While on our tourist jaunt in Heidelberg, we were in the square near the church and hungry for lunch. Vapiano was within striking distance so we gave it a shot.
Interesting thing about this place is that everything is made to order. So if you're in a hurry or have a large group, this place is probably not for you. Thankfully, our group, which consisted of my mother, my sister, and my brother, were not in a rush.
My sister opted for the pizza, my brother for the tuna salad, and my mother and I wanted pasta. I will say that the pasta prep seemed to take a little longer than usual, as my sister and brother had already started on their meals prior to my mother and I getting ours. However, good things do come to those who wait, because my Carbonara was out of this world!!
The decor of this place is very homely and comfortable. Their pay system is also interesting, as they give you a proximity card to log your items, then take up to the cashier near the front when you're done.
All in all, a great experience in a foreign country...nothing like getting good Italian food in a German city! read more
