I happened to have received a discount pass through BC Hydro EV program. The event was really good and got to see some interesting vehicles.

Dream to putting a foot in trades in BC

I took part in this "You're Hired" trades Dream event and went home with more than one could dream. There were a lot of information (Millwright, mechanics, Royal Air Force, Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee JATC, Nunavut Institute etc) and friendly tradespeople to talk to. While they were not exactly hiring anyone on the spot, they gave useful information for networking, future events, new emerging field to join and how to apply for certain trades. There were private schools information for people looking for apprenticeships level 1 and foundation courses too. I happily collected several pens for future use. It never hurt to get some freebies. The hall was spacious and airy. Students and adults from all walks of life came to look for opportunities and to contribute their skills to the Metro Vancouver community. It was an amazing experience.

Been here many times and since the day it was built till today, it looks like it has been very well kept. The place is still in prestige condition (inside and outside). There are many rooms and the Convention Center is two floors. Many big events have been held here. Including big graduation ceremony to corporate events. I even had professional development events here. It is also located in a very central location and easy to get to by Skytrain. Only draw back is that parking in the area is very expensive.

So many thing to see around here. Spent at least 45 minutes walking around the area. What a pleasant surprise! Don't miss this either. There are many bars and food courts and shops.

Very nice convention centre downtown...during the day can walk inside and downstairs there is artwork along with momentos from the Vancouver 2018 Olympics..including the medal podium...you can pose and take pictures... For other artwork, no climbing or touching...very cool to see. A good view of the outside as well. On a hot day, good way to cool off a bit before heading back out. The convention centre is well maintained as very nice to see the world globe in the day and at night...gives one different perspectives.

We came here for the Vancouver Showcase - an NCAA (collegiate) women's basketball tournament. Having never been here, we weren't sure what to expect (especially since it's not a sports venue) and were surprised that they were able install a basketball court and bleachers in the exhibition area. There was an additional area set up for food and drink vendors (including free Tim Horton's coffee and hot chocolate), a basketball net and half court to play on, a mini basketball shooting game, a giant inflatable basketball, tables for eating and chatting, etc. Convention center was very clean and well maintained (including the bathrooms). Staff was very friendly and courteous. Great location - within walking distance from restaurants and hotels in the downtown area. Great facility!

The Ultimate Sneaker Show convention came to town on this beautiful Saturday. It was a hectic day with cruiseships in Port & Kevin Hart at Rodgers Arena & the BC Lions at BC Place! Like I said lots going on today! So I generally use eBay for my sneaker purchases as I can find my specific tastes quickly & at the right price! The Vancouver Convention Centre is spacious & located right in the heart & bustle of the waterfront. It's a perfect spot with ease of accessibility & plenty of shops & restaurants in the surrounding area. I wanted to attend this sneaker show more out of curiosity & maybe just maybe buy that $1000 pair of shoes!!! Right - LOL. One could even bring their own shoes from their private collection & sell them here - I saw plenty of hundred dollar bills exchanging hands for sneakers! A DJ played tunes, various clothing lines were available on sale - A Bathing Ape, Supreme, Off White, Gucci tops etc. All the latest sneakers on the market were on display & for sale. Yeezy, Travis Scott, Nike VaporMax, Jordans, Air Max etc. All types of Sneaker Heads young & old, were in attendance checking out & buying up the latest shoes. Mark this event in your calender for next year if you're young hip & happening - of rather just have a love for sneakers! #theultimatesneakershow #soleexchange #sneakerhead

Lovely space and friendly staff. The restrooms are clean and there's one at the entrance, one closer to the exhibition area (inside), and one by the exit. Spacious and high ceiling so great for anime convention, lgbtq+ events, art exhibitions, and product showing convention. Parking lot below and other parking lots around the area. Walkable to bus stops and skytrain station.

Don't use the Impark West parking lot. They are crooks and their customer service is awful. Park at Indigo if you need a parking garage.

I really like this. Came here for the annual 12X12 exhibit. This is a photgraphy competition, friendly of course, but there are catches., with a new catch for this year's 2012 competition. http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/salt-building-vancouver?select=L_6w9BcDkIY4mFJkwd59SQ#Tauo1LC-G8fbqfxbek4lVA Each competitor must: 1. Take 1 photograph of a theme announced once, every hour on the hour 2. Intepret the announced theme in a single shot 3. 12 shots in total meaning you're on the hunt to interpret a theme each hour for 12 hours. 4. The photograph is on film. Not digital. 5. This year's catch is.... black and white film only. I've come out to this exhibit every year since it's inception. They had it at another venue in previous years, but it was horribly crowded and stuffy. This was a welcomed change, much welcomed. Maybe next year I'll do it. I'll have to dust off one of my film cameras.

Seeing, and more importantly,…read morebeing able to enjoy spaces like this are rare, especially in cities like ours where there seems to be an overwhelming need to make everything shiny and new. (yes there are foundations in place to protect our heritage buildings, but I'm making sweeping generalizations here) When the Salt Building was first being revitalized during the pre-Olympic building-frenzy era, there was talk of the space being used as a pub or high-end restaurant or some other variation on that theme. Though it may have been entirely acceptable -- and maybe even great -- if that were the case today (and who knows, it may very well be the case in the future), but it almost seems as though that would be a bastardization of this minimal bare-bones structure. The building is gorgeous. Bookended with mammoth-sized windows, allowing plenty of light to pour in throughout the almost 14,000sq foot space, exposing the elaborate timber trusses and metal hardware, and shining of the polished concrete floor, there is not one thing I'd change here. It would be a shame to cover any of it up. A perfect event location, an ideal gathering space, an overwhelmingly stunning surprise in an area that is known for making everything "pretty," the Salt Building is, at this moment, a perfect homage to its historic past.

My kid had her high school prom here, and there are often various community events held here, as well as private parties, receptions and weddings. Today I finally got the chance to visit the building, though, as there was a weekend-long artisan fair held here. What a lovely venue! Outside, by the entrance, there is a plaque on the facade declaring this building as a "Heritage Building" (designated as such in 1974). The actual building was built in 1915 and was first used as a post office. For those who care about architectural and design styles, the building is classified as being done in the Beaux Arts Classicism style, with a lot of ornamentation on the sculptured columns and facade's stone. There are many sculpted faces and sandstone festoons visible on the first and second story exterior. Inside, the first floor used to be a grand ballroom, and it was recently re-done (in 2015), so now there is a terrazzo floor, and where once was a huge trompe l'oeil mural is now a blank wall (bummer). There still are beautiful chandeliers and an ethereal ceiling that's reminiscent of calming green-blue sea glass. Today at the artisan fair, there were tables lined up and creating aisles in the ballroom, so the room looked somewhat small. I'd imagine the venue appearing much larger and spatially impressive without all the tables. I was impressed by this building. It was lovely inside and out. The location on Main Street is awesome, too, with tons of parking on Main and the side streets, and so many fun shops, coffee houses and restaurants nearby.

It's inside a building, but signage outside is small and not very clear, so it took a bit of wandering before I even found the line. I actually even passed the building up while walking. I needed to use the restroom before going up and saw signage for the one near the food court. Honestly, it was absolutely disgusting and didn't have paper towels. I ended up walking completely out. When I asked the lookout staff about a restroom, I was initially told there wasn't one. Then once they asked if I was intending on buying a ticket, it suddenly appeared that there all of a sudden was a restroom available upstairs. Hmmm but at any rate, it was a completely different experience from the first restroom. Thank goodness. The lookout itself feels dated. You do get a full bird's-eye view of the city, but there wasn't anything especially exciting or memorable about it. They also charged more than what was posted on the signage, so it looks like a recent price increase, $24 CAD mid June. Overall, if you go in with low expectations and just want a quick view of the city, it's fine. But I wouldn't call it a must-do in Vancouver.

Inside there are lots of old remains of ironworks bringing you industrial steampunk realness, and separate rooms to mingle and drink. Well, at this event there was a beer and wine selection so drink we did! A small glass of red went for $5 which is pretty decent, and they had a table of Geek Sweet Cupcakes for sale as well. YUM! The fashion show was fierce and they had some bands in between which were so-so. What I liked about this space was that there was space for a live band to play with a small stage, and there was also space for a runway (I'm not sure if that was brought in from somewhere else or something the venue rents) but it was pretty cool to have both, plus a separate room with a small bar set up, and a backstage area. What I'm sayin' is that this room is pretty diverse, and there's a lot you can do with it and I like that.
