We went to the waterfront to find a spot for dinner and were very impressed by the beauty. The waterfront is...on the the water! Hence the name. Situated on the banks of the majestic Columbia River. The entire area is walkable with tons of restaurants. There is a wide walking path along the river. At one point there is a water feature for kids to play. Lots of seating just to hang out and chill. There seems to be a lively real estate development going on that overlooks the river. Prime real estate. This area is 100% enjoyable, especially when the weather is perfect. Not far from the waterfront is a large open air farmer's market. That might be a separate review. Anyway, the downtown area is compact but totally walkable. We will return. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's such an awesome addition to Vancouver! There's something for everyone down here. It's a great place to walk/jog. There's a play structure for kids, water splash area, and plenty of restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating options. They have placed plenty of seating options for people just perusing the waterfront and enjoying the views. There are many restaurant options, from seafood to pasta to pizza to burgers to taprooms to wineries to milkshakes. Enough options to please everyone. The prices are a little high at some restaurants because of the gorgeous views. Definitely read reviews to find the best options. There is street and lot parking available. Parking is $2/hr. On a recent visit with friends, we were all very impressed with the continuing development along the Columbia River. There are many great restaurants here and lots of features to explore. It was a warm night when we were there so we saw tons of people, families and children having a great time. Some playing in the water feature, others relaxing on the grassy areas between the walkways. The Vancouver Waterfront is fantastic! If only Portland would take notice and realize that they could do the same. When you contrast the two waterfronts, there is no comparison. Vancouver is leaps and bounds better - clean, no tents and homeless and drugs. Just a wide, clean, well lit path along the water with clean restrooms, green space, and lots of restaurants, tasting rooms and cocktail lounges to enjoy. Many condos, parks and trails Also line this area. Having lived in Portland for 22 years, I've seen the massive decline that lack of leadership creates. I had never really spent time in Vancouver, only going there to visit friends who moved there 7 years ago when Portland first started to decline. I teased them about living in "Vantucky" and how there was nothing worth visiting in Vancouver other than them. Flash forward 7 years and I'm eating my words. When friends and I want a nice meal with a gorgeous view, in a place where we feel safe parking and walking and don't want to be surrounded by tents, filth and graffiti, we head to Vancouver. Which means, I frequent those restaurants more than the ones in Portland these days. Parking is cheapest on the street where you only have to pay the meter until 6pm, use the Parking Kitty app for convenience. If no street parking, use the lots where you have to pay for all hours and they ticket if you are even five minutes late. So don't try to beat paying the parking or you will pay far more in a ticket. The Vancouver Waterfront is an example of what can be accomplished And how to create usability of prime real estate for all to enjoy. This area has contributed to the city's growth, jobs, tourism and is a gateway to Vancouver and the rest of Washington. read more

The waterfront and pier area is a great spot for a short walk, dining, and hanging out. The views, especially at night, are simply amazing. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore, and the area is very clean and modern. The paved roads make for an easy stroll, and there are some great wineries nearby to enjoy as well. read more

On the north bank of the Columbia River, is Vancouver's waterfront development that brings the downtown to the river's edge. The focal point of this area is the cable-stayed pier and magnificent water feature. The park incorporates areas for picnics, biking, riverfront access, walking trails, a water feature and an expansive greenspace. Its scattered with beautiful restaurants and apartments and provides a very modern yet scenic appeal . To say I absolutely love seeing the sunsets here would be an understatement . No matter what time of the day , the waterfront is always lively -there is live music , kids playing , lots of people hanging out in the area , I have even seen a proposal or two on the pier. It is open to the public from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m and there are no fees. There is a huge parking lot right across the street and also metered street parking. read more

As a (former) lifelong resident of Vancouver, I was pretty skeptical of the waterfront project when they first announced it. Before I knew it, buildings began to spring up and to life all down the renovated strip of riverfront real estate, and I had to check it out. Downtown Vancouver had been struggling for decades, and several prominent local businesses and enterprises (The Holland restaurant, Lucky Brewery, etc) had faded away into memory, and urban decay had begun to set in. The area around Esther Short gentrified, but it seemed as if that momentum was lost, since nothing else of significance had happened for quite some time. Then the Waterfront project happened, and for once, there's hope of true transformation to modernity in Vancouver, and that is a welcome change! There are some truly fabulous restaurants, wine tasting rooms, parks, walks and trails here. I've reviewed several individually, so I won't expand on them here, but as a communal and commercial space as a whole, the Vancouver Waterfront is exactly what this town needed. Modernity. Relevancy. Sophistication. Fun. Worth a visit just to see what's new, what's going on, and what's yet to come, as things continue to grow and expand. The gateway to Washington State on the I-5 corridor (and one of the few border crossings of significance in the state) has needed this for quite some time. I completely love this place and all the people walking around being that I moved here a while back and have been dissapointed by Portland and Vancouvers population not going out as much to the point you see big group of people at different areas but thank you to this place. This are makes me feel like people do exist and are out and about walking around and enjoying the outdoors. There is plenty of walking available in this area you can walk from the restaurants and bars to the condos at the other end that can give you a good amount of miles. #positivegoodlife read more

They way that this waterfront is nice. The first sunny weekend this year we checked out out. Many many people were out and about with kids, groups etc... It was nice to see people get outside. This review is solely as a critique and a warning to those who may want to visit this area and need to park their car in order to do so. Please be careful when using the parking lots operated by Northwest Parking Control which is a very greedy and clearly oppotrunistic company. These are the numbered lots to the North of the street and immediately adjacent to where Twigs and the other restaurants are. If your amount of time expires, you will be cited by this private company, not the city of vancouver. Just beware that it's worth putting a little extra onto your parking ticket if you have no choice but to park in these lots. You will get a notice from them as they have people roaming all over the lots that they operate looking for expired tickets. If you pay, let's say for example, 2.50 to park for 2 hours and run even 5 minutes late, their little ticket man will issue you a citation and it will cost you an extra 23.00. So, today to park and have lunch and contribute to the local economy, it cost me 25.50 to park for 3 hours. I know my ticket expired but it was not deliberate and an expired ticket should cost less than not paying at all IMO. I am not really sure about the honesty of the process as we saw little ticket man today roaming from car to car writing ticket after ticket. Just be forewarned, my guess is that this company was probably chosen because they run the whole operation and likely get to keep a portion of what they levy so they have an incentive to levy fines. If you can, park elsewhere and avoid these people as they will get you and I certainly will avoid the waterfront lots and park on the street using the spaces run by the city not these clowns as this is clearly one negative about what is a mostly positive feature of Vancouver. I live in Vancouver and it's amazing how much there is to do on the Waterfront. Breweries, restauraunts, parks, (soon) a new market, and the scenery! You could take pictures on the pier facing the waterfront and they will all look good. But it may be difficult to find parking which is why my family always goes to the waterfront when the farmers market is going. It's a great place to go to to hang out with friends or just walk around. The good news is that right now there aren't many homeless people, (unlike Portland.) read more

Really nice to walk around! The place is friendly and you see many couples and families in walking about. They even have a kids play area towards the end with some climbing toys and sand. There is also a lot of light in the area so going at night feels safe too. read more
