you will love their vegs. Also they have variety of olives, something I really miss from home! You can pay by card with a minimum of 10 pounds. I love this shop!

Compared to the supermarkets it is so much cheaper. The price of cherry tomatoes and grapes are about a third or 50% less here than in Sainsburys down the road. Plus the quality of the produce is fantastic: those cherry tomatoes have never looked or tasted so good. There is the occasionally something bad, but this is a minor thing, and preferable generally to the tasteless stuff you get from the supermarkets. *except bean sprouts. I love it, and I love the cheeky staff behind the till; they're always up for a laugh and a joke ;) Occasionally some of the produce is not as fresh as it could be, so -1 star, but I really wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

There's probably only about 15 stalls, but you could do a decent food shop here consisting of fruit & veg, milk, eggs, bread, fish, olives, every type of sausage you can imagine (I settled on pork leek and chilli), amazing cuts of pork and even pre-prepared goodies like pies, chutneys and cakes. And if you get hungry while browsing you can grab a little pie to eat there and then - I enjoyed my butternut squash & spinach, and my hubby devoured his chilli beef & cheddar before I could even snaffle some. If pie isn't your thing, there was also curries, toasted sarnies and all other sorts of goodies. There was also a stall selling hot drinks which even on this sunny Sunday had a sizeable queue. ...when can I go back?
