ThIs is my opinion: Almost SIXTEEN yrs ago, TM did foot…read moresurgery. Soon afterward an infection developed. TM was insistent it was not an infection, but would repeat, it's an "allergic reaction to the fixation screen" which he said he had never seen before. I said look at it, it's got to be an infection. A doppler was ordered, even though i insisted it was not a blood clot. It was not. I was sent to a pain clinic for an ordered painful spinal injection to check for a sympathetic nerve disorder. I was told it will only work if I had RSD sympathetic nerve disorder. I insisted that's not what it was. It was not. Before that appointment TM apparently notified the pain clinic dr it was not an infection. Throughout this time, I kept saying it has to be an infection. I was repeatedly told it was not. Even though there was redness, incredible, screaming pain, much swelling (the foot was huge) and oozing from an incision. Pain meds did no good. The pain was off the charts. I could barely deal with all that constant pain and I never thought I would ever walk again. I had gotten weaker, with less snap. With an unsterile cotton swab TM swabbed the ooze for the lab. Until the nurse came in and said here let's use a sterile one (though the area was already swabbed relatively clean by then). We discussed several times, having a CRP test, but none was given. Days turned into weeks, then months passed. One follow-up appt, about 4 months after the initial surgery, a podiatrist was at the clinic and TM asked me if the podiatrist could take a look. Of course, I said yes. The podiatrist looked at the foot and seemed like he practically ran out of the room. TM came in and ordered an I&D. Complete w a wound vac, etc. Yet the oozing, redness, edema, incredible pain, etc continued. After dealing w TM for 6 horrid, painfilled months, we went to a specialist from the University of Iowa. As soon as he saw it, he knew (he confirmed what i repeatedly had said) that it was a chronic infection and ordered a couple more clean up surgeries plus a PICC line w strong antibiotics. Antibiotic allergies issues developed. More surgeries resulted. We were also told the infection had been eating away the tissues etc inside the foot. With a total of six surgeries, a day has not gone by, day after day, where i have not have pain and issues. I was told with an extended infection and multiple surgeries, painful arthritis developed. I had also been told by a source, they thought the tendon had originally been pulled too tightly. I did not have this foot pain prior to this. But going on about 16 years, i have pain and issues morning, noon, and night. It even interrupts sleep. It has affected every aspect of my (our) lives. It's going on SIXTEEN years of constant pain and issues. Also, since that time, my foot has been overpronated outward, making the inner ankle receive the impact of every step. 16 years ago, i asked TM about the outward swing of my foot often, because I was worried and concerned it would now always be overpronated and swing awkwardly outward. I received no real answer. Yes, it is still overpronated and still has an outward swing, causing many issues and constant pain. Our lives have been greatly impacted by all of this. In the years past, i had asked other Drs about a surgery to help fix it, but was told it's too messed up and they didn't want to touch it, for fear of opening up a " Pandora's Box". In summary, I would never, ever recommend TM.

PJ/Pam was very supportive and assisted by providing a schedule for me to choose appointments as I travelled from San Francisco to seek Dr. Mally's expertise for 3 days of treatment. I came into their Tri-Med office with a headache, back pain and slight limp to compromise for my foot pain. After a full exam and x-rays Dr. Mitch explained my jaw has been out of alignment which contributed to chronic migraines. He also showed me 3 compression fractures of my mid back thoracic area in my x-rays. He felt where my foot was hurting. He then strategically realigned my body from head to toe! When he worked on my jaw and my jaw starting getting into proper position, I was overcome with appreciation. The pain in my head finally began to fade. My jaw was moving much smoother without clicking and popping in my ears. I was advised to eat soft food and not chew too much. He checked my neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, back, hips, legs and finally my feet. When Dr. Mitch realigned my cuboid bone I was able to walk balanced again versus avoiding the painful foot. He also aligned my fingers and toes. I've been suffering with migraines almost daily for about 2 years. I'm grateful to report since returning home to California from Iowa only 1 headache this past week. I'm starting to feel more like my happy self again. I'm a national and world champion in ice skating, roller skating and salsa dancing. I look forward to getting back into my sports again with more confidence and greater balance after being in Dr. Mally's care and his fantastic staff.

The surgery went fine, however after the surgery I…read morewas in awful pain I went to the express care so that all of my records were within Unity point, I was told that they couldn't prescribe me anything stronger than the vicodin that I had been given after the surgery. That doctor prescribed me lidocaine patches it helped mildly. The next day the pain was unbearable so I went to the Unity Point ER in Bettendorf the ER doctor was nice and helped me with my pain. He told me that he had called the surgeon who was on call to have her come and look at my incisions. Upon Dr Hass arrival she was extremely rude. She had the audacity to say to me and I quote "I don't know who you conned into giving you percoset, but that is not a med that we prescribed for this type of surgery." I could not believe that I was being treated in such a manner. I explained to her that I had NOT conned anyone out of anything, I was in a serious automobile accident in December that resulted in a laceration to my spleen. I had some left over from that. ( Keep in mind that the whole reason why I was using Unity point was so that all of my medical records from the car accident were all in one place in one system) Had she taken a few minutes to review my chart she would have seen that the Nurse Practitioner from her office was the one who had written the prescription for the oxycodone in the first place. My sister is a registered nurse and she worked for Genesis for years before she moved out of state she explained to me that Nurse Practitioners must had a doctor sign off on class 2 narcotics. So after I explained to her that the oxycodone that I had taken was what I had left over from December, she told me that she was going to admit me so that we could get my pain under control. She told me that she was ordering me dilaudid this was around 2pm on 2/19/22. I was sitting in the ER in pain and was told that they couldn't give me anything until the admitting doctor ordered it. I finally made it upstairs around 5pm. I again asked for pain meds because by this time I was in excruciating pain. I was again told that nothing had been order yet. I called for my nurse a couple more times asking about the status of my medication order. Around 7:30 pm I was finally given my pain meds but I still had not been given something to help with gas like I had asked for around 2pm. The next day she Decided to reduce the dilaudid, I had a bowel movement which put me in excruciating pain I asked for more pain meds and was told that I couldn't have oxycodone for another hour. I asked if I could have dilaudid and was told that they had to get the okay from Dr Hass, I sat in pain for the next hour before being given oxycodone. The Oxycodone didn't even touch the pain from having a bowel movement. After waiting hours for the okay from Dr Hass I was finally given a dose of dilaudid at 7pm. Her bedside manor is the worst that I have ever seen. I will be filing a complaint with the Iowa Board of Medicine as I was told by another health care professional that complaining to the hospital would do no good because surgeon's bring a lot of $ in for the hospital. I know that my complaint alone won't result in disciplinary action however if she has ever made anyone feel as belittled as she made me feel they will open an investigation if similar complaints are received later on.
