Many aspiring HK singers dream to perform here, and for the rest of us, it is our entertainment outlet; our hodgepodge of memories both old and new. A household name for nearly 35 years, it seats approximately 12,500, and is located in Hung Hom (#kowloonpride). The parking situation is limited to small lots and garages here and there, so count on shooting for the MTR as it's located right behind the Hung Hom station. The facilities feel somewhat dated, even after the 2008 renovation. Visit the men's bathrooms on the lobby level and tell me that's not true. It should be noted every show or sporting event does a fairly decent job at transforming the venue. Whether you're here for the Miss Hong Kong Pageant or the FIVB World Grand Prix, or some random Chinese concert (my first was Leon Lai in 1993), a good time is a must. While seating near the center stage is great, the relatively small capacity means there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

This is basically the holy grail concert location for local artists. It was one of their ultimate goals to host a concert here before technology enables them to hack oversea markets! I have been to many concert locations in town but this is definitely the best to visit. The site is very spacious being able to host over 10 thousands audiences with quality audio-visual equipments. It is conveniently located near the MTR station. The most interesting scene is probably the combination of audiences and glowing sticks hawkers crowding around the place before concerts of popular stars:D Most importantly, every time I came here, I am expecting a great night of music experiences and the performances had never let me down! I went to the Twins 2015-2016 LOL Live in Hong Kong concert several days ago. Twins was the most popular canton pop girls duo in Hong Kong when I was small. The girls might not be the best in singing but their performance were definitely able to recall our childhood (or youth) memories! The location itself is excellent, there are no big roads around and it is actually close to the sea. There is always a little breeze and the air quality here is much better than at Aberdeen sports ground. It is spacious, the changing rooms big and clean enough. If you're driving there is a big enough parking lot.

After some research, I found out that they are different things, but part of the same complex. I have reviewed the playground previously and hadn't taken this area into account. The Southorn Stadium is in fact an indoor stadium managed by the Hong Kong Southorn Association. It can accommodate around 2,000 people, but there's room for an extra 500 seats that can be added. I wouldn't have imagined that given the size of it from outside (but then again I'm really bad with figures). As you come in, there's a big lobby at the entrance and you'll find the ticketing office on the left hand side. There are entrances on both sides of the lobby to the main arena which is 28x15 m with two led screen at both sides of it and 6 different exits. Toilets are located on both sides too. This arena is usually used for basketball games as it was originally designed - the size of the arena has the standard international basketball ground and it's got wooden flooring. However the space can be rented out by companies, associations or non for profit organizations for events of other nature (culture, music, education, sports, etc.) for as much as 10,000 per session (4 hours) and at any time during the day from 9am to 11pm. The stadium was renovated in 2013 and it looks today as modern as ever.

Just a few weeks ago, my favourite YouTube musicians had a concert in Hong Kong as a part of their Asian tour. I was so excited to buy the tickets at a reasonable price. That was the first time I've been to the MacPherson Stadium. The easiest route is to go out from Exit E2 of the Mong Kok MTR Station, then walk along the Nelson Street to the junction of the Yim Po Fong Street. It takes around 10 minutes to reach the Stadium. There is a huge poster board right next to the entrance of the stadium. Seeing the board when we arrived, we started to become hysterical and wanted to take photos of it. Yet, perhaps due to the number of people entering the arena and some safety issues, the security guards forbade us to do so. Anyway, watching the concert should be the highlight of the day! After collecting the ticket stubs, the staff members there led us to our seats. The stage faced three sides, i.e. left, central and right. The arena wasn't as large as I expected (my expectation was something like the one in the AsiaWorld-Expo, where my first concert took place...), and even though our seats were at the yellow zone which was the central-facing area behind the standing zone, the distance to the stage wasn't that long - at least I could see my favourite singers clearly at the second row of the zone! Having our seats settled, we were super hyper and waited till the show commenced! Okay I realise I'm supposed to write a review on the stadium but not the concert itself. I'll try to avoid going off-track! I can tell you - the show was fantastic! But I'd like to point out some areas that this newly-operated stadium needs to improve. One important element for a successful musical performance was the stereo set. Sometimes the background music was larger than the microphone, which somehow affected the overall quality of the performance. The lighting system also requires room for improvement. I agree that lighting helps enhance the atmosphere of the show, but light beam was so strong that I couldn't really see the stage. After all, the arrangement was nice generally. A final note: having tickets of the highest price may provide you with some privileges on top of the vicinity to the stage. A case in point is the meet-and-greet session. Though it wasn't stated on Cityline, it did happen! Unfortunately I was one of those people who missed the chance to greet my favourite musicians in person... So, if you really love the artist and the tickets are affordable, I highly recommend you do so :)

I already like to people watch, and gamble, add on horse watching? Yes PLEASE. These magnificent thoroughbreds galloping, rumbling, racing was awesome. Put a few dollars down on your horse(s) and it makes it even funner as you cheer (loudly please) on. Nestled smack dab in the middle of a huge, bustling metropolis, this club is superbly maintained, and attracts locals and expats alike. You'll meet people from all over the world here and thats what makes it the best. Betting is not simple if you can't read chinese, but just ask an employee and they can help. I attached a picture as an example. You can drop 1USD to whatever so dont be shy! There are restaurants inside, food vendors outside. I'm more an outside guy, so visiting all the vendors on the grounds while horses run was just pure joy. This night there were about 12 races. Each race itself last minutes. Then the wait in between races is maybe 30-40min each. The wait is what drops it from a 5 star to 4.5 star for me as it is way too tempting to eat more, bet more (I am sure it is planned on purpose that way, hehe). Perfect to bring your love. Perfect to bring a group of friends. Perfect for a first date. Perfect to bring the fam. Perfect for anything basically, come see Hong Kong Jockey Club as a MUST DO in your Hong Kong visit.

Cancel your Wednesday night plans and come to Happy Valley for the horse races!…read more Know nothing about horse betting? No problem. Not a gambler? No problem. You'll still have a blast! This place is a party for everyone. For the budget friendly folks, $10 hkd ($1.30 usd) will get you into the ground level Beer Garden to watch alongside a rowdy but fun crowd. Plenty of beer and food vendors to keep you giddy during the races. For a finer experience, the $590 hkd ($76 usd) buffet dinner on the upper level Terrace is fantastic for a date night or night out with friends. During my recent trip to HK, I was treated to the buffet dinner at The Terrace and damn did that meal make up for all the money I lost. All you can eat and drink (beer/wine) for 4 hours over the course of 12 races. Yeah, talk about a good time! The buffet offered an excellent array of dishes like duck sausage, ratatouille, lamb satay, prime rib, fingerling potatoes, fruit, pastries and a whole lot more. Never ending deliciousness. You will not be disappointed! The staff was beyond attentive, constantly replenishing the buffet, clearing plates, and taking/delivering drink orders. Everyone's English friendly so don't be shy and ask for tips on how to place your bets! The excitement of watching horses wiz by you is something you need to experience if you're in Hong Kong. The stunning racetrack in the middle of the hustling and bustling of Hong Kong Island will surely surprise you. Come for a good time, come for the food and drinks, come to win some cash baby!

Unless you've been living under a really large rock, you've been to Hong Kong Stadium at least once…read morein your existence, probably during Rugby Sevens season. I was assisting a sports photography outfit so I got a feel of the entire arena (I was moving back and forth all the time at the sidelines). I'm not sure if you could bring in food during the Sevens, because the food here is underwhelming and expensive. The seats are typical plastic stadium seats but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. The entire stadium can hold up to a 40,000-strong paying audience (except for corporate seats). During the first two days of the Sevens matches, the upper levels rarely get full. On the last day, however, you'd be hard-pressed to find a seat there. Getting to the stadium can be done in two ways: one, you know the directions, two, you follow anyone that wears a costume. The rowdy South Stand is where most of the revelry is, full of drunken expatriates dressed in costumes that can compete in a LKF Halloween. It also has a notorious waiting list (5 hours) so make sure you come early if you want to be there. If you feel like going to the toilet, take your pick because there are 36 scattered across the stadium. Overall, the best time to visit HK Stadium is during Rugby Sevens as the atmosphere is really, really wild yet communal. Sweet Caroline...

Limited choices I might add. Junk food heaven!!!! To get here, you can take the Causeway BAY MTR. But then from there, you have to walk another 10 - 15 minutes. Bring sun screen and a hat.
