A true hidden gem in Kansas…read more The menu brings a vintage Route 66 vibe with a classic Kansas twist that makes the whole experience feel nostalgic in the best way. Everything is made fresh to order, so don't expect a quick in-and-out meal unless you call ahead. The wait is part of the process, and honestly, it shows in the quality. If you are vegan or vegetarian, there are a few things to be aware of. The menu can be a bit misleading. The grill top and utensils are shared with meat, and all fried food is cooked in beef tallow. That means fried items are not vegan or vegetarian. If cross contamination is a concern, I recommend letting the staff know so they can change gloves and sticking with options like a salad without meat toppings. The staff was extremely friendly and happy to answer questions, which made navigating the menu much easier. I didn't notice a microwave, and it was pretty busy during my visit, but it might be worth asking if the black bean or vegan patty can be prepared separately. There are gluten free and keto options on the menu. Others in my group really enjoyed their meals, and my salad was fresh presented well. I would definitely come back. I just wish there were more clearly food prepseparated options for vegetarian and vegan dishes so more people could fully enjoy what they offer. OH and if you dare, there is a food challenge with their habanero sauce!

The place gave me a fast casual eatery vibe but also a little feel of grandma's house because of this small glass showcase they had with some items in it. All food items are priced decently. I got the blackened fish with rice and fries and my husband got the Hornet Burger with fries. Both dishes were really good. The fish was cooked just right, moist and seasoned really well. The burger was also done perfectly with a juicy tasty patty. Fries were fresh and crispy...cherry on top!! Service was quick and the staff was very sweet. The restaurant was also very clean. They even have some of their own sauces and salsas for sale, plus some grab-and-go options which is nice and convenient especially for college students. Note - they also have a Do-B's reaper burger challenge which sounds fascinating. However, I don't ever think i will be able to try it ever Haha. To conclude - 5/5 for me.

It has a very different vibe and menu than the other places in town which is a nice switch up but it is outside of the main area of town a bit (still only like a 3-5 minute drive from downtown so not bad at all). They have amazing sandwichs, soups, and charcuterie boards. Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. The outdoor seating area is quite vast with plenty of room to spread out and get some fresh air when it's nice out! All the employees were super nice and willing to give honest suggestions on what to get. I would love to do a wine tasting and try other menu items next time I visit! Add this place to your list for your next trip!

Came in for my normal start of spring trip after…read morejust being here in late fall, and the whole inside is different (less retail, more space) and several new kitchen remodel upgrades. It looks clean but isn't the same home-y spot we all loved. The kicker, though, is they changed the menu boards which now don't tell you what things are and they've like everyone else increased prices of normal items, including items that used to be included. Sandwiches used to come with chips, and now sandwiches are more and the small single size of chips are $4! Apparently they didn't read PepsiCo just missed a billion dollars in sales because they keep raising prices on Doritos. I can see add-ons for high quality products like soup, specialty fries, etc. I also know GDFC has expanded into KC, and I've been and spent healthy money at that luxury spot several times. But c'mon, this is just ludicrous charges at this point. When I realized the chip change, I asked for a refund of those alone, and the new sales terminal system took forever for multiple people to figure out. The manager on duty had to ultimately refund the whole thing, and reorder my entire order, meaning it's now cost all of us money in time. The staff is completely different - there's a chef in the back wearing a white coat like it's fine dining... the rest of the staff is friendly enough, but also not the same level of home we all got used to for many years. My sandwich finally came out, and it looks nothing like what we used to get - the Cuban is on a hoagie style roll. Not even that good anymore. No more winery inside, and limited drink options overall. And no more fresh ice cream, just overpriced "soft serve." I know we're in times that are a'changin... but some of it has gone too far. Hopefully they keep the same level of loyal business I imagine they had before. My loyalty has definitely shifted instantly to once in a while, if that.

I had been following for YEARS on Facebook (can't even remember how I found them!), and have since moved out of town, but I wanted to give my dad a surprise gift for Valentine's Day. I messaged the business on Facebook, and within minutes, Stacy responded to my inquiry. She made it so easy to order a gift basket and even offered to have it delivered to his home. I was blown away and incredibly appreciative of such great service. For a gift basket of 3 cheeses, sausage, beef sticks, crackers, jelly, and a cutting board and knife, it was only $65! They also threw in a couple of chocolates and a handwritten card to make it special :) Everything (I'm told) was super tasty, with the Habanero Ghost Pepper cheese being a favorite. I'm excited to continue gifting Stumpy's to friends and family in the Topeka area and beyond.

Douglas Avenue Chop Shop addresses this need, providing a good old fashion butcher shop veneer with the curated selection of produce that you would expect as the millennial you probably are, because who else would bother searching for artisanal butcher shops on a website. The meat is all top-notch, though you're going to pay what is perhaps the highest prices in town for the privilege. If they haven't sold out of the cut you want, that is. The deli cases with the small selection of cured meats and cheeses is exemplary, offering many items that you're not going to find anywhere else. No longer will you have to substitute pancetta for gunaciale in your Carbonara recipe. During the week they make sandwiches using their meats and Crust & Crumb bread. They sell them in the shop and down the street at Reverie, but those are even harder to come by. The sausages are iffy. It's nice to see them making their own product, but the Dale's Pale Ale sausage had too much beer, affecting the texture of the meat. The duck sausage burst apart when I tried to cook it. Maybe it was just me. I did have a sage sausage at Fork and Fennel that was enjoyable, so your mileage may vary. The best part about DACC is that it's owned by Schane Gross, who also owns the excellent Anchor next door and Fork and Fennel down the street. As such, both of these restaurants have their own healthy supply of the products on sale at Douglas Avenue Chop Shop, and you can find them all over their respective menus. Judging by its immediate popularity, it's safe to say Wichita has been looking for a purveyor of fine meats for quite some time. In almost every aspect, it was executed successfully. It'll cost you, but Douglas Avenue Chop Shop is the best the city has to offer.

There is ample parking and this store is located in a strip mall so there is easy access. Everything is sparkling clean and has a very nice atmosphere about the shop. Tremendously impressed with this gem of a shop.
