**FREE PARKING* (see my update below)…read more Additional updates to this review is below. Note - Yelp system issue - All my photos did not attach to this review so please take a look at the Yelp page for the photos. REVIEW: Tremont Athletic Club just opened a second location in the University Circle neighbourhood of Cleveland. They opened this new location in December 2018. I visited for a free high intensity class on 23 February 2019 and I can't wait to go back. Classes all throughout the month of February 2019 are FREE but they do take a debit/credit card on file. They will not charge you unless you cancel before your free plan ends. Unfortunately, I was charged (see below). CLASSES: There is a growing list of classes to choose from. I attended the 10:00am Tabata/HITT class with instructor Michaella A. I haven't exercised in a long time so the class was hard for me but I definitely enjoyed the workout. The class was a mixture of cardio (jumps) and strength training. We used dumbbells and kettlebells of different varying weights based on your level of fitness. The instructor was motivating and led everyone through a great 50 min class. I've posted a photo of the Feb. 2019 class schedule or you can just go to their website. GYM: Huge. The athletic centre is big. When you enter, you'll see a large area open for individual workouts and personal training. There are all sorts of fitness machines here as well for building muscles. Around the corner from the main floor, there are additional cardio machines such as treadmills and ellipticals. SERVICE: Amazing. The young man at the front desk was super nice and explained the process of gym membership, classes, etc. I even called the studio to say I was running 5 mins late and he told me it was fine. It was nice of him to still let me into class because it was my first time here (eventhough no one should be late for class). PARKING: This can be a pain because the gym location is on a busy area (on a University campus) so street parking will most likely be taken. There was no street parking when I arrived. Plus, the gym is located above a apartment complex so residents are most likely parking in the area too. I found a parking garage around the corner but it is expensive ($6 flat during a weekend visit). During the week, rates start at $3 for 20 mins then $9 an hour. Since a fitness class is 45mins - 1 hour, you will spend $9 at the garage. I've posted photos of the parking garage rates so you can take a look at it. (EDIT on PARKING) -- I later found out that there is free parking at the University Hospital parking lot across the street. The gym will give you a hang tag to put in your car so ask the front desk about it. (EDIT on 4 March 2019) -- I enjoyed my free week of classes. They were fun and challenging. The free week ended on Sunday, 3 March 2019 and I was not ready to join as a member considering that $91 a month is way over my budget. They do offer some student discounts and employer discounts but none of those fit my criteria. I cancelled my free week on Saturday, 2 March 2019 but I will still charged on my credit card. Thankfully, my credit card company rejected the charge. I was still upset when I found out that Tremont Athletic Club charged my card even after I cancelled in person at the front desk and over email. TAC later messaged me (owner, Nick) on Yelp to say they fixed my credit card issue and offered me a free tank top. I thanked them and I do not need a tank top. I do appreciate how Nick (owner) handled this situation. He removed my card from their system and he sincerely apologized. I'm glad that TAC has fixed the issue as this mistake caused me alot of stress considering the personal issues I am already dealing with right now. I've forgiven them because this was a mistake but the issue is too ripe and fresh to forget right now. We all know TAC has good fitness classes and they care about their gym so let's just end this review at that. *** - 33 total reviews in 2019. - 243 total Yelp reviews. - Reviewed on 23 February 2019.

Life Time Fitness is a huge lifestyle gym and health center in Beachwood. It can't even be compared…read moreto any local gym, it's far superior. During my initial visit my tour guide referred to it being like a county club. Right on - upscale and relaxing vacay vibes. I have only remained a member for a few months due to life events and health circumstances. I was always very enthusiastic about visiting Life Time! AMENITIES: The club is very clean and every part of the experience is well designed. Everything you need is there. For instance, you'll get all toiletries and towels for your shower or sauna visits. The club well serves a variety of guest groups catering to their unique needs. Parents can use childcare service. Millennials can utilize pickleball courts. Retired folks can partake in a fun Arora aquatic program. There are numerous amenities: full salon, cafe, co-working cafe, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, pickleball courts, rock climbing, Pilates studio, personal training, yoga studio, chiropractor, cold plunge, outdoor bar, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, workout area, cryo, and a lot more. You almost need a lifetime to explore them all! It was an immediate "yes" for me in terms of joining. The gym is very spacious, you never feel constrained at any times of the day. My favorite amenities are the outdoor pool and Club Lounge (co-working space). The outdoor pool is Olympic size pool with comfy lounge chairs and lounges. There is zero entry part and swimming lanes. Robust Arora program (open to any ages) offers fun water aerobics activities. The classes are so high energy! The pool was even open into October this year. Loved the pool! Co-working space offered me a lot of flexibility working from the gym and taking a break to enjoy the amenities. The internet speed is excellent! CLASSES: Classes can be conveniently accessed via Life Time mobile application. Sign-up is easy. Timings are suitable for various schedules. EVENTS: Life Time hosts plenty of events for members creating a communal feel - karaoke, swim nights, and even tequila tasting. Some feature a DJ and cool decor. While most events are free, you'll pay for drinks. PRICING: Prices match the amenities. I paid almost $200 per month for a single membership. Not everything is included in your membership (Pilates for instance), but most things are. You get some discounts (such as the salon, the cafe, and personal training) during your first month. It's definitely a pricey investment but also self-investment. CANCELLATIONS: Membership cancellation is very easy. I was able to cancel my membership via the app. I was sad to cancel my membership but life is lifing. You also have an option to pause your membership and partake in online workouts. DOWNSIDES: To be honest in my review, few issues exist at Life Time: - Concierges are not always pleasant. I had this experience, my guest did, and other members mentioned it to me too. The service is very dismissive. You will constantly get referred to the app, attentiveness is rarely a thing. - Cafe prices are outrageous and far higher than at any other health cafes. I recently paid over $40 for a power bowl (Shoyu-Sesame), protein balls, and a smoothie (Açaí Bliss). It's convenient to have a cafe onsite, but prices are wild for the portions and mediocre quality. - Open hours for the amenities are ever changing and unclear. It's hard to figure out when the pools are open or when cafe outdoors is available. Employees I've asked about the open hours were equally puzzled. This doesn't well serve busy individuals with demanding schedules and need to pre-plan. - The parking lot is very dim at night. While the area feels extremely safe, it's still not the best time in the evening. - Onboarding process is rather chaotic. I found myself asking basic questions about creating a pass card, locker use, open hours, and sign-up processes. I was constantly referred to the app which didn't have most of these answers. Overall, I truly enjoyed the amenities at Life Time. I will definitely rejoin when my personal circumstances change. I highly recommend dropping in for a day pass to experience Life Time or formally joining. You won't find a better gym around!

PHOTOS attached below…read more I visited for a yoga class in January 2021. A former co-worker who teaches yoga classes there, she may not teach there anymore since the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, invited me to take her yoga class so the class was free for me. I believe the gym offers a free week trial of classes or just one free class for prospective new members. YOGA -- I attended a vinyasa flow yoga class and I can't remember the specific name of the class but it was in-between a beginner's class and an intermediate class. I enjoyed the class because the instructor (Elizabeth) gave good directions/cues between movements. We did the typic upward and downward faving dog poses GYM -- The gym is HUGE and has a lot of weight machines to use plus dumbbells, bikes, and treadmills. You can get all your strength and cardio needs at this gym. I think they have a pool too. CAFE -- The small cafe is a convenient option to grab a quick bite post-workout. They sell smoothies, sandwiches, snacks, etc. After the yoga class, I ordered a small breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon and it tasted good. It wasn't too salty and it was just a typical breakfast sandwich. I also ordered a bottled SUJA green juice which was refreshing. I won't join this gym because it's too far from where I live but if you live on the east side of Cleveland then this gym is a good option. **** - 36/150 total reviews in 2023 - 587 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 19 March 2023

I have a deep respect for the owners - their commitment to fitness, safety and cleanliness. I would recommend this gym to any fitness level. Why I love this gym: 1. It is not a bro-y gym. There are folks of every fitness level who are committed to improving themselves. No one will judge you here based on your current level of fitness. We are all just trying to improve ourselves and have fun doing it. 2. It is a safety-first gym. Jodi will go over every second of every movement to make sure you know how to perform the lift. And if the form needs to improve, she'll tell ya that too. But even her critiques come from a place of concern for safety. 3. Friendship. I moved to Cleveland Heights without knowing anyone - in CrossFit I/O I found friendship. Join, commit, and you will too. 4. It is a clean gym. I cannot stress this enough. Each piece of equipment gets cleaned after every workout. I have walked past the gym late at night to find the owners deep-cleaning the gym on multiple occasions. Their hard work on cleanliness means a lot to me. 5. It's about cardio first. I am out of breath after every workout. So is everyone else. This is the sign of a good gym. To the owners of CrossFit I/O - Thank you for giving me a home for my fitness. To people considering joining a gym - I urge you to stop by. It's a good place to work out.
