The staff who saw him first were professional, but as soon as Dr Patel went in the room, I already got the feeling that he was not the right fit. We greeted him, it was ignored. I was explaining my brother's condition and he didn't show an ounce of interest. Felt like he was only present because he had to. He gave us 5 minutes of his time, spoke to his assistant, said he was coming back- never did. We were told to schedule another appointment and labwork was scheduled. Never went back. Very unprofessional, impersonal and rude.

I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a neurologist. Every single time we come to this office,…read morethe wait time is well over an hour, but the complete lack of professionalism from Dr. Patel and his staff during our last visit was the final straw. We will not be returning. I brought my grandmother to her neurology appointment and asked if someone on staff could translate because, while I do speak everyday Spanish, I am not fluent in complex neurological medical terminology. Dr. Patel was incredibly rude and dismissed my request, telling me, "Well, you speak Spanish, so you can translate." When I explained again that I do not know specific medical terms, he argued with me and stated that his staff were Latinos just like I was. To make matters worse, while writing a referral to another specialist, he aggressively told me, "I don't want to hear you complaining that it is too far." I had to explicitly tell him that transportation is not an issue and I am perfectly capable of taking my grandmother wherever she needs to go. The unprofessional behavior continued at the front desk. While scheduling the next appointment, the receptionist told me to make sure we bring our own translator next time because "it's not her job." When I asked if this was a bilingual office, she admitted it was, but reiterated that translating wasn't their job--even though the next two patients in line only spoke Spanish. Just because I am there to support my grandmother and happen to speak English does not mean she should be denied proper language accommodation or treated like a burden by her specialist. This office lacks empathy, professional boundaries, and basic respect for their patients. Save yourself the headache and find a neurologist who actually cares.

Darshan Patel, MD - The reason why everyone is bothering and "tapping on the glass" is because their operation is so poorly run.

I don't even know how to put into words the level of disappointment in the lack of care I received…read morefrom this facility. I was so excited to make an appt here based on the reviews. The high desert isn't known for the best medical providers so I felt strongly this was the best place to get assessed for my sudden and intense neurological issues. I had called to make an appt with Dr. Nayyar and was told she was booked several months out. So I asked if there were any other providers who had an appt sooner. To my luck, they had a cancellation appt available with Dr. Zhang that following week. I went to the appt and immediately explained not only my current symptoms but my family history (which is unfortunately extensive) with connective tissue disorders, autoimmune disorders and Parkinson's. Within 3 mins of this appt starting, Dr. Zhang asked me "where did you learn these medical terms?" Which took me by surprise as I hadn't said anything that could be considered "medical jargon," I was simply using the medical names of my families' conditions. He then proceeded to accuse me of "googling issues" and said (and I quote) "You really need to stop looking stuff up on the internet. It sounds like you are just making yourself anxious." To which I responded, "I find that very dismissive doctor, I'm not simply googling things, I'm giving you the names of the conditions my family has and my current symptoms to help you understand my reason for the appt." This all happened before he had even evaluated me. Once I was actually physically evaluated, Dr. Zhang conceded that I did have a tremor and weakness that warranted both an MRI and nerve study. As I checked out of the appt and booked my follow ups, I mentioned to the front desk that I didn't feel happy with Dr. Zhang as he was dismissive of my concerns and would prefer to have follow ups with Dr. Nayyar, if possible. She said I should schedule my appts with Dr. Zhang so I have something on the books and that they would put a message in to Dr. Nayyar letting her know I would like to switch providers if possible. Two weeks later I got 3 emails saying all my future appts had been cancelled. Including my nerve study tests and follow up. There were no appts scheduled with Dr. Nayyar either. So I called the office asking for clarity and was told Dr. Nayyar got the message that I was unhappy with Dr. Zhang and they will no longer treat me at their office at all. All my appts were cancelled without warning and a letter would be sent by mail. I was not allowed to discuss it with any provider - just told to go elsewhere, while my MRI was already booked in a few days. I'm beside myself. I now have to start from scratch and likely go out of area, because I spoke up about feeling demeaned during my visit. This isn't how mature and professional providers treat their patients. I'm appalled and feel other patients should be aware of this unethical behavior.

Unable to walk correctly and do a heel walk, Dr Nayyar stopped me after I listed three symptoms,…read moredidn't inquire as to why I am on opioids and nerve pain meds and without reading my mri discs for a second opinion, she was quick to chalk my 5 mo neurological symptoms on stress from being a parent to three small children. The only thing stressful was seeing this woman. Just because a specialist is in the high desert does not mean they are worth your time.

He dismisses concerns, ignores lab results and test reports from other doctors, and seems more focused on doing the bare minimum than actually helping his patients. Instead of considering all available information, he makes his own rushed assessments--likely to justify brushing you off and avoiding extra work. If you or a loved one need thorough and compassionate neurological care, I strongly recommend finding a doctor who still has passion for their practice.
