I also appreciated that they've made good suggestions when I've mentioned the cost of upgrading my plumbing and offered me options that made the cost more within reach. For the last call, a regular cleaning could have caused damage to the sewer line which was breaking and was full of roots, so they water-flushed the blockage instead to get the water moving and I realized, it was time to replace the sewer line before it was too late. I received a discount as a repeat customer. The whole process took less than two days. Mike and Anatoliy came out to do the work. They covered the ground with tarps to minimize cleanup later, digging was a few feet deep but confined to the location of the line, narrow to the point that they saved a favorite rose bush that I was supposed to dig out. I appreciated seeing part of the removal process and the explanation of the original sewer material, how it was installed and how that eventually led to the wear. The work on day one didn't take that long and the pipe was installed and the cleanouts were upgraded to current standards. They handled the permit and scheduling for the inspection and it was passed by late morning so that Mike could. complete the work. The whole removal and installation hardly interrupted my water use. When asked regarding why the cost was so high for what seemed like a small project, Paul replied that it was for "labor time and materials" and the price dropped to 400. Due to prevailing rates for plumbers in our area, we believed that it would take some time to ensure the job was done correctly, including properly flushing the lines and installing the valves, and thus agreed. Paul was done in less than 45 minutes and we paid him. Two days later we had to call a different plumber because we had a leak due to the fact that Paul never properly flushed the lines before installing the valves. As a result, we have water damage to our kitchen cabinet now, and had to pay another plumber 150 dollars to flush the lines that we thought had been done right the first time. Upon reading the Code of Ethics on the Ben Franklin Website , I believed Paul had violated a number of their covenants, including but not limited to Integrity (we are forthright and truthful with customers, employees, vendors, and other stakeholders. We keep our promises) Excellence (We design, install, service, and repair plumbing systems and parts in strict accordance with the highest industry standards) and Respect for Others (We Treat Our Customers, fellow employees, and other industry professionals with the utmost respect). After filing the complaint via the Code of Ethics section of his website, Paul called to follow up.
