Be careful what you buy at VBS--if they choose to stop carrying the product, you will be left hanging, freezing in the winter cold. VBS sold me two wonderful gas stoves--Thelin Gnome gas stoves for two different homes. Mark, the owner of VBS serviced these and my Renai and Toro stoves through the years. When the company was sold, new owners kept the name, VBS, but will not service the stoves they no longer choose to sell. While the technician is clearly capable, and gives indication he would be willing to help us out, he needs his bosses support and they say "no." Clearly they are concerned with legal issues or some other financial fear for their young business. But we need to help each other out here in little Homer. At least it used to be that way. Check out other stove and heater stores in the area that will help you out when the temperatures reach the low twenties and below as they were this week when I asked for help. They said no, even though we spend significantly each season for maintenance on our rental units. I will look for new service for my heaters. We brought our toyo heater in for the standard 3 year tune up. We were greeted promptly and professionally, filled out basic info then directed to pull up to the service door. The staff helped us unload our unit from our vehicle. During the tune up the service tech found a faulty gasket, which he replaced. When we picked up our toyo the staff helped us load it back into our vehicle. We installed back at home. Not only does our toyo seem to be running more efficiently but it's much quieter! Stole my money! Sold me a broken machine, couldn't fix it, lied to me about what they would do to make it right, admitted to their faults but made excuses saying they can't refund me fully because they need to be able to make money off the broken machine that they are going to finally fix for themselves and try to resell. They did not care that they left me without any heat for multiple days/nights. They tried to blame it on fuel or install (something non machine related)even though everything at my home was inspected by their team and they could not find any problems with the fuel or install. I now have my new machine from Spenard's hooked up and it's been running perfectly with no errors or faults for over a month now. The problem was clearly the broken machine from VBS, not anything fuel or install related on my end.. but I'm still left without my money.
