Our greyhound, Flynn, had been slowing down, showing signs of cognitive decline and anxiety, and occasional accidents. His condition rapidly worsened to the point he could not get up without having to endure great pain. We knew that his quality of life would be greatly reduced but taking him to the vet would have put him through undue misery, fear, and stress. We opted for in-home pet euthanasia and contacted Peace for Paws. The care coordinator was very compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to what we were going through and helped guide us through the decisions we needed to make with great care. She told us what we should expect to happen before, during, and after the appointment and how we should prepare for it. When Dr. Sarena arrived for the appointment, she reviewed the procedure with us. Throughout the procedure, she gave us guidance and the time to say our goodbyes to our beloved pet. Her compassion and care helped to provide our pet with a peaceful and dignified farewell to his family. Dr. Sarena has a true love of animals and doesn't want to see them go through needless suffering and trauma. I highly recommend Peace for Paws and Dr. Sarena for those who wish to give their pets a tranquil and dignified end in the comfort of their home. Thank you so much, Dr. Sarena, for making the entire process unhurried, gentle, and compassionate for our pet and our family. read more

Peace for Paws was truly a blessing during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. Being able to spend Nala's final moments in the comfort of her own home meant everything to us. Nala always experienced anxiety when visiting the vet, and I couldn't bear the thought of her last day being filled with stress and fear. If you're on the fence about in-home euthanasia for your beloved pet, I can wholeheartedly say that Peace for Paws is worth it. Dr. Sarena and her team were prompt, professional, compassionate, and incredibly caring throughout the entire process. They helped make a heartbreaking goodbye as peaceful and dignified as possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for providing such a wonderful service. We will always be grateful for the kindness and comfort you brought to Nala and our family. read more

Letting your pet go is never easy and I am grateful with how Peace for Paws helped us through this painful process. The website had wonderful suggestions on how to set your pet up in a relaxing area, how to handle the other pets maybe wanting to say goodbye, and what to expect throughout the process. I especially appreciated Dr. Olsen walking us through each step again when she was onsite. Sometimes it is difficult to remember what we read as we are actually in the process and focusing on our last minutes with our beloved. Dr. Olsen was near but not hovering so we didn't feel rushed at all; we controlled the pace at all times. She made in-the-minute suggestions that I'm so glad she asked since I know I would have regretted not doing so. For instance, she and I lovingly put my sweet dog into a basket after she left us and Dr. Olsen asked if I would like to carry her out. I balked at first but I'm so glad I did. It helped in my process of letting my darling go. Dr. Olsen had made the back of her SUV a loving tribute as I slid the basket into the back of the vehicle with a blanket for the basket to lay on and a beautiful sentiment nearby on an easel. I'm grateful to Dr. Olsen for making this difficult time as peaceful and calm as it could be. I'm so glad we chose Peace for Paws. read more

Thank you for the kindness of Dr. Sarena and her caring staff. It was time for my best friend Fred to pass and I made the difficult but right decision to let him pass peacefully at home. When I initially called to get information, I had a lot of anxiety and didn't think I was ready. I let the phone ring a couple of times and I hung up. Thankfully, they have caller ID and they called me back. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone being comforted in regards to my situation. It was beyond helpful in that moment and I will never forget it. A few days later, Dr Sarena came to our house and we said goodbye to our boy. It was calm, quiet, and peaceful. It's been six weeks and I finally have the strength to write this review because it is very well deserved. Thank you to Peace for Paws. They live up to their name and make one of the hardest moments a little bit easier. Forever thankful, Fred's Mom read more

Making this decision was difficult and painful. Dr. Sarena and her team were compassionate and professional from the beginning. Quick responses and clear communication on next steps and what to expect. We said goodbye to our Maximus in our backyard surrounded by our little family (fellow pups included). I wanted to update my review to include the photos of the keepsakes I received later on from the cremation business that Peace for Paws works with. The amount of care and time they and Peace for Paws put in and presentation of the items was above and beyond in my opinion. I definitely was not expecting them packaged so beautifully. The items, like the frame and urn I chose was beautiful, including a name plaque for my cat. The best service for everything regarding the situation overall. Thank you again. ‍ read more

I'll be the first to admit that I was absolutely terrified the day Dr. Serena Olson came to my house. With a previous pet and a different vet, we had a terrible experience with in home euthanasia. When Dr. Olsen came to my house, I shared the nerves I was feeling and a brief overview of what had happened years ago. She made me feel much more comfortable and had a plan to make the experience much better and to distract my dog with a plate full of his favorite foods. I could not have imagined a more dignified or sweeter send off for my sweet dog Bauer. It was a very beautiful and peaceful experience that still brings tears to my eyes as I type today. Dr. Olsen has such a gift for making your pets last moments very calm and full of love. When everything was finished we all walked out to their vehicle and a sign was made with his name and flowers all in the back. Such a special touch. Thank you Dr. Serena Olsen read more

I am so grateful I chose Peaceful Paws. Dr. Sarena was incredibly personable and kind throughout the entire process, and she made such a heartbreaking day feel truly peaceful. The thoughtful touches meant so much, especially the gift bag with the candle, rose and information about pet grief along with the beautiful box to carry my sweet Peewee out, and even the option to submit a memorial on their website. They also followed up a couple of times after the appointment and sent a card in the mail a few days later, which meant more than I can say! Our fur girl came with us on a lot of adventures all over the west including Glacier, Crater Lake, Grand Canyon, Zion, Cannon Beach, Idaho, Utah, California, Oregon, and Nevada. When it became clear her health was failing at almost 15 years of age, we wanted her to have a peaceful passing at home. Our vet recommended Peace for Paws. Dr. Sarena Olsen was kind, caring, friendly, and professional during this difficult time. She took her time and made our baby as comfortable as possible. It was a peaceful process. Also our other dog got to watch his sister pass which brought all of us comfort. The vet also transported our doggie as we requested. She gave us ample time to say our goodbyes. It's so heartbreaking losing our fur kids, but when it's necessary, doing it at home in familiar setting was very comforting. read more

At a very emotional time Dr Olsen was very kind and compassionate. My old lady Nala dog was nearing 13 and was no longer living her best doggy life unfortunately. Dr Olsen provided available dates as it wasn't an emergency situation and was able to accommodate our needs as a family. I am very thankful for her in home service as my dog hated the vets office. She was thorough and thoughtful. Explained the process and gave us as much time as needed to say goodbye. She personalized her transport service and provided a great send off for a loving family pet. Today I had to say goodbye to my best friend of nearly 14 years. The last thing I wanted to do was try to drag him into a veterinarian's office and have him go in a place that he was not comfortable in or that he doesn't consider to be his home. The services that Dr. Sarena provides made this process so much easier on everybody. We were able to say goodbye in the most comfortable setting he could be in...his own home. Dr. Sarena is one of the most professional, compassionate, and amazing people I have ever met. I would give her a hundred stars if I had the opportunity. There is a reason she has a perfect rating on her services. Dr. Serena, THANK YOU for making this process easier on us, but more importantly, on my best friend. Well. What can you say. When you leave a review, a positive review, you want to express a certain enthusiasm. But the topic here is somber. It's heartbreaking. But let us move forward. Scheduling was easy and accommodative, and arrival was timely. I was allowed ample time to say goodbye. The process went fine. I was left with a nice display with our Yorkies paw print, and a cut of her hair, with room to add a photo. So that is it. And given the choice between the cold, harsh environment of my vets office, or the comfort of my home, home wins. We cannot say enough good things about Peace for Paws. We urgently needed to schedule at home Euthanasia for our 23 year old cat. He declined severely overnight on a Saturday into a Sunday and we couldn't wait until Monday. Our kitty most likely wouldn't have made it much longer. Dr. Sarena made an exception because of the bad shape our boy was in and scheduled us at the end of her day. She was an angel. So compassionate, so gentle, so caring, so sweet and we didn't mind welcoming her into our home. Dr. Sarena came to our home and administered the drugs to allow our precious Rottweiler to pass away peacefully. It has taken me 20 months to write this second review for Dr. Sarena. Nearly a year after we had to say goodbye to our boy coonhound, we needed to make the same call about our girl. Dr. Serena was super comforting and professional. You can tell she loves animals and cares about their families as well. Dr. Serena made the whole service very special for my bf and family. She went above and beyond during her time at the house. She allowed us to be with Charolette as long as we wanted, took an awesome paw print of her with a small bottle of her beautiful fur. Once it was time to transport our sweet dog. She was transported in what looked like a beautiful living room that was customized with her name. While in the back of Dr.Serenas car. Once the service was over we got a beautiful bag with a pamphlet on ways to help cope with loss, some bubbles to blow in your pets honor, and a candle with a flower. We had to make the difficult decision of euthanizing our beloved fur baby Gracie. Dr Olsen provided detailed information on her website, email and her texts. Dr Olsen allowed us to take our time, say a prayer and allowed each of us to say our goodbyes. Once it was time to take our pup away, she was placed on a gurney, wrapped in a beautiful blanket and placed in the back of her vehicle that was decorated with a beautiful rug, flowers, latern and a sign that said "not by our side but Gracie will forever be in our hearts." Dr. Sarena Olsen made a difficult, heartbreaking act easy for me and painless for my beloved 20-year-old cat Mollie. Mollie was the biggest scaredy-cat on the planet. She was afraid of everything; I would joke that we were two neurotic old ladies propping each other up. Despite my best efforts to keep her calm before the appointment, Mollie sensed my distress, and when Dr. Olsen arrived did her usual mad dash around and around the couch, complaining loudly, even though she was in pain. Dr. Olsen took it in stride and was able to halt her escape. When she was finally in my lap (her favorite place in the world), Dr. Olsen was kind and slow and gentle with the procedure. Once she was sedated and finally out of pain, with the doctor's help Mollie just slid softly into her next life. Dr. Olsen was so professional yet personal, calm and compassionate, and really listened when I asked questions. She left lots of little mementos that I will cherish forever. My ONLY regret involving the use of Dr. Sarena's Peace for Paws service is having taken SO LONG to give her a well-deserved PERFECT review. There isn't a single detail she missed, not one service offered that wasn't needed and deeply appreciated, not one procedure performed that failed to meet the highest standards of Veterinary end-of-life care for my sweet Bam-Bam. My 17-year-old Chihuahua Bammy had slowly devolved to where he was no longer our pet, he was a 24/7 patient. He was cursed with one of the worst possible afflictions to befall a dog, the dreaded Canine Cognitive Disorder Syndrome (CCDS), also known as "Doggie Dementia." His diagnosis came nearly 2-1/2 years prior, just shy of turning 15. I have no desire to minimize what other Doggie Daddies and Mommies witness happening to their beloved FurrBabies as fatal diseases and accidents ALL result in the loss of their one-and-only. But CCDS is particularly cruel in that, just like human Alzheimer's or Dementia, their bodies are mostly okay, but they quite literally lose their minds. They look at you like a stranger--they get lost in their home, at times getting "stuck" in a corner being unable to find their way out. Just prior to me feeling the need to call Dr. Sarena, The Bamster was out in the yard to do his business. He stopped and froze as if not knowing where he was--then whine-cried such a pathetic sound while hanging his little head as if pleading with me to say, "Papa, I can't take this torture anymore. Please let me go." In that instant, I realized all the extraordinary things being done to (or for) Bam-Bam were to keep him around just a little longer for US, not for HIM. I called Dr. Sarena ONLY AFTER reading scores of 5-star reviews heaping praise on her. That initial call sealed the deal--her compassionate tone and words of understanding and comfort were an almost instant sense of relief that I was doing the right thing and had contacted the right person. Two days later, the good doctor arrived. For those who've never been through euthanizing a beloved animal, there are no easy ways around what's coming. But the alternative is to take your loved one to a Vet Clinic with ice cold, antiseptic exam tables and all the frightening sounds that come with a Vet's office. That said, the procedures do not vary. There's no need to cover the details in this review. If you have questions, PLEASE ask Dr. Sarena. The doctor arrived on time. She was immediately comforting, knowing her mere presence in our home was something we ultimately dreaded. She introduced herself to us and Bam-Bam, in a loving manner only a true dog lover would understand. Her soothing words and gentle manner set us all at ease. Once the IV was in and working to her satisfaction, she suggested I take as much time as I needed to say goodbye. (I'm bawling again just thinking of that moment.) When I gave her the okay, she told me what to expect--how my sweet boy would react to the drugs and take his last breath. I read once--and it had a profound impact on me--that WE OWE IT TO OUR FOREVER LOYAL AND BELOVED PETS TO BE THERE WHEN THEY LEAVE THIS EARTHLY REALM. Now is not the time to "spare ourselves" the difficulty of the moment, choosing to leave them to a stranger as they transition. I thank God above I was holding Bam-Bam, sweetly assuring him he was going to be okay as he ultimately took his last breath and life passed from him. Dr. Sarena simply said, "He's gone," and excused herself to allow me to make a complete and total spectacle of myself. (Once again, sobbing while writing this review, recalling that excruciatingly painful, yet necessary, final act of love.) Assuming the doctor knew the time was right (based on me finally ending my bellowing) she came back in with a sweet little basket with a white linen draped inside for placing Bam-Bam's body. She asked if I would like to lay him inside, which I did. Now the kicker--she asked if I would like to carry my little angel to her vehicle which she had backed up to our front door. Thankfully I said yes. The open hatchback revealed a simple memorial for Bammy with flowers and welcoming decor for a beloved pet who would be taking his last car ride ever. She'd thought of EVERYTHING. I was flabbergasted. Euthanasia translated means, "A good death." Dr. Sarena masterfully provided my little old man just that. As I STILL am wiping tears from my eyes--good tears--I will be eternally grateful to her for making his trip across the Rainbow Bridge on his way to Puppy Lake such a beautifully spiritual experience. read more
