When shopping in Pacific Place, Zara is a must. In fact, the only fashion store where I've ever…read morebought anything in this shopping mall. As opposed to the rest of them Zara is not a designer store, neither a high end brand. It's a medium quality, good design clothing and accessories' store. We all know Zara. It may be argued that it does not match in this location but I think it's great that it's there. Today I wanted to buy a bag and it was almost an emergency...I had kept an old one for way too long. As Topshop in Queensway doesn't have many bags (if any at all) I headed to Zara. None of the other stores crossed my mind. What's more: I knew I could find what I was after - a big black bag, rather simple. This season is plagued with those, with a good range of qualities and prices. I finally got Trafaluc one and I love it, it does its job and it's nicely designed. They also have some pretty brown leather bags in this collection. I did have a look at the clothes too; Zara HK is different to Europe's stores (the ones I know) in many ways...not only the design is more minimalistic and the lines simpler but it is also more expensive and it's positioning differs from Europe's. I found the current collection a little boring but still, great to have a Zara just 2 minutes away from my office!

Sure, why not? Staffs seemed nice but not as friendly as those back in Atlanta. Nobody greeted us when we stepped in. We were there for a very long time until one finally approached us if we needed help. My sis wanted to try this collection skirt in ivory. The staff suggested trying the black color as well. My sis ended up liking the black more. Pricing here is even higher than US, I saw a dress on sale that cost double of the same which is currently also on sale in US. Guess we won't be buying J.Crew in Hong Kong or anywhere outside of US anytime soon. Store display was just like the one in US, feels like home :)

I gotta love this Topshop...not only because I walk past every single day and I see what's hot but…read morebecause I absolutely love the design and it reminds me of my time in London. Topshop, American Apparel and Urban Outfitters were my staple stores when I fancied going shopping and if I didn't find what I wanted in one of them it would be in the other...now both Topshop and American Apparel are in Lab Concept, downstairs from my office. And...Urban Outfitters is opening there too! Amazing. Of the three of them Topshop is my favorite one when I wanted something a little more fun. If I had to pick a category item I would choose their shoes. Unfortunately, as this store is smaller than the one in Central, there isn't a specific section for shoes and accessories and I couldn't find a couple of nice dressy shoes. They are really good quality, most of them from Spain or Italy (ankle boots mainly). However the clothes are what I expected - the usual fun, casual, elegant, eclectic, chic British style that I found in the UK, a little more simple and minimalistic (although that may be that the size of the store is smaller or because of the current collection). Nevertheless, the style still follows the same line. I've seen a few more dress-up trousers and shirts. And Topman is next door; if this store could have a section for shoes only it'd just be perfect! For that I'd still have to go to Central, or wait to see what Urban Outfitters will look like!

I guess I have one of those bodies where my neck is too thick and my arms are too short for any size I've ever tried on. Finally found an online shirtmaker with: 1) Incredibly high quality fabrics 2) Large selection 3) Reasonable prices 4) Guaranteed fit or they remake the shirt I took the plunge, had my wife assist me with the measurements at home with a tape measure, uploaded the data, and ordered a shirt. My first shirt (every man needs a crisp white dress shirt...and the texture of the fabric I chose is just exquisite) was perfect. Fit me perfectly throughout - the collar, the sleeves, the shoulders, the body, the drape. I've since ordered two more...and each has been simply perfect. Tired of getting an off the rack shirt altered at the local tailor...and it still not being quite right? Consider checking out Milk Shirts. Yes, they're in Hong Kong...but you cannot beat the quality of the fabric or the quality of the shirt making, and the delivery comes mighty fast for a custom made garment.

But I love COS and love that I discovered this store. I am not a fashionista, but I do love well made clothes that look taylored and yet have room to function and move. I always read care labels before a purchase and I do shy away from merino wool because it can pull and not wash well if not extremely well made. COS does have many pieces made of merino wool, so I kind of looked past these items. The clothes might use a lesser quality fabric on many pieces, but the cut and tayloring is current and comparable to items you would find in any high end retailer. The clothes, brand and price point kind of make me think of this brand as higher end than an H&M, less quality and cheaper price than Saks Fifth Avenue brands, equal in cut, structure and function as Marimekko and other equaivalent cut, high-end clothing lines in many ways and very current in the realm of what is happening in fashion. Simple lines, simple colors, modern. For business or casual, COS offers classic pieces I hope to have in my wardrobe for some time. COS is out of England. As stated on their website: "COS is a fashion brand for women and men who want modern, functional, considered design. Before departing for Hong Kong I thought to search and see if the city had a COS (H&M's high end…read morecousin) and to my surprise and delight, they had not one but two locations! COS (Collection Of Style) was a wardrobe staple of mine when I lived in London. (COS hasn't yet made it to the USA.) As a regular COS shopper I knew the sizing of the clothes here is often variable (in some items I'm an XS, others I'm a M) so I took armloads into the dressing room. I think this is a good strategy in almost any shop (if you're going to go through the hassle to take your clothes off to try on one item, you might as well try on six, right?) but even moreso here. Think you're a medium? Take a small and a large in with you too! This COS shop is on the medium-large side, with two stories and women's, men's and children's offerings. I tried on heaps of clothing and ended up going home with a fun grey jumper whose sleeves you can turn up to reveal a bright blue inside lining, an oversized sweatshirt dress and a cashmere hat. COS is definitely worth a look if you want to inject some Scandinavian cool into your closet.

Gap is always fresh and basic and they offer good value and quality. Keep in mind though that their…read moreblue jeans usually fit poorly. All other pants (trousers) have a nice fit and style. No matter if you buy slim fit, bootcut, boyfriend, shorts etc., as long as you stay away from the blue jeans, you're fine. For whatever reason the black, white or coloured denim or canvas pants fit well. The denim shirts, tank tops and grey or coloured T-shirts are fab. Just stay away from most of the dresses, the white T-shirts (usually see-through) and, cannot be said often enough, the blue jeans as they hardly ever fit well. Some of their attempts of designing "trendy" clothes have a rather sad outcome such as tie-dyed shirts and dresses with GAP logo. So not cool. The sportswear could be dryer (means more functional fabric/material), the sleep wear and undies sport a limited selection, and the socks and the men's wear are great. Always wondered why the men get great basics in most department stores and there are fewer attempts to sell them pseudo trendy unfavourable cuts and painfully unattractive colour combinations. And remember GAP got American sizes. So their "small" corresponds to (south) European "medium" and Asian "large". GAP please stick to giving your customers no nonsense basics because that's what you're good at.

Today I officially stopped in. Come to find out the brand is young, having only been founded in 2005. Clothes are indeed made with natural fibers that are designed to be particularly resistant yet worn as every day wear. Mohairs, cotton, jersey, etc...thus I was not too off by picking this up in their window display. The shop is small and I felt like there was not very much product to see. Nobody said hello to me as I flipped through the clothes around the shop for a few minutes. Clothes are piced in the $1000-$3000 price range on average (not on sale and this is what I was seeing for fall/winter clothing) for stuff that I was not sure about on craftsmanship or quality. There were some unknowns in my head as I perused the racks. Maybe a line to watch as it grows in the world or maybe another Yelper can contribute more info about what I should love about this line or this store, but to me it gets a Yelp 3. The Yelper who wrote the review in August of 2014 before mine loves this brand, but based on her photos she was shopping during the summer sale time.

I wish the store was closer to home!…read more Manila Grace is a women's clothing store located away from the crazy hustle and bustle in Causeway Bay. The store feels so fresh as soon as you walk in. There are lots of blues, whites, creams and other calming colors throughout. Manila Grace is an Italian brand that houses casual, chic clothing. The styles are very relaxed and the fabrics are light and airy. I saw many pieces that I would consider wearing in the store that looked comfortable, but also had a bit of an edge to them. According to my husband, who thinks he pegged my style, this is a classy hippy clothing store. Manila Grace also has some very unique accessories which are available for purchase. They have gorgeous scarves and I was infatuated with their partially woven jewelry. I found a necklace that I liked that was half rose gold colored, and the other half is woven. and the salesperson kept showing it to me in different colors. When I finally selected the one I wanted to purchase, she showed me a different length of the necklace which made my decision making even more challenging. Manila Grace brings style to classic comfort. This is a very popular style in Hong Kong, so this store will probably be around for a while. Prices are mid-ranged and they use high quality fabrics so that clothing will last.

The Club 21 Outlet was one store that got me really excited when it was my first time coming to…read moreCitygate, but I soon found my excitement falling flat. The store is pretty huge and the racks were filled, so it gave me promise that I would leave with at least one good purchase. It's even connected to an Armani Exchange outlet. But most of the casual ladies' clothes and accessories look outdated and a little ugly, and the ones that are half-decent aren't very much discounted. But that's just from my perspective - if you are a parent, this is the place to be. Tucked all the way at the back of the store is a kids' section - and the kids' clothes are, in my opinion, ten times more attractive than the casual women's clothes. The girls' section was filled with adorable t-shirts, some adorned subtly with the DKNY logo and others with colorful graphics of flowers or a city scene. There were some really cute coats too, perfect for when the winter months roll around. The boys' section had a nice selection of t-shirts, patterned pants and capris as well. Everything is pretty heavily discounted - a pair of jeans going at around $200 - so this is the perfect place to stock up on your kids' clothes. If you're a guy looking for suits and collared shirts, you'll be glad to know that there are racks and racks devoted to just these. However, some of them are really crumpled and obviously in need of a good ironing, and some look like they have been sitting in the store for a while. I didn't look at the prices of these and wouldn't know what the 'market price' is, so to speak, of them are, so I'm not sure if they are considered expensive here. Bottom line - come here for the kids' clothes, and possibly the suits. If you're looking for women's casual fashion, you should probably should give this a miss - but then again, you've come all the way to Tung Chung anyway, so might as well take a gander but don't expect that many things will catch your eye.
