Well, I have to say I was very disappointed when I went in today. This is NOT a full-service alteration shop. I don't mind that they're only open Monday through Thursday. I can make that fit in my schedule, but as soon as I walked in the door with three brand new suits that I ordered from New York, California and New Orleans....I was told she no longer alters the length of sleeves on jackets or sport coats. I was told she no longer alters the sides of sports coats, like tapering in the waist, etc.. and I was told that the only thing she could really help me with would be the hem length of the pants. Well, the largest disappointment was that she suggested that I go to a hooterite or someone else who has time for those kinds of things. So people, unless you just simply need pants hemmed, don't walk through the door. I don't know it just didn't make any sense that an alteration shop would send the guy outside the door and pass up on probably $200 of work????? I know it's not the only alteration shop in town but I wasted my time walking to the door. I'll find another place and I'll get the suits ready to go for my summer trips, but I absolutely don't recommend using this place. When I visit my mom in Houston Texas, there are hundreds of alteration shops. I guess next time I should have my suit shipped to my mom's place and then just get them altered there in short order. read more

Vangie does great work but isn't super friendly, which is fine. Prices are more than fair. Would use again.

i had alterations done over the years to perfection, shortening "tall" pants i had to buy because "regular" 32" was too short, but tall "34" was too tall, maybe about 20 pairs and lab coats, shortening long sleeves to short sleeves. i was never in any hurry, and just appreciated so much how perfect the alterations were and how reasonably priced they were at $10 per repair. i see other reviews and it makes me sad, so wanted to put this out there, as i am sad to see she is retiring. i haven't been working the past 3 years, so hadn't needed her services lately. she was always wonderful and patient to work with and the finished products enhanced my professional image, as far as perfectly tailored pants can do working on my feet in my $300 shoes 30-40 hours a week in a busy retail environment. Comment posted on Yelp from a Bridesmaid complaining Aug 29, 2018 about length of dress... Vangie apologizes for not getting it done in a timely manner from what was promised (Alteration Tailors are a dying breed...26 alteration shops 33 years ago and in 2018 there are only 6...and Billings has grown a lot!). Not all of these 6 alteration shops will agree to do wedding alterations and definitely not all 6 are QUALIFIED to alternate wedding attire! Vangie agrees to do some wedding alterations, runs out of time and is doing the the best she can but she gets overwhelmed with the wedding alterations requests. Vangie goes over and above and makes sure that alterations are done before an event....sometimes behind schedule (she apologizes) but she will work after hours and on weekends to make good her promise that your garment will fit "on the day". Will the person that posted the Yelp Review that complained about the August 29th Bridesmaid dress length please call Vangie between her operating hours of 9-5 Mountain Standard Time at 1-406-652-6556? Vangie's was the first tailor I went to, just having moved to Billings and not being able to find current reviews anywhere...I took a chance and went in blind. Vangie did such great work! I needed the sleeves altered on my vintage crochet wedding dress and knew it would be a tricky job. "Oh I used to crochet", she said and I couldnt believe my luck. Both sleeves were removed, shortened in length and width, and reattached for a great price. The turnaround time was very reasonable and I felt so comfortable knowing that this lady knew her stuff. My dress was in excellent hands and I strongly recommend. No debit or credit cards accepted though, cash or check only so come back to pick up your stuff prepared! read more

I sent my bridesmaids dress to Vangie for one simple alteration request: the dress was too long and needed taken up a few inches on the bottom. I brought the dress in several months early and she said she would definitely have it done early. 2 weeks before the wedding, I called and her mailbox was full. It turns it, it is always full. I finally got ahold of her and she said she would get it done that week. I continued to call a couple times up until that final week, where I called 2 days before the event. She said she would start on it and have it done by the end of the day. Needless to say, I spent $40 and when I tried the dress on, it didn't seem to be altered at all. I had to have a friend pin and hand sew the dress so I could walk down the isle without tripping on the dress. The bride had taken her rehearsal dinner dress there and the exact same thing had happened to her: we had to pay for alterations that she didn't actually do. I called and asked for a guesstimate to re-hem 9 polyester jersey dresses. No alterations, just sewing the hems (also of note they were all the same color). I was quoted between $5 and $10 each. When I was called to pick them up I was told my bill was $135. When I questioned that figure I was told that 'at $15 each, it adds up pretty quick'. Hmmmm, if I had been told up front they would be $15 each I would have called other places. read more

I went there on a recommendation. I needed a zipper put in an older leather coat that meant a lot to me and the liner fixed do to wear. Both were done and the old coat now zips and wears like new. They did a great job. They told me 3 weeks but it took 5 weeks. They are a small shop and were very busy. I don't mind waiting a it if the quality is good and it was. read more

Worst alteration shop i have ever been to. Lady butchered a pair of 80 dollar pants and refused to fix them. do not use this shop

Moved back to Billings after 22 years and needed a good alterations place. Read the only review I could find and it was good for Vangie's so I decided to give it a try. I had a beautiful coat that I couldn't get the buttons to stay on, even after having them attached at another alteration place in another city a month earlier. She matched the colors perfectly, and the buttons haven't come off even though it has now been months since I took the coat in! read more
