The advantages of a local grocers are that you can select as much or as little as you wish and it'll cost a little less than the local Budgens, Tesco Metro or any other local vendor. As I say, it's not massive but has everything and a little more than you'd need and the staff are pleasant. Support your local fruiterer! Ian

They have a wonderful selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, some of my favourites include watermelon (a slice for 75p), huge ripe avocados, sprouts, melon grapes. This is the first place where I found salad sprouts - a common staple in the States - and they have a selection including broccoli, lentils and chickpea sprouts. They also have cool things like a selection of freshly squeezed apple juice, and quail eggs. Everything I have bought there has been in perfect condition, with a sell-by date well in advance of anything I find in the supermarkets. Everything is also hugely cheaper than at Sainsburys or Tescos, even half price in many cases. In this day and age, its also refreshing to have the opportunity to pick and choose, and only buy what you need - hard to find as everything is prepackaged now. I don't have a single bad thing to say about the place and I encourage everyone who lives in the area to check it out.

However, I came across while making my way to the tram stop on the south side of town to get back to Wimbledon It's an old fashioned fruit and veg market but the quality does vary quite widely with commensurate difference in price. Just beware that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true However, with many stalls to gander at, there is ample opportunity to pick out some good yet quality bargains, especially as most stallholders seem happy to let you pick and choose your own produce In addition, there are some bric a brac stalls and some food stalls selling mainly ethnic food I hope there's always space for places like this

I didn't think it was much at the time when I lived in South Croydon, but now I really do miss places like this. I miss wandering "down to town" and passing this market and then wandering pass it again on the way home. It was a great place, full of vibrant people, a decent selection of stalls including ones that sold fresh fruit and veg, bags, purses, books, watches, pendants, antiques, flowers, specialty foods and the list goes on. In general, the number of stalls increased during the weekends. As with most outdoor markets, there's potential for haggling if you're into that kind of thing. There's also a lot of trash, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder... keep your eyes peeled for bargains in the summer, such as freshly plucked berries at an amazing price! Towards closing time (around 5:00 pm), there were lots of bargains that could be had: 1 pound for this or 1 pound for that. That is if you can understand the locals, screaming in cockney rhyming slang. There is nearby street parking, but the best bet would be to park near the city centre and walk down. I was lucky enough to live within walking distance of this market.

As the sun made an unexpected appearance today (spare a thought and prayer for those poor people…read moreflooded out in Wales today in the middle of our alleged summer), I took advantage by walking from Tooting Bec to Tooting Broadway station today, a walk which takes you through an area filled with ethnic food shops and restaurants. I was pleased to see that it's mango season back in Pakistan and India, which means that the ethnic supermarkets and greengrocers' shopfronts fill up with boxes upon boxes of yellow Asian mangos. Beware, the price and quality can vary and quite often, the mangos are over-ripe. These over-ripe ones are fine for putting into desserts (in fact, they may be sweeter and more fragrant for this purpose) but they're too far gone to slice and eat fresh. There's such a wide choice of vendors that you should always insist on feeling and smelling the fruit from the actual box that you're buying and not the box on display. The colour and the wrinkliness of the flesh isn't actually that accurate a test of the ripeness and sweetness of the mango. Instead, use your nose - a ripe mango will smell sweet and it should give slightly under the thumb when you exert a little pressure. The slightly longer honey mangos come from Pakistan and the shorter rounder Alphonso mangos come from India. They're both wonderfully sweet and aromatic. Certainly several notches above the South American mangos you find in the conventional supermarkets Also, this being Tooting, haggle! If you buy a few boxes, you can always secure a discount. Daily Fresh Fruits is a bustling shop with a large selection of fruit and veg from a lot of ethnic backgrounds. They had some nice ripe mangos and I secured a good price from the chap outside. Cold mango is a perfect antidote to a hot day!

Do not on any circumstances let them "mend" your phone. If it does not work, they will not answer your calls, cut you off, deny all knowledge and basically not be truthful. A screen replacement should not be difficult but it has been made worse by the chaps at Daily Fresh Foods. Apparently they don't know when staff are coming back from holiday and are just plan rude. Avoid at all costs.

The lady was nice enough to get us a table even though they were fully booked. What was ridiculous was that we looked on the website which clearly stated you were doing bottomless brunch to find out that they don't even serve brunch which means food. We brushed it off and thought okay £25 for bottomless drinks that's okay we went there to find out that the website is wrong and there is no bottomless brunch. They suggested that we sit and have a drink which is £10-12 for 1 cocktail which is tiny! The security was also sooo rude they were looking down at us like we were trash! I feel that this a lot of false advertisement and they should sort out there website as it's super misleading! WING AND TINGS They were amazing! Super lovely staff, amazing food! Great beer! Market Row is very small & it consists primarily of food stalls, and it was very unappealing. Brixton Village is a little larger (although not nearly as large as the description had sounded), and it has lots of small restaurants plus a few tiny shops. We ate dinner at one of the restaurants and it was pretty bad (see my separate review).
