Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb with Waffle Bowl
Grace L.

Heard great things about Van Leeuwen, so I was excited to see they opened a spot near my school! Upon entering, the space was clean and cute! There were two groups ahead of me with only one employee working, and because the first group was still trying out samples, I did wait several minutes. However, the cashier took my order while the 2nd group in front of me was trying out samples, so I appreciated her efficiency. As for my order, I got 1 scoop of the Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb with a Waffle Bowl. If you're a UCLA student and show them your ID, you get a 15% off your order, so that was neat! My total came out to $8.24 (discount included), which I do think is still pricey for one scoop of ice cream + a waffle bowl. However, I thought the taste would make up for it. Unfortunately, I found the ice cream way too sweet, and I have a sweet tooth! I definitely did taste the peanut butter and brownie, but I didn't taste any chunks of honeycomb at all. Additionally, my waffle bowl was very stale. I did see all the waffle cones + bowls sitting on the counter, so mine must've sat for a while. I wish the waffles were made to order, so that they are fresh to prevent the staleness. I would be willing to wait even more! Overall, I was disappointed with my experience as I expected very tasty, high-quality ice cream. Instead, I thought it just tasted okay, and the quality didn't justify the price. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they just newly opened, so I hope they are able to continue improving. I would be willing to visit again in case I just had an off visit, but probably not soon.

Hot Fudge Sundae

What a great addition to Westwood. Westwood has severely lacked great sweet treat options, so this location is very welcomed and overdue. The opening of this location somehow flew under the radar. I'd noticed it would pop up on Yelp and other local searches, but they all had few reviews and made it seem like it was an old location, or coming soon, not already open. Located next to tacos 1986 in the same stunning brick building, this Van Leeuwen location is quite central and easily accessible on foot (but parking in the area is very tough). It's a little bit of a smaller store without much seating (I believe there might be a couple seat/tables outside), but the staff are friendly and the service is prompt. I sampled a couple different ice creams and went with a hot fudge sundae which was exactly what I was craving (and seemingly cannot be found in Westwood outside of Diddy Riese, but theirs doesn't scratch the same itch). I'll definitely be back!

HEALTHY, NUTRITIOUS AND PRICEY…read more If I had a trust fund, I would kick start my day with a Yogi every morning. Thanks to a promo for the hilarious Netflix series, Beef, I was blown away by the mango, blue spirulina, SunLife Apex Superfood powder, Sunlife Ceremonial Matcha powder, SunLife Hydration & Beauty powder, GLP-1 Fiber Boost, lemon, spinach, pineapple juice, Blood Orange Drizzle ( Blood orange, goji berry, mango) smoothie. This colorful drink kept me satiated for most of the day! Plus, I felt energetic. Employees were friendly and on point despite the crowd. What a treat! You light up my life!

They have real superfoods and nutritious smoothies that will satiate and boost your wellbeing. The service was prompt and nice. While my smoothie was being made, I walked around the store to check out their items for sale. In addition to serving fresh smoothies and bowls, they also have a variety of supplements and other wellness items. I tried the Wolverine Smoothie and was really impressed by how delicious and filling it was. It was smooth, velvety and satiating. The prices here are high, but based on the quality of what you are getting, it tracks. Overall, SunLife Organics is legit on the wellness tip. I'd definitely try them again next time I visit Century City.

Starting off a BREW-tiful day at @moclosangeles…read more As a previous @ucla undergrad and current PhD student, Ministry of Coffee has been one of my favorite coffee shops in @westwoodvillage for many years. This hidden gem, hugely underrated Australian cafe features a menu with some of the BEST hot coffees I've had (with my recommendation being their Salted Mocha Latte), as well as delicious, wholesome breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes such as their lox bagel, egg sandwich (featured here), and avocado toast. Prices are a bit on the higher side for a student budget, but it's definitely well warranted for the quality of their drinks and food, and large portions. I also love how they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options, making it perfect to study, chat with friends, or grab a bite to eat on a lunch break. This spot can definitely get busy especially with so many college students milling around, but I've never had issues finding a spot to sit even during busy midterm and finals season. So glad to see that they've expanded to so many locations in LA, and highly recommend checking them out for an incredible cup of coffee to start your day!

Update September 2026…read more I had a Cappuccino here after eating a hearty early dinner at Boiling Crab down the street. I added an extra espresso shot to celebrate National Coffee Day. It was delicious. Service was on point and fast. I sat and savored some sips at the convenient outdoor seating, then was on my way bicycling to Bevery Hills.
