We had a full vehicle tuneup on my wife's Camry and let's just just say it was nothing but stellar. Belts, plugs and full brake work done in 2 hours at our home. Great work! Very disappointed with my experience with Ryan. My vehicle is a 2019 GMC Sierra, and I contacted…read morehim because my truck had a coolant leak and I already strongly suspected that the radiator needed to be replaced. Before coming out, he told me he would still need to diagnose it and charged me $115. After paying the $115 diagnostic fee, I was basically told exactly what I already knew, the radiator needed to be replaced. Then I was informed that he couldn't actually do the repair because the job required the A/C refrigerant to be recovered and he didn't have the equipment necessary to do that. His recommendation was for me to take the truck to a repair shop. My biggest issue is, if you're advertising yourself as a mobile mechanic/certified technician and charging $115 just to come diagnose a problem, I would expect you to either have the equipment necessary to perform common repairs or be upfront BEFORE charging the customer that you may not be equipped to complete the job. On top of that, I felt his labor quote was extremely high. He quoted me $700 JUST FOR LABOR to replace the radiator on my 2019 GMC Sierra. I ended up taking my truck to an actual radiator shop, and they charged me only $300 for the labor. That's a $400 difference for the same radiator replacement. So I essentially paid Ryan $115 to tell me I needed the radiator I had already told him I believed I needed, was quoted $700 in labor, and then was told he couldn't even perform the repair because he didn't have the necessary A/C equipment. Based on my experience, it left me feeling like collecting the diagnostic fee was more important than actually repairing my vehicle. I would not use this service again. I would strongly recommend asking exactly what equipment he has and whether he can actually complete your repair BEFORE agreeing to pay the $115 diagnostic fee.

He's friendly, very honest, and you'll be hard pressed to find better prices than his in San Antonio. I went in with a pretty bad fender bender (bent the frame and completely destroyed the bumper + other miscellaneous damage). Chris took a quick look at the car, called his supplier for the price of the parts he would need, and quoted me all within 15 minutes - with a VERY fair price that I would have previously thought was impossibly cheap. I asked him if he would honor the quote regardless of whatever other damage he would find and he said yes; and he did. The car was ready after 1 day and he left it in way better condition than I imagined he would (for the price that I paid). The bumper was perfect, the frame was re-aligned, he reattached the headlight, and who knows what else he fixed all for not a penny higher than the quoted price. VERY pleased. You better bet I'll be recommending him to my friends in town.

Frank has been very good to us over the years, but things seem to have changed, and not for the better. We have had almost every vehicle we have owned serviced here, along with sending friends & relatives to his shop. We just had our rear windshield wiper on our Lexus start malfunctioning and swipe across the window without turning anything on. I called Frank about it on a Monday morning and he did not seem interested in hearing about the issue. He told me he was way too busy and would not be able to look at it until Wednesday. I said that was fine and that we could leave it there. We dropped it off and heard nothing from anyone. I tried calling a couple of times and he was not there. We drove by on Saturday and Frank was not there but another mechanic said he took a quick look at it and could not figure out the problem. Seems to me they just gave up and didn't even have the decency to call. I talked to him the following Tuesday and he said they couldn't figure out the problem and continues to tell me they have been extremely busy. I really felt like they do not value our business after all these years and that is very disappointing. He ended up pulling the fuse for the rear wiper and we picked up the car today. Needless to say this will be our last trip to Wetmore Automotive.
