    Ask the Community - Vanvets

Hello. We have a 6 year old American Bully dog that is 6 years old and in need of having her teeth cleaned. Can you tell me if this a service you can provide and what the costs will be? Thank you

Hello Gina, If you go to our website, and request a hospital appointment, that's best. Our dental cleaning depending on the condition of your dog's teeth will cost about $250. Bloodwork if needed is around $210, xrays are $130, and extractions, if… Read more

We brought our two dogs in for vaccinations and had a great experience. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the team in the back was kind, gentle, and great with our dogs. Everything went smoothly, and we really appreciated how caring everyone was. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that we didn't get to meet the doctor, even just for a quick introduction since we were there for vaccines. Otherwise, it was a great visit, and we're very happy we chose this clinic and look forward to bringing our pups back!

I don't usually leave reviews, but I feel like I need to share my experience…read more I brought my puppy in because she was shaking her ears a lot and it seemed like something was irritating them. I also mentioned her coughing/gagging symptoms during the visit. The doctor we saw was Dr. Ledezma. We came in thinking it would be a simple ear cleaning, but she ended up being prescribed medication and additional ear treatment. After they put it on her at the clinic, her ears actually got worse and it looked like some irritation may have affected the skin on her ears, so I didn't even use it and had to take her to another vet for a different opinion and to have everything re-checked and cleaned again. For her other symptoms, I was told it was likely related to her recent spay surgery. Later on, another clinic immediately identified it as kennel cough just by examining her throat. I also want to mention she is a shelter puppy, which I did tell them. Knowing that, I would've expected kennel cough to at least be considered as a possibility, since it is very common in shelter dogs, but that wasn't brought up during the visit. During the exam, I also didn't feel very confident in the explanation given, and the overall visit felt unclear. Overall, I ended up spending close to $200 and still had to seek additional care elsewhere shortly after. I did reach out directly before leaving a review to try and resolve things first. They did offer a refund for the medication, which I appreciate, but that was the only adjustment offered. I was still asked to call in to complete the refund due to my overnight work schedule, and they only offered to refund the medication, not the ear-related charges (swab, cleaning, and exam), which made up most of the visit cost. For context, the breakdown was roughly: exam fee ($70), ear swab ($40+), ear cleaning ($40+), and medication ($40+). I've brought my other dog to this clinic before and had good experiences, which is why I initially chose to bring my puppy here. The vet assistants here was are always so nice I can say that. Having a new shelter puppy is already stressful, and this experience added unnecessary stress and additional vet visits that likely could have been avoided. I wish I had paid closer attention to the more mixed reviews beforehand. I'm sharing this just so other pet owners can make a more informed decision. I will not reach out again as this whole situation was just a lot and I gave them an opportunity to resolve this with a few emails back and forth.

The website had wonderful suggestions on how to set your pet up in a relaxing area, how to handle the other pets maybe wanting to say goodbye, and what to expect throughout the process. I especially appreciated Dr. Olsen walking us through each step again when she was onsite. Sometimes it is difficult to remember what we read as we are actually in the process and focusing on our last minutes with our beloved. Dr. Olsen was near but not hovering so we didn't feel rushed at all; we controlled the pace at all times. She made in-the-minute suggestions that I'm so glad she asked since I know I would have regretted not doing so. For instance, she and I lovingly put my sweet dog into a basket after she left us and Dr. Olsen asked if I would like to carry her out. I balked at first but I'm so glad I did. It helped in my process of letting my darling go. Dr. Olsen had made the back of her SUV a loving tribute as I slid the basket into the back of the vehicle with a blanket for the basket to lay on and a beautiful sentiment nearby on an easel. I'm grateful to Dr. Olsen for making this difficult time as peaceful and calm as it could be. I'm so glad we chose Peace for Paws.

When I initially called to get information, I had a lot of anxiety and didn't think I was ready. I let the phone ring a couple of times and I hung up. Thankfully, they have caller ID and they called me back. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone being comforted in regards to my situation. It was beyond helpful in that moment and I will never forget it. A few days later, Dr Sarena came to our house and we said goodbye to our boy. It was calm, quiet, and peaceful. It's been six weeks and I finally have the strength to write this review because it is very well deserved. Thank you to Peace for Paws. They live up to their name and make one of the hardest moments a little bit easier. Forever thankful, Fred's Mom

We rushed him in when he ate some of his bone and looked like he wasn't properly breathing. He got extremely lethargic, started shaking and worried us enough to scoop him up and put him in the car at 10pm to bring him here. As soon as we walked in the staff welcomed us at the door and buzzed us in. They took his vitals right away and looked at his gums which were still pink so that was all good signs they said. His temperature was good, too. We then were asked to wait on the couch with him till the doctor could come talk with us. As we were sitting there, another poor doggie was rushed in with an emergency more important for sure so the vet was focused on him. Which was totally fine! As we were sitting there, Eddie stopped shaking and seemed like he was getting better, thank god. The vet did eventually come over to us and she was so nice. Dr. Kat. She explained that she felt like he seemed pretty normal and that sometimes that can happen and we did the right thing bringing him in and if it happens again we can bring him in again. She told us there was no charge for the visit, which was SO kind. We definitely were expecting to pay something for them checking him, but she said we were good to go. It was so kind of her. Definitely a five star experience. Every single staff member was so nice and just seeing them interact with the other doggie patients, you can tell everyone here really cares and loves what they do, helping animals. Hopefully we don't have to come back haha, but if we do need to go to an emergency vet, this one will definitely be it.
