I had an excellent experience at VCA Mesa with Dr. Kimberly Moore and her staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind. I never once felt rushed, and I truly appreciated that they did not try to upsell or push unnecessary services, which made the visit feel honest and stress-free. Amber Shea was wonderful and so friendly, and Dr. Moore's assistant who took Ruger's vitals on 1/31/26 was also absolutely amazing,gentle, patient, and clearly cared about my dog's comfort. Dr. Moore took the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and made sure all my questions were answered. It's not easy to find a veterinary team that makes you feel heard and respected, but this entire staff did just that. I was referred here because my kitty cat was losing weight. We saw a veterinary internal medicine specialist, who recommended a further work up. A few days later, my kitty cat started looking really sick and I ended up bringing her into the emergency room here. She was admitted overnight for some IV fluids. She was seen by a team of doctors in the morning and they did more testing at that time. I appreciated that they were very good about communicating with me to keep me updated along the way. She was ultimately diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, and they recommended probiotics and a change of diet for her. Now that she's back home, she has really turned a corner and it is looking much better and happier. I am so thankful that my kitty cat was taken such good care of when I brought her here. I'm also thankful that they were available late at night when I was really scared about what to do. read more

What a disappointing experience. I was referred to an oncologist by my primary vet as my cat has a mast cell tumor. In hopes of getting the best care for my cat, I made the appointment and was actually looking forward to discussing treatment options for him. Instead of care, empathy and good bedside manner, I was greeted with dollar signs in the doctors eyes, she talked for a good 10-15 minutes straight without coming up for air - trying to impress us with her knowledge. None of which made a great deal of sense since she was talking scientific/technical language. Once I did have the opportunity to speak, I mentioned that it was a lot what she just told us and I needed it broken down so that I understood what next steps might be. They had my cat fast for his 10:00 appointment as well. I have 3 cats, so they all had to fast after midnight which is difficult for multiple animals. But I did it. And for no reason apparently. This place should be ashamed of themselves for the lack of care. They didn't even take his temperature so they wouldn't make him any more anxious. He was already anxious from a 30-minute car ride to the hospital. I was told that they could take a sample from his lymph nodes to see if it had spread any - but they discouraged that at the appointment because it may not be accurate information that they would get. The only real way of knowing would be a CT scan. At one point, the not-so-nice dr mentioned that my cat 'decided to grow a tumor in a not so great location'. Excuse me? What a horrible thing to say. I wouldn't take any animal there if they were on their last leg. Horrible staff. Patients are vulnerable at this point as they want the best for their animal - I know I do! And it's a shame that we are taken advantage of and treated disrepectfully when we are going through such a traumatic ordeal anyway. I had one last question about a steroid they had mentioned and the tech went to ask the vet, returned 5'ish minutes later and said - they are waiting to check you out at the front. I asked about the answer to my question and she said, the vet was busy now and they would have to get back to me later. I said that I understood clearly now - my pet didn't matter to them. What a heartbreaking, disrespectful way to be treated. They were happy to get their $$$$. That's all they wanted anyway. $347 for a consult with oncology and nothing was even done. Shame on you all for taking advantage of vulnerable pet owners. Oh - one last thing - they kept referring to issues that my cat didn't have because they were reading the wrong records. Came here initially to use the free wellness exam after adopting our new kitty from the Humane Society. Can't say enough nice things about the staff! Everyone was incredibly friendly, kind, caring, and gentle with our new baby. Options were explained to us without any pressure to do anything we were not comfortable with. Lots of vets seem to just sell excessive testing and medications and this was not the case. Everyone was gentle and kind, and we never felt rushed with the doctor spending more than adequate time with us. The facility was clean and well maintained and easy to get to. Will continue to go to this location, even though it is further out of my way due to the care we received and the fair pricing for services. Thank you!! read more

My 13 year old Boston Terrier recently started dragging his back leg. We took him to a neurologist in Phx where he had an MRI and was diagnosed with basically a ruptured spinal cord. Although the Drs at the original Hospital were correct with their diagnosis, their care for our Dog was substandard. We in turn, took our Boston Terrier for a second opinion at VCA in Mesa. Tucker was seen by Dr Tessa Meland who was phenomenal. She was caring, direct and very informative with what was happening and what to expect. She made us feel comfortable and informed on his diagnosis with no questions unanswerable. My only regret was not going to see her sooner. I highly recommend Dr Meland over any other neurologists if your pup ever needs one. read more

Dr. Beveridge is by far the best veterinarian I have ever met. She's so attentive yet relaxed and gives such great advice for my cat. He is healing nicely after a week of treatment for ringworm. I initially only took my cat, but now I am taking my sister's cat and my parents dog here because she's so great. She recommends great treatment plans but is never pushy and makes you feel in charge of your pet's care. I would highly recommend her for all pets. I also like that I can sit in during the appointment with my pet. A lot of other places I've been to only have a drop off service but as a pet parent, I feel that it's necessary to sit into your pet's appointments. It has helped me build trust in the care my pet is receiving - I am 100% certain my little Booboo getting the best care. Although the services are a bit pricier than other places, I think it's so worth it. read more

Turned away after bringing my dog for an emergency allergic reaction after being told to go here. No help.

I have been bringing my cat, Brutus here for almost two years, and would recommend any of the staff, especially Dr Danner to anyone looking for a good place to take their animals. My cat was diagnosed with Megacolon in August of 2022, and they take such wonderful care of him every time we bring him in. With the help of Dr Danner's advice, I was able to get Brutus from about 33 pounds, down to 22 pounds. I can't say enough good things about this facility and the way they take care of their patients/clients! read more

First encounter we brought our wiggly eight month old puppy in to treat a probable infected bite above his eye. Vet prescribed an oral antibiotic and an expensive gel to apply directly into his eye. I may have actually achieved getting a little gel into the eye of our strong pup on one occasion, but follow-up appointment checked out fine. Second, third, and fourth thru sixth encounters did not go as well. It would seem after returning home from our winter visit that this facility is lacking basic testing equipment for something as simple and common as intestinal parasites. I would follow prescription and dietary instructions to the tee, drive the distance and drop off fecal specimens at just short of a hundred dollars each to be advised results could take as long as two weeks, and they came back negative on more than one occasion. We waited and watched and I picked up messy stools all hours of the day and night for three or four weeks until we were advised it may be prudent to do a more extensive and expensive test for which results we again waited a week to find he was positive for giardia, a common intestinal parasite. Things somewhat improved with treatment and we headed home to our VCA vet here. One visit. One test (a hundred dollars less than the expensive test we waited six days for results). And we knew that very visit he was loaded with giardia. To say I am frustrated, angered, and feeling financially exploited is an understatement. And there's our young pup unnecessarily spending months of his growing year suffering with common intestinal parasites because of this facility's lack of proper basic testing equipment. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. We had to bring our little dog in for an emergency surgery after our regular Veterinarian attempted to remove bladder stones and botched the surgery leaving one in her urethra completely blocking it so it was critical we do a second surgery immediately to fix it. Vca was able to see us immediately and performed a second surgery that evening successfully. Due to the first surgery causing damage our dog had to stay in the hospital for 5 nights to heal but she pulled through amazingly. Everyone at this hospital was amazing from the nice girls at the front desk to the nurses who gave our dog extra attention and were so accommodating in letting us visit her daily & all the Dr's who called us with daily updates and especially to the Dr that performed her surgery and even called us on his day off to check on her the evening she got discharged. I have never been so disgusted by a veterinary hospital. I've had several bad experiences there. They ripped me off and misdiagnosed. The manager wouldn't call me back after very many calls to her. Very disheartening. I would highly recommend anywhere else but here. In response to your response, you absolutely should have my information as I have spent multiple thousands of dollars there and many years. I talked to your manager there who was supposed to call me back about my issues with the way you handled my pet, and then later the way you handled my other pet which was inexcusable. I finally realized it's time for a new place. She put me on ignore and would not respond. She had agreed that she would give me some of my several thousand from the last visit back due to mishandling my pet, but then would not return my calls. I gave up. So why would i message you again, when I got put on ignore in private. It's not about the money, it's about using animals for money that gets to me. read more

Good except that the late policy is enforced with a cold hard stare, an unfriendly voice, and lack of sympathy for the $50 they charge for being a few seconds over the ten minute limit. I wasn't greeted properly when I arrived and the receptionist confirmed who I was and then told me I was one minute over the 10 minute limit. When I told her that I didn't know about the policy There was no heart in the way I was told that I should know this policy as if to imply I was wrong and they were right and that's the way it is, buster. The vet was fine, but the way the late policy is enforced seemed rude in a passive way. And despite me being 10 minutes late, the whole appointment was very drawn out to over two hours. They were not busy. I had to wait 40 minutes for them to "mix the medicine for me." read more

If you're thinking of coming here for behavior with Dr Moffat, I can tell you from experience you will pay $500, she won't watch the videos or read the paperwork you submitted, will stereotype you and your dog and write down different information from what you said, then won't return your calls and her staff will say she's very busy with speaking engagements. If you're not a fan of that, work with your vet and a trainer, because this flake seems to be the only veterinary behaviorist in town and I'd go with nothing rather than a disappointing, unprofessional experience. read more

No one goes to an emergency vet unless their beloved fur baby is in distress but they were great with my bull terrier Rosco. They misdiagnosed my cat's urinalysis saying she was fine and her issue was behavioral. Turns out they said they didn't read the full report and she actually has an infection. Fine, mistake. They didn't get me this information for days and when I returned the call they didn't have any solid course of action until they were almost closed on a Friday, so I couldn't make it there in time. They weren't accomodating on staying open a little later or opening a little earlier when it was their mistake. Actually, Only reason they even made a treatmenr plan is because I called and requested the treatment plan asap as my cat is clearly uncomfortable. My cat was without her medication and uncomfortable for the entire weekend when she could have been taken care of and out of pain almost a week sooner. Still have yet to hear back from the vet with any sort of apology or followup regarding her screw up. Got my antibiotic and probably will not return. Don't recommend this place at all. If I screwed up a patient's test results I'd be stuck with a malpractice suit and they're lucky I just leave it at not returning. People make mistakes but the handling of the screw up was atrocious. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention we have received from VCA. After being hit by a car in Pinetop, AZ, my eight pound Havapoo puppy suffered a shattered pelvis and severe lacerations. The vet in the mountains did what she could, but, the dog obviously needed specialized care. Upon arrival and consultation at VCA, she was admitted and placed in their ICU. She required multiple surgeries to reduce the fractures and repair the other damage. Even after my puppy was able to chew her way out of the e-collar and pull out the sutures in her foreleg, the staff was utterly sympathetic and kind to me, never shaming me for allowing such a thing to happen. During her ICU stay, the doctors communicated with me regularly and staff was available 24/7 to answer all my questions and respond to my concerns. Huge thanks and praise for Drs. Elizabeth Stewart, Jessica Heuss, and Bianca Alva and the staff with which they have surrounded themselves. read more

Unethical business practices, bait and switch fees. They forward "estimates" of the fees, and promise to advise the customer if the charges are to exceed those prior to performing services. I had an estimate for $65 that turned out to be $600 of unwanted, unnecessary medications. When questioned about this, they claimed that the Covid situation prevented them from advising me a priori ?? So I paid the $600, and then they attempted the same scam again a couple months later. Worst vet experience of my life. A money mill, the doctors and staff care little to. nothing for the health of the pets. Will be following up with their licensing agency. Update to my review: made an appointment with a reputable vet, they said they had heard about problems with VCA Mesa ... which is supported by he dozens of horror stories posted about them on Yelp. Avoid VCA Mesa, Dr. Beverage, and Dr. Moffett like the plague. read more

I've seen every vet here and highly recommend each one! Dr. Funk, in addition to treating dogs and cats, is an expert with exotics (He used to own an exotics only practice years back). Dr. Danner and Dr. Moffat are wonderful and are always great with my dogs. The staff are friendly and I never have to wait long when I come for my appointments. You can tell everyone here cares about each client and pet that walks in the door. Dr. Funk even called me to check up on my dog when he found out he got taken into the VCA Emergency Clinic one morning when he was ill, which I appreciate very much. Dr. Beveridge and Tom did such a fantastic job with my dog during my first visit. They were very thorough, efficient and caring. They were very patient with my dog that has an autoimmune disease. I was so happy after our visit and feel so comfortable bringing my dog back to see them. 5/20/21 7pm to 11pm Dr. L and Michelle were so comforting. I am a young dog mom that has never had a dog emergency until today so I was very scared and upset. I felt like they truly cared about the care of my dog, Ducky. Their uplifted spirits kept a positive outlook and calmed my nerves. They were extremely knowledgeable, and gave me 100% of the information on what Ducky needed care for and how they would do it. Ducky is a pittie, and they didn't judge like most people do. They loved him like their own. I am so grateful for the care provided today and feel comfortable going back for anything my dog needs. Thank you times a million. And thanks for not judging Ducky by his breed. Just because a dog is a Pitbull, doesn't mean they're the stereotype. He's a big baby and these workers comforted him so well. Here is an update.. my hubby took our sick cat to VCA on a Sunday.. they were closed. Yes he too the cat to another vet and they were too busy. So my hubby brought Rocky the cat back home. On Monday afternoon 430ish Ricky was worse so again hubby took him to VCA, they could not see him and advised to go to the emergency hospital.. SO he did. This is my chief concern as Rocky passed away 12 hours after vet visit and no substantial care was given. Only offered at such an exorbitant fee that we had to bring him home. In my previous review a comnent was sent to me to correspond with the manager, which I have done. No resolution other than, I posted to their page in error. My issues are that, yes, my cat was sick and dying and we don't know why... the vet costs are so outrageous that no one offered any advice or assistance other than pay up front to get bloodwork started. This was so heartbreaking because we had no ALTERNATIVES. From NOW on, I will research my vet care like I do people care.. and still my opnion holds, This organization cares more deeply for $$$$ than our pets. Nothing will bring our pet back, but maybe I can help the next pet owner.. read more

The inconsistency of the information they provide to their customers is unacceptable. This is the health and well being of someone's pet. I was made to wait for weeks just to find out they still won't help me. I called weeks ago to check and see if I could use my friends CareCredit card to get her cat checked out because she's out of town for a long period of time. The woman I originally spoke to said I could use it, as long as I had an appointment to the actual vet, if I were to walk in for the emergency hospital, she said they would be unable to accept it without my friend being present with her ID. So I made an appointment and waited two weeks to get the cat checked out. I call the morning of my appointment, just to double check they will accept the care credit. The woman told me she won't accept it and explained something completely different than the first person I spoke to weeks ago. This is important information that people should know about, the least they can do is properly communicate their rules and regulations. Or at least have them on the website so people can reference THE RIGHT INFORMATION. Now the cats had a mysterious illness for two weeks and I don't know where to go to get help. read more

I brought my 2 cats, Martin and Willy to this Vet for their first visit after our relocating to Arizona from CA. What an amazing experience. Due to Covid restrictions they had a drive up and drop off process. Honestly, I was surprised at how well the process worked. Brought my dog in for ultrasound needed due to high liver enzymes. They never showed us the images however we were basically given the idea he had tumors around his liver and it was cancer. The tech never called us to go over the results. I had to call 3 times. When I finally spoke to someone she recommended more expensive testing like a CT scan. which was like $1000. This clinic is unethical and only about the revenue. I took my cat into this clinic where they assessed him because he was straining to pee in his litterbox. They ran a series of tests to the tune of $1100 only to come back and say his uretha area is a little swollen but he doesn't have an infection. They sent him home with meds and then called the next day stating he had sign of crystals in his urine. At the time of the visit, his bladder was normal size. The cat did not do good at home on the meds they provided for me to orally give to him. THEY COULD HAVE GIVEN HIM A SHOT FOR THE AMOUNT THEY CHARGED ME FOR TWO PILLS AND THEN A PRESCRIPTION I HAD TO GET OUTSIDE THE CLINIC! He kept throwing them up. I told them and they said to give him food prior to the meds which is exactly what I was doing. 3 days later, my cat was weak and could hardly walk. I ran him back to the clinic. They charged me yet another office visit and came back wanting $7000 because now my cat has a blood clot in his penis, he is completely blocked, his bladder is very extended and is going to die an agonizing death if we do not pay for the surgery. I asked them to drain the bladder and they would not do that! Their Vet would not let me try to find cheaper treatment with another vet by taking my cat out of their clinic because he was going to die an agonizing death supposedly. They forced me to put my cat down. I was hysterical~ I litterally told the vet that she was playing GOD with my pet over money and that was wrong. She was cold and calculating. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET AND WANT GOOD TREATMENT FOR AN AFFORDABLE PRICE....DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A HIGH CREDIT CARD BILL AND A DEAD ANIMAL. I got an appointment with him and hurried there. Once there I was just like another number, and he treated me worse than the patients. He barely would touch my animal, and I didn't understand what he was telling me. My wife called while I was with him and she had questions. He refused to answer them.
