My boy really likes them lol

I've been going here for a few years now and I can't see myself going to another. The staff here are all amazing. They all radiate warmth and are so personable; you can see how much passion they have for our animals and what they do.

Here's our sweetie, because he's too cute not to share.

Can't say enough good things! Our kitty was having trouble eating. Amanda asked detailed questions about what was happening, then got us fit in right away. Dr. White explained everything so well. She was patient, kind, and generous with her time. She handled our cat gently. She seemed knowledgeable. He required a procedure that night under general anesthesia. She went through all of the charges individually, providing details where necessary, prior to the procedure. Once surgery was complete, she called and again, explained what was done and next steps. She answered all of our questions and dealt with our anxiety in a calm manner. I'd love to also give kudos to the vet tech (Patty??? So sorry we didn't catch your name), who was friendly and warm, as well.

I was so grateful to the Calvert staff for making a last minute appointment for my dog Chico. While my husband and I were at work he popped his inflatable e-collar and the incision area looked irritated, I was worried he had licked it open. After calling three vets VCA Calvert was the only location to even try and get him in. They allowed us to drop off our fur baby and they promised they'd get him in when they could. They took such amazing care of him and the constant communication with us was so amazing and greatly appreciated. I was called after they examined him to talk about what they saw and possible options for treatment. I wasn't pushed to buy anything or do unnecessary treatment just to do what I was comfortable with, which I greatly appreciated. Prices were laid out beforehand and I received an email with a written note from the vet that saw Chico with great detail and explanation of his time there. The team at Calvert made everything fee so personal and made me feel comfortable and trusting leaving my baby with them. I was even able to get a prescription filled with them to avoid a second/third vet trip in one month. They also called following the appointment to follow up and make sure that everything was not just okay but better than when they saw him. I can't say enough good things about the team at VCA Calvert.

Calvert Vet is the best. They are the only vet in Pasadena who agreed to take my pittie Luhcy. The doctor Lacy was amazing. They made us feel right at home and Luhcy was feeling better an hour after leaving the vet. We are forever grateful to you guys for making our little girl feel better

They told me they could not see her right away but recommended I take her to an urgent care. I was surprised, because isn't that the reason you have a relationship in the first place, for when there's an emergency, to get her seen? It turns out she was diagnosed with diabetes and then had to go to another place for an overnight at the Cat hospital. I was told she should be seen by her regular vet for follow up. Everhart was unable to give me a follow up appointment other than having come in all day and stay in a crate to be seen. I did that, which severely traumatized her.It also made her blood sugar, skyrocket, which is exactly the condition I was coming into have get better, not worse. A few weeks later, she developed breathing problems. I again called Everhart during normal business hours explained the situation and was told I could not bring her in. They said "we are closing soon", even though I live five minutes away and they were still open for another hour. They told me repeatedly how shortstaffed they were because one vet was out on maternity leave and another was on her honeymoon. I'm sorry, this is a staffing issue that was completely foreseen and should have been planned for in advance. I ended up taking her to the emergency room, had an absolutely traumatizing five hours there. One of the questions was what is her regular vet and when I told them it was Everhart, they said "oh yeah, we've been getting a lot of their people here." Long story short, my cat was so traumatized by that experience, and I was so discouraged by the complete lack of access to non-traumatizing medical care (which should have been provided by her regular vet, with whom I had a relationship going back to 2017), that I made the difficult decision to have her put down at home. she died in my arms. Everhart failed me in the most important three weeks of my cat's life. Don't let them fail you and your cat. Go elsewhere.

Then, off to get weighed and back to the room. It's very clean too. The vet, Dr. Steinberg was amazing! The care I received was subpar. Dr. Buchanan was not available I had an urgent situation. I saw Dr. Oliver. She recommended an unnecessary x-ray for my dog when you could clearly that he had no problems walking. initially I was upset that there may have been an issue but as the day went on by the time my appointment my dog was running and was fine apparently his leg was bruised however she ordered it anyway Ching Ching and of course nothing was wrong. upsetting part was that she ordered it before she even saw my dog! When she came into the room to tell me that nothing wrong she was telling me how to pick him up? How to handle him? what. when checking out she ordered two prescriptions for pain. My dog was not in pain! And I didn't request it. So basically I took my dog in for nothing and it cost $353. When I called the next day to file complaint I was blocked by the receptionist Dawn Sunstorm who made it very clear that she was in charge she was the supervisor and the complaint had to go through her. When I told her I would like the email of the owner she was very hesitant very defensive and became very angry and argumentative simply because I did not want to disclose my complaint with her. I told her that I did not want to take the chance that she would share it with a person I had to complaint with and nothing would be done. I imagine this is what caused her to get irate . I kept my composure but she interrupted me would not let me speak and then hung up on me. Either way I was the person that was upset and she could care less as a matter of fact the second time I called she had me on hold for quite some time obviously she knew it was me. And when she got on the phone without even saying hello and without me saying a word said that she didn't like my attitude and that she is banning me from coming back canceled me out of the system and said she had my email and would email the records! Still hadn't said a word at this point. She continued to say that she has the authority to do what she wants to do. This is outrageous to me and I can't imagine that someone would treat someone that way when they're the ones that pay her paycheck check. I'm glad to know that they do not need me as a client. I've spent thousands of dollars there and I've been with them for quite some time. Thank God there are plenty of Vets out there but I will miss Dr. Buchanan. I drove 2 1/2 hours to make that appointment. Absolutely zero respect. because she's been there for years her arrogance and her controlling nature appears to be overlooked!

Unfortunately, my last few visits have felt more focused on money and repeat appointments than actually helping my dog. My most recent visit was urgent because my dog had an infected, actively draining elbow hygroma. We were scheduled with Dr. Christians Morales. Throughout the appointment, he repeatedly started sentences with, "It's quite pricey" and "The cost is pretty expensive," even though I never asked about the price. I repeatedly asked for a clear diagnosis, but instead received uncertain explanations, including that my other dog may have bitten him during rough play or that it might not be the hygroma. I left without a clear answer. However, when I later requested the medical notes for insurance, they clearly stated that my dog had infected elbow hygromas. Why was that not explained when I directly asked several times? I understand my dog can be difficult when sensitive areas are touched, but this office repeatedly presents anesthesia as the only option, even for a nail trim, without discussing alternatives such as trazodone. Continually putting a large breed dog under anesthesia should not be treated casually. I also asked how to stop him from licking and scratching the infected area. I was told to put him in a long-sleeved shirt, even though the hygroma had been leaking blood and fluid for days. I was then told to use a cone, which may prevent licking but does not stop him from scratching his elbow. I left without a realistic wound-care plan. He was sent home with pain and infection medication, but his condition has continued to worsen. I was told to return in a week if it did not improve, which would mean yet another costly visit without a clear remedy. While there, I also asked about missing patches of hair that may be allergy-related and a persistent bump on his chin. I was told that was "too much to go over in one appointment" and that I needed to schedule another visit. Three days later, I sent updated photos showing that his elbows were getting worse. It is now the following day, and I still have not received a response. I have since scheduled an appointment with another vet because I still do not have clear answers or an effective treatment plan. I understand veterinary care is expensive, and I do not expect it to be free. My issue is paying hundreds of dollars across multiple visits while leaving without a clear diagnosis, proper guidance, or improvement. I am genuinely disappointed because this was once a veterinary office I trusted completely.

On Saturdays they open at 9:30, I arrived maybe 10:45ish and I was number 43 when I signed in. That's not too horrible but the wait time was byyyy farrrr the longest wait time I have ever experienced. At first I was a bit confused why the wait time was so long and the front receptionist said the wait would probably be about 2 hours after I signed in and they would call. Since I lived about 30ish minutes away I decided to wait with my pup inside my car (big big mistake he was so antsy after 20 minutes). Nonetheless I finally got called inside to get seen by approximately 3ish. I had to wait an additional 10 minutes and then I was seen. Once inside the exam room everything was pretty much smooth sailing. The vet nurse/tech explained the everything and did not hesitate to answer questions, she was very thorough and was easy to talk to. She overlooked my documents, and when the vet doctor came in he then overlooked my documents as well. They gave their recommendations and sent me on my way. All in all the actual visit was probably less than 30 minutes but the wait time was WILD. I will definitely be returning and making sure I get there EARLY if I go on a Saturday. They have a very simple process where you walk-in, complete an intake form if your pet is new, and sign in with your contact information. You then wait in the car until one of the office assistants calls you to tell you to bring your pet in. From there, you'll likely wait another 15-20 minutes before your pet is seen. On Saturday, I waited for three hours before I was seen. The vet and vet tech were professional and kind, and I appreciated the assistants at the front desk. The wait was annoying, but this clinic is a lot more affordable than going to the vet or even Petco. I would recommend if and only if you can go when they're open on a weekday.

We hurried over and he was taken back, assessed and the vet (Dr. Schmidt) came out to explain his initial thoughts, treatment plan and anticipated costs before proceeding.
