Finally, we had flooding in our basement. Twice, about 6 months apart. The first time, despite my anxiety, he managed to convince me that we should not grab someone for a Sunday emergency service, since that's going to be way more expensive. He was right, because at the time the issue was both intermittent and thus unsolvable. We didn't see the issue again for about 10 months. Fast-forward, and the issue happened again. This time we caught it and figured out exactly what needed to be done. His team fixed it quickly and hopefully, we won't see the issues again.

I am inclined to say they do good work but at the time I called it was in the middle of a cold snap when it was a gold rush of sorts as this was happening all around and they were going to take advantage of the situation. I don't know if I would use them again as I had one very good experience and then avoided using them a second time and getting milked.

An electrician then came out but couldn't figure out how to connect things. Frank painstakingly tested all of the wires in varying combinations and while connecting and disconnecting thermostat and condenser wires to figure out the mess of wires. Eventually, he got it working. He's also an extremely nice guy, who charged something very reasonable given the amount of time he spent working everything out. We will definitely be calling Frank next time we need HVAC help.

Some installations required repeated adjustments, certain problems were not properly diagnosed the first time, and there were ongoing airflow issues that were never fully resolved. This led to rework and ongoing troubleshooting that a homeowner should not expect from a professional contractor. More concerning was how accountability and professionalism were handled afterward. Items and tools belonging to me that were borrowed during the work were not returned when requested, and communication around resolving this was dismissive rather than professional. This is something consumers should be mindful of when allowing access to their home and property. Based on the quality control, the need for repeated corrections, and how disputes and borrowed property were handled, I can no longer recommend this contractor. I'm sharing this so future customers can make an informed decision and set very clear expectations up front.

R&M said a single system to serve all three levels could be installed, and that is exactly what they did. This involved running ductwork throughout the house, which they were able to do above the ceilings and through a few closets without having to cut into any of the rooms. Even during the day when our sky lights produce a greenhouse effect, the system is struggling. In the last hour, from 12:30 to 1:30pm, the temperature went from 62 to 72, but only with assistance by the skylights producing that greenhouse effect. Higher mini splits result in a lowered ability to keep the room warm, that's a well-known fact, and everyone knows it. But they pull out the manual that doesn't explicitly provide a maximum height despite the fact that every other company gives a max height and every other online resource (other mini split manufacturers, other local and nationwide installers, energy companies themselves, etc) all give varying max install heights that are way lower than. Our install height. They should have ASKED us for permission to install it that high. I would have NEVER approved that. That's not the only problem we had with the install. If they lower the mini split to a more reasonable height, we'll change this rating. For now, our electricity bill went UP, not down, so it's a $32000 waste of money. I'm not happy with this install.

Couldn't ask for a better system or company to install and work with. Scott is a super nice guy and very conscientious. Because of the great results we had with the first purchase, we selected Carey & Walsh for our second Heater, a boiler system. Weil McLain. Scott and team did a great job with the installation. Went seamlessly. We also purchased two WiFi thermostats that also worked excellent. We did have a glitch with the furnace a year later but Carey and Walsh along with the oil company resolved the issue. In fact, Scott Carey called me off hours to explain the situation and help me out. I highly recommend Carey & Walsh for all your furnace & boiler needs.
