Halfway through our walking tour of Milan, our guide stopped in this general area for the folks to have a 15 minute break. Like radar, some of our group walked down the street and saw this large pastry and gelato shop. The shop has a large selection of pastries and gelato. I got a small cup of gelato and it was OK. Not quite the soft consistency of the other gelato we got in Italy but good nonetheless. Since we only had 15 minutes, there wasn't much time. read more

Items Selected: Sfogliatella Pear Chocolate Cake Plum Cake Crema, Pistachio, Straciatella Gelato An impromptu stop along a walking tour from The Last Supper to Duomo, Van Bol & Feste presents much like an Italian "Bakery Cafe" concept akin to America's Panera, the combination of outdoor seating and fast service allowing for a quick fifteen minute break during which a few Pastries and Gelato were sampled. Spacious and nicely decorated with high ceilings and a coffee bar plus a menu of Salads, Pastas and Sandwiches, most entering Van Bol & Feste are immediately drawn to the freezer case and glass shelves nearest the patio and where English-friendly youngsters are situated to answer questions while also offering samples. Featuring an in-house bakery and Gelateria, the latter sending out fifteen flavors daily with bright colors and far more sugar than frozen confections tasted in Milan, Venice or Parma, a three-scoop cone of Crema, Straciatella and Pistachio proved respectable though not exemplary, the portions bigger than most though the texture was a touch icy. Moving on to the pastry program, no less than two-dozen classics and novelties glistening beneath glass, a Sfogliatella seemed mandatory given the lack found throughout our travels and with light layers quick to shatter around soft Cream both flavor and texture were on par to any experienced prior, the Plum Cake something like an enlarged Financier infused with Port Wine while the Chocolate Cake was light on fruit flavor, though still quite rich and moist. read more

I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I had a cappuccino and a brioche. The cappuccino was luke warm. The price from standing at the bar and sitting down is almost doubled. So I recommend you standing at the bar. A cappuccino cost me 4 euros and the brioche was 2 euros :/ read more

I hope they suffer in food hell: they are slow, pricey and worse of all, everybody seems to be insulted by the customers presence. It was neither full nor understaffed (like 4 people behind the counter), 5 table to server, nothing going on inside. So I went in, usually they use the cashier station on the left, just to informed (in a grumpy fashion) that I should use the cashier at the counter. Of course, the only panino I wanted, wasn't indicated by name or price sign which doesn't hinder them to bill 6€ for a piece of bread with some decoration. Seriously, never come in here, it's not worth the money. read more

I like to eat a lite lunch when I am out sightseeing and this bistro established in 1890 was just the place I was looking for. Close to the castle and overlooking the traffic circle, the outside seating provided the right dining experience. The focaccia, eggplant parmigiana and ham club sandwich were all delicious but the french fries cut in a unique shape were the best I have ever had! The dark chocolate gelato was great as was the mango flavored one but the pistachio flavor and hazelnut flavor did not have much flavor. Good food and easy in the wallet. read more

Very good service and great location near all the touristy things. The coffee and gelato was good but nothing so great that I need to go back for again and again. The best thing is that it is very convenient and really good service makes for a good place when you need a break from visiting all the surrounding spots. read more

Pricey but convenient location. Have dined in for lunch once and drinks on another occasion but usually just drop by for gelato. Once in a blue moon, they have almond and mint gelato, my favorite. Their mint is fantastic, you can actually see little bits of mint throughout. read more

Came here for an after castle visit. Got an affogato and it was delicious! Co worker got mango gelato which was equally satisfying. I can't say for the prices because I'm a tourist, but seemed like a nice gathering spot to rest and get an afternoon snack. read more

They have two outside chargers and I'm a tourist who has never found such magicalness! They let me charge it if I bought something. I stayed a long time and they left me alone. Lots of pastries, gelato, bite sized food and drinks. Nice music playing. Touristy location but everyone seemed local. Pricey but it's decent. Outdoor seating is good and big - great for people watching. read more
