I showed the stylist a beautiful picture of the direction I wanted to go (Felicia Day's pixie) and shared some very specific concerns I had. She ignored everything I asked her to do and even dismissed me when I tried to redirect her a few times. I essentially asked for a clean up on my pixie and the lady went whole hog and hacked off pretty much all my hair. I grew my hair out after chemo and this place took MONTHS of growth, all because the stylist thought and said "well if it were just a trim it wouldn't have been worth MY time." Really? Not worth YOUR time? Why oh why did I NOT follow my instincts??? Rather than getting a sweet Felicia pixie I ended up with Boys Don't Cry. Fab. By the time I realized what was happening there was nothing I could do except let her finish. I was very polite and tipped extremely well. I couldn't even look in the mirror until the following day when I got home. This cut is so bad I don't even want to leave my house. I am near tears. I should have trusted my instincts. I hope at least I can steer others away from this horrible, horrible place. :( Or at least leave you with the message: ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS!!! If you get any kind of weird vibe when you walk into a place LEAVE.

I have thick textlaxed hair that I take care of myself and have managed to grow longer than its ever been by myself how ever ive been searching for a salon i can go to for touch ups and blowouts. I find that everytime I go to stylists they end up never telling me what they are doing to my hair and are too rough and don't try taking their time to detangle it. My time here was no different. My stylist was very rude, didn't really acknowledge me and also didn't tell me what he was doing step by step as I would get at a professional salon. He racked through my hair with a cheap paddle brush and did not even try to go in small sections and try to help me lose an less hair as possible. I got the vibe that he had no time to care about taking care of my hair and wanted to get me out of the chair as soon as possible. I paid for a $40 Groupon to try out this place to see if I could find a salon in the city worth making the trip from RI for on a monthly basis. My stylist also lacked professionalism and went on about what issues I had with my hair in a rude and condescending manner. Now to top it off I had agreed to a trim and ended up with a cut that will take at least a yr to grow back. I was told this would be an extra $10 and ended up paying $15 which isn't a huge difference but I would prefer some integrity when stating prices. Overall if u have thick hair or actually care about growing ur hair long and strong ...go to brooklyn and find a respectable stylist that will give u proper advice and who is up to date on how to properly care for black hair. If you are getting color ...the other stylists didn't seem as bad as mine so u may have luck here.

They also provide a very friendly atmosphere. Alex provides great conversation, they provide complimentary water, and they are just all around a great person. I plan to continue going to them for my hair, and I advise that anyone else struggling to find a stylist in New York to heavily consider Alex.

The was a phone number on the link, and I sent a teaxt. She said her name was Kyra and that she was the owner. This is the correspondence between me and her: Me: Hi my name Nash and I have alopecia so I am completely bald. I am inquiring about your curly wigs. What are the price and do you install? I have felt insecure for a long time and have a small head so its not easy feeling confident going to wig shops. *Salon Owner: (Hi hun, we are a very small store and we are a non judgmental family! We charge 75 for install the wig is 280) Salon Owner: Anyways we will love for you to come in and we will love to fit you into one of our babies i'm tearing up. I would love to come in! You can start immediately! You will love the vibe over here. Aaaaw wish u came today lol And ironically you text me and I'm here today (the owner) Let's jus say that you are in good hands and I got your back And your hair lol I sent her the picture in my profile, and proceeded to tell her what I was looking for. She showed empathy towards my situation and offered to help. Being that I''ve had negative experiences in the past, I wanted to know in advance how much the service was. I felt it was a good price and went to see her the next day. Visit: When I got there she was on her phone, and the stylist was just finishing up with someone's hair. She did not tell the stylist about my situation so the stylist thought I was just there to buy a wig. I was there to receive the full experiences that she has explained to me via text but the visit was far from it. Though the wig was beautiful and the stylist was nice, the way the owner treated me in the end was rude and crass. I paid for the service and left. She then texted me the receipt and I was shocked to see how much she charged me. Me: Hey can walk me through the total amount. *I went back to what she said in the text(We charge 75 for install the wig is 280) So I asked her why was did she charge me $420.20?! Salon Owner: Hi sorry I didn't 280+ she charged 80 (360) + taxes! ( She said that the stylist charged me $80 for the install instead of $75. The stylist didn't even know what was going on or even what was discussed in the text so literally she felt I was complaining about the $5.20 which she said i was charged because the stylist wet my hair) I told her I was coming back and she said: Salon Owner: I'm already gone! She Refunded me $40.00 I ended up paying: $280 for wig $75 installment plus $25.20 tax (which I thought was too high especially for a wig that she did not make herself, and she said that with her own mouth) Her last words to me was: Like I said! Refunded THE OWNER IS NOT A WOMAN OF INTEGRITY!!!! SHE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF MY VULNERABLE SITUATION JUST TO MAKE A BUCK, AND OVER CHARGED ME FOR THE SERVICE. SHE DID NOT HONOR WHAT SHE WROTE IN THE TEXT, WHICH IS WHAT i THOUGHT I WOULD PAY. SHE DIDN'T EVEN COME BACK TO RECTIFY THE SITUAITON BUT DIPPED OUT AS SOON AS SHE GOT PAID. INSTEAD OF CHARGING ME: $280 FOR THE WIG SHE CHARGED ME $315 INSTEAD OF CHARGING ME $75 FOR THE INSTALL SHE CHARGED ME $80 AND $25.20 FOR TAX I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS SALON OWNER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!
