Upon meeting the owner, I was impressed with what he had to offer for painting the exterior of our house and refinishing our front door (you don't buy a new suit and not get new shoes). The estimate he provided was fair, and included the "front door." Due to his schedule, we were offered a selection of two weeks; we chose the first available week. The night before he was supposed to start the job, he said he had to push the job a week. I understood things get busy and rearranged schedules to accommodate. When they arrived to start, a sign was placed in front of my house, which I agreed to at leave up for a few days as a courtesy, now providing FREE advertising for the company. When the job was completed, only the exterior of the front door was refinished, although the estimate stated "front door." After arguing over semantics and having my intelligence and character called into question, the other half of the door was reluctantly refinished. As a nice touch the owner decided not to remove the door and do all the power sanding inside my house, blanketing my entire front room in a layer of sawdust. I truly appreciate the work that was done and look forward collecting the dust from my front room for the next couple of weeks. read more

**Complete lack of professionalism and common courtesy** We hired Greg Riggen and Van Gogh Pros., Inc. in mid-September 2019 to paint our house. Prior to engaging Van Gogh, Greg came to our home twice, and met with my wife and me. He showed us specific shortcomings with the previous paint job and also showed us specific gaps in the exterior that needed to be sealed. With change orders, we paid nearly $20,000 for the job. The work that we hired Van Gogh to do was comprehensive. It included all prep and exterior paint of our house and detached garage. The itemization of work goes for about three pages and included (in addition to prep and paint): * Professional preparation, including wood spot repair and sealing. * Window frames, including scraping, sanding, caulking and painting. * Treating walkways, including power wash, prep and sealing with polyurethane concrete sealer * Painting porch, including removal of loose paint, spot priming, and caulking edges and gaps. According to the contract, "All work completed is backed by industry leading 3yr warranty." Van Gogh began the project in early-October and was completed in early-November. At first glance, everything seemed fine. Our house is quite tall and many parts of the exterior are not immediately visible without a ladder. After Van Gogh finished up, we commenced the next project, namely having an exterminator look for possible rodent ingress. The exterminator pointed to several areas that had not been "sealed," caulked, painted, or even cleaned up. In once space, a rodent had gnawed through a wooden slat and gained access to our attic. Van Gogh had simply painted over. In fact, we found a big pile of chicken wire (used behind lattice work to prevent rodent ingress) that had been tossed among various debris by Van Gogh. In addition, after the first rain of the season, the paint on the walkway (supposed "sealed") began to peel off. We also experienced major water intrusion through gaps in the porch. Finally, several window frames were either not completed or missed altogether. Representative photos are attached. We made every possible effort to allow Greg/Van Gogh to remedy this work. My wife and I have sent countless text messages (including photos) and left numerous voicemails in the last three months, both to Greg and to the foreman. For the most part, Van Gogh has ignored our messages. However, Greg and the foreman have occasionally said that someone would come out and address the issues. Then they have set dates (always vague as to the time) and, for the most part, not shown up. The foreman has come out twice now (both times with an excuse about why no one could come sooner or come on the agreed-upon date), walked around the property, acknowledged the problems, and said that they would complete the job. But then no follow up. The last we heard from Van Gogh was on the morning of January 18. 2020. Out of the blue, the foreman called and asked if he could come by that morning. My wife and I had plans, so he said he would come by on January 20 to finish the work. No one ever called or showed up. I have hired someone to do some repairs, and done some myself, but there is still quite a bit that needs to be done. And it is absolutely ridiculous for me to be doing any remedial work after paying $20k to this outfit. UPDATE: On January 28, 2020, immediately after this review went live on Yelp and other platforms, the owner (Greg) posted a rambling "straw man" rebuttal on Angie's List arguing that he had never been retained to handle rodents. His foreman then called, supposedly to schedule a time to come out and finish the work. The foreman said that he would be coming on Saturday, February 1 at 8:00am. No one came on February 1, nor did anyone call, text or otherwise reach out. That has happened several times now, and is illustrative of Van Gogh's utter lack of professionalism and common courtesy. read more

Save yourself the headache and money and don't hire Greg or Van Gogh Pros. Before we even talk about the poor quality job that required many fixes, let's start with Greg miscalculating the balance of our invoice and over-charged us $1000. We caught the mistake a couple days after we wrote the last check. He finally acknowledged his mistake and asked us what phone number to Zelle the money to, then crickets. We've gone back and forth for WEEKS, the latest was he's going to drop off the check, and again crickets. Greg is a con-man.  I know he is going to claim he didn't know he received the money because he's not familiar with Zelle (a lie), or that the money went to his personal account and not his business account (another lie since we sent the money to the phone number he gave us), or that the check must have been lost in the mail (we NEVER said to mail a check).  We are now suing him for the $1000 he owes us. The job was painting the full interior of our 1100sq ft home. The "finished" job included paint smeared on the window glass that needed to be scraped off, painted over stickers on the wall, missed spots, paint specks all over our hardwood floors, and the worst was they completely scratched our newly refinished hardwood floors in the bedroom from moving the bed. They tried to say we made the scratches even though we've lived in this house for 6 months and the heavy wood bed was constructed in the room and hadn't moved a centimeter since then. There was routinely ONE worker in our house alone, and we saw the bed moved multiple times, meaning he tried to move a solid wood king sized bed himself. He used furniture movers meant for carpet (the hard plastic kind) so of course the floor was scratched. Greg admitted the mistake and buffed out the floors. This has been the worst experience with a contractor we've had while renovating our house. Also the only two positive google reviews are from Greg the owner and his wife, go figure. Let's see what ridiculous rebuttal he posts on here. Update: After posting this review elsewhere, Greg sent us the $1,000 via Zelle, proving he did LIE about not being familiar with Zelle and also that he never mailed us a check. Greg painted our 4 bedroom house and detached garage. It took less than a week, including prep work which involved removing and replacing some of the trim boards that were rotted. Our house hadn't been painted since the 90s. All the prep work paid off. The rest of the work was a breeze. Now we love our new color and upgraded look to our house. read more

Professional Service at its best! Greg and his team completed painting the interior of my home in two days. They also stained my entrance door & it looks better than new. When I requested a quote Greg responded within the hour and he was at my home the next day. Start to finish on this job was less than 3 days. His team is of the highest standards. DO NOT HIRE GREG. He is a flake. The reason we went with him was because he was licensed, his crew who does the work is not, and it shows. I will attach pictures of their work. The only time I saw Greg was when he would come collect money. At the final payment, I showed him the things that needed to be corrected. He said they would be back. I have a month of texts, where he says he will return(to put our chimney cap back on, and correct the uneven and bubbling paint) he flaked every single time. It has only been 2 months since he did the job and it is already bubbling. His crew did not read the contract, nor did he tell them that a piece of wood was to be cut and replaced. That was never done and of course they never came back as promised. We were supposed to have 2 colors, dark gray and white trim. I will show a text that he talked me into a light gray that 5 mins later I said no, I wanted the color that we chose. Of course we come home to our house painted BABY BLUE. After they painted the correct color, he STILL PAINTED THE POOL BABY BLUE. HE DOES NOT LISTEN TO WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS. He makes excuses and then does not return. We had to hire someone to put our chimney cap on, and now have to hire someone to replace that piece of wood, that he was contracted to do, AND repaint. I will be suing him to collect. Hired them to paint my bathroom walls and ceiling. The painters showed up on early and they were able to complete everything on the same day. They did a great job of painting and patching up the walls (from old bathroom towel rack). I really like that he spent the time cleaning up and making sure the bathroom was the way they found it. Greg, the owner came by the check the work the next day and made sure he fixed a few paint issues. He even offered to install the new towel rack and toilet paper holder. Hired them to paint our ceilings and kitchen. We took off the original popcorn ourselves, and the crew did a great job of patching up our amateur work. The crew worked fast, did great work, and was respectful of our belongings and put everything back just the way it was. Everything came out just as we hoped. Great work, attentive service. I checked with three different painting companies to touch up the facial, shutters, and some metal window dressings during the past winter on my home. All the quotes were fairly similar in total price. What set Van Gogh's apart was the promptness of the response (another company I had to call back multiple times to get an estimate after they came out to look at the house) and the attention to detail (Greg was the only one to provide a detailed, itemized estimate in writing). Job was started on time and finished within a couple of days, on schedule. Its been three months and the paint looks as good as the first day so its weathered the winter well. read more
