A couple walked in shortly after, and a salesperson immediately approached them while completely bypassing me. This was almost identical to my previous visit, where I was only asked if I needed help as I was walking out the door. I don't expect constant attention, but a luxury-focused store should at least offer consistent, basic customer service to all customers. It's hard not to feel like assumptions were being made about who was worth assisting. I'm sharing this so management is aware, because every customer deserves to feel welcome--not overlooked.

When it comes to Polo Ralph Lauren brand shirts, it's hard to beat the Polo outlets because the shirts are sold at a nice discount compared to the retail stores. For example, you can get a single short-sleeve or long-sleeve Polo shirt at the outlets for $40-50. If you go to certain department stores or a retail Ralph Lauren store (e.g. inside Lenox Square), the same shirt can go for $85-90+. As far as quality goes, I haven't been able to tell a difference between the outlet version and the retail version. Years ago (more than a decade), there was a difference. The tags inside the collars on certain shirts at the outlets would be stamped with a gold circle to signify imperfections in the shirt, whether it was in the quality of the material, sizing, cut, etc. I don't think that's been the case now for a very long time. At least not at the Polo outlets I've been shopping at. The quality of the shirts is very good and they last for years. If you sign up for Polo Ralph Lauren's email and snail mail mailing lists, you'll receive useful discounts periodically. Taking advantage of these discounts is usually what pushes me to go to the outlet and I'll stock up on several shirts at a time. You can count on discounts around national holidays such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving. To avoid the rush, try going to the store as soon as it opens at 9 or 10 in the morning. As far as shirt selection goes, it's decent. This store has shirts in both interlock and mesh material. The interlock shirts are nicer because they are smoother and softer. The mesh shirts are still nice, but better for casual wear. I like to wear these shirts to work and casually when I go out. I do not like to wear these shirts when I play golf. The best shirts to play golf in are the athletic golf shirts (e.g. Nike, Under Armour, Adidas) sold at pro shops and sporting goods stores. They do a better job of moisture control and keeping you cool. The solid color selection is basic, but OK. The pattern selection (stripes) is usually quite limited, but there can be a good find every now and then. As far as fit goes, I only go for the Classic-Fit which they carry. I'm not sure if they carry the other fits such as Custom-Fit and Slim-Fit, both of which are more tailored and form-fitting cuts. I'm also a fan of Polo Ralph Lauren sweaters though I don't think I've purchased any at this particular store. Just in case, try on every piece and do a quick visual quality check before you buy.
