Today I officially stopped in. Come to find out the brand is young, having only been founded in 2005. Clothes are indeed made with natural fibers that are designed to be particularly resistant yet worn as every day wear. Mohairs, cotton, jersey, etc...thus I was not too off by picking this up in their window display. The shop is small and I felt like there was not very much product to see. Nobody said hello to me as I flipped through the clothes around the shop for a few minutes. Clothes are piced in the $1000-$3000 price range on average (not on sale and this is what I was seeing for fall/winter clothing) for stuff that I was not sure about on craftsmanship or quality. There were some unknowns in my head as I perused the racks. Maybe a line to watch as it grows in the world or maybe another Yelper can contribute more info about what I should love about this line or this store, but to me it gets a Yelp 3. I wish the store was closer to home!…read more Manila Grace is a women's clothing store located away from the crazy hustle and bustle in Causeway Bay. The store feels so fresh as soon as you walk in. There are lots of blues, whites, creams and other calming colors throughout. Manila Grace is an Italian brand that houses casual, chic clothing. The styles are very relaxed and the fabrics are light and airy. I saw many pieces that I would consider wearing in the store that looked comfortable, but also had a bit of an edge to them. According to my husband, who thinks he pegged my style, this is a classy hippy clothing store. Manila Grace also has some very unique accessories which are available for purchase. They have gorgeous scarves and I was infatuated with their partially woven jewelry. I found a necklace that I liked that was half rose gold colored, and the other half is woven. and the salesperson kept showing it to me in different colors. When I finally selected the one I wanted to purchase, she showed me a different length of the necklace which made my decision making even more challenging. Manila Grace brings style to classic comfort. This is a very popular style in Hong Kong, so this store will probably be around for a while. Prices are mid-ranged and they use high quality fabrics so that clothing will last.

The third floor of the complex is basically an indoor night market (but opened during the day time). There are so many food stalls, with more variety than I could imagine. They have Taiwanese sausages, Japanese takoyaki, local HK delicacies, and more. Aside from food stalls, they also have actual sit-down restaurants, too. I was not that hungry when I came, so I couldn't indulge in as many foods as I wanted to. If I had more stomach space, I would have definitely fit in some of the many bevs on offer and maybe even ice cream. But they don't only have food. They also sell random products that you could typically find in residential HK malls like clothes, accessories, cute merch, etc. I found some really adorable Sanrio red envelopes here! This place is kind of like a maze and it's easy to get lost in. My sister and I separated here and we ended up going home without the other because that was easier than trying to find each other again. The third floor has some benches circling the escalators area, but they're usually all taken. I was really tired from walking, and I would've stayed longer if I was able to sit and rest for a small break. The one star off is for the lack of sitting areas, confusing layout, and honestly could use a facelift. I would come back again to do a proper food crawl, but I'll probably bring my portable chair.

This is the Japanese version of Gap. There is a Sketchers store one level down too. Love how there's a Uniqlo by my apartment! And hate there's one by my apartment too! I probably spent more than HKD $2000 (USD $300) just in this store alone after paying 5+ visits in 2 months during my walk back home from the subway station... I figure I should write a review for them given that I have spent so much time there. Never really shopped at Uniqlo before until a friend of mine told me the underwear there is very comfy, so I walked in there looking for panties and ended up buying a jacket, a vest, a pair of pants, a few shirts, a few tops, socks, pajamas, eventually the whole store. The prices are generally reasonable and the quality of clothes are well made even though they're mostly made in China. (I know some people are very against it, but I personally judge the quality more than the country of manufacture. I've seen ugly stuff made in Italy before, although rare.. haha) I love the creative yet classy designs and cutting styles at Uniqlo. Beware though, it's Japanese size, so if you wear an American small, you're probably a Japanese medium. The staff in this particular store are very friendly. They had always been friendly and welcoming when I walked in. They acknowledged me when I was standing in line at the register even when they were busy with other customers. I would definitely come back for more clothes!

As I was trying to get my student card ready, I was in Mong Kok trying to find that place but I ended up getting lost somewhere and had to resort to ask for help. The way he told me where that was made it sound like everyone knew where Argyle Centre was. Well, not for me. I seriously had no idea where that was. I just kept asking everyone along the way. Thankfully I made it. Turns out Argyle Centre is one of those malls for teens. I realized that teenage girls love coming here and I can tell by the number of people in this tiny little small here. You can see all kind of shops and I seriously do not think that any guys would come here as most shops here sell heels, accessories, dresses and basically women's stuff. So to be honest, I was literally the odd man out surrounded by all those girls. Anyway, the stuff here is extremely cheap. Well normally for guys, my shirt alone would cost me a few hundreds, but here a dress only costs around HKD$50. Wow! Are you serious? Well, design and taste aside... you can still buy lots of cheap stuff here. However, I believe everyone knows this place better than I do. I am so ashamed to call myself a local at this point. So if you are looking for decent clothes at a cheaper price, come here then.

And I can't stress this enough - we're talking earrings for $10, shorts for $30 kind of cheap! Argyle Center is about a five minutes' walk from the MTR station. It's pretty easy to find your way - or you could just follow that group of teenagers in front of you because that's probably the way they're heading. The variety of things at Argyle is endless. You can find anything from backpacks with huge dolls attached to them to bags appropriate for you to bring for work - that's how much choice you'll have there. The mall is obviously catered to teenagers, but I don't think anybody could possibly leave here empty handed! Don't worry, it's not just all clothes and accessories - you can also find really fun novelty items and gifts there, like drinking games sets, offensive but funny cards and prank toys. If you're a fan of Korean pop music, you'll be able to find some shops that sell Korean celebrities merchandise like badges and posters. A word of caution though: some of the things here can be pretty tacky and cheap-looking - you'll see a lot of bright t-shirts with badly spelled words that make no sense and bags with so many studs nobody should be let within a metre-radius of them. But once in a while, you'll see a decent looking sweater or a necklace that doesn't look half bad. Most shopkeepers are willing to bargain, so you can get things cheaper than they already are! If there's a defect in something you want and it's the last remaining piece, don't be afraid to ask for a discount - you'll almost definitely get one! At all costs, do NOT come on a weekend because this place will be super crowded! You won't be able to browse much because you'll be knocking elbows with others who are trying to get a close look too, and it really just isn't worth coming on a weekday. Come on a weekday because there will be significantly less people! The key to shopping at Argyle is to be patient - you'll see some seriously tacky clothes, and you'll be bumping into other people because the mall isn't huge - but persistence is key! Poke around long enough and I'm sure you'll leave with a couple of good buys!

I know why am I looking for winter cloths in March. In USA, they are still selling winter cloths in March because the weather is still cold. So not to my surprise, the store decor looks the same as any other Uniqlo. Staff here are friendly. So you do get service. They say Thank-you for come to Uniqlo nonstop. Yes I mean non-stop. The season stock rotates quite fast here. All the cloths are for spring or summer. I didn't find what I want. But I still enjoy shopping here. I asked someone there and they did make an effort to look for me. So thumbs up to that.

Uniqlo offers simply designed, nice quality clothing for men, women and children, price is affordable but not cheap, unless you come across some really good sale, which does happen once in a while. They have a huge T shirt selection, both for men and women, often with designs from famous designers or popular cartoon figures, like Snoopy, Disney, Moomin. If you like T shirts it's dangerous... Overall, a fun and very comfortable place to shop at.

But most of it that I see is just too frilly, or too quirky, or too outlandish for me. I'll attest that it's true, I'm not bold that way, as evident from the fact that my wardrobe is give or take 50% H&M. Bess is one of the few local boutiques that I feel actually fit my style and has slowly become one of my favorite places to shop! The interior of Bess looks quite plain - the walls are a pale blue color and the clothes themselves are all either black, white, grey or shades of blue. There are exceptions of course, but that's basically Bess in a nutshell. These actually happen to be my favorite colors to wear, so it's not like in other stores where my eyes would just skip anything that's say, bright pink or pale yellow - my eyes are free to wander here! Bess is also quite often on sale; it's just a matter of the proportion of things that are on sale and are full price. The style here is effortless yet sophisticated, and most of the clothes here are more loose and flow-y than tight-fitting. I wouldn't say the clothes are incredibly girly, but they're definitely not athletic-type wear either. One of my favorite things that I've bought from Bess is a gorgeous black waterfall cardigan - it was the first thing that caught my attention when I stepped into Bess that day as it was displayed on a mannequin. The cardigan is of a thin material, but not too thin that you feel like you're wearing nothing, so it's perfect for the fall time. It's also super versatile and I feel like it could go with any outfit, whether casual or dressy. It was around $300 when I bought it on discount, which is more than worth it seeing how often I've worn it since! The sales ladies at Bess are very nice and helpful too, and will usually ask you if there's anything in mind that you're looking for. I've always found that the quality of clothes here are good too. I'd really recommend for anyone (well, just you ladies out there - sorry guys, but they don't do menswear!) to check out Bess if you haven't already!
