Items Selected: Sfogliatella Pear Chocolate Cake Plum Cake Crema, Pistachio, Straciatella Gelato An impromptu stop along a walking tour from The Last Supper to Duomo, Van Bol & Feste presents much like an Italian "Bakery Cafe" concept akin to America's Panera, the combination of outdoor seating and fast service allowing for a quick fifteen minute break during which a few Pastries and Gelato were sampled. Spacious and nicely decorated with high ceilings and a coffee bar plus a menu of Salads, Pastas and Sandwiches, most entering Van Bol & Feste are immediately drawn to the freezer case and glass shelves nearest the patio and where English-friendly youngsters are situated to answer questions while also offering samples. Featuring an in-house bakery and Gelateria, the latter sending out fifteen flavors daily with bright colors and far more sugar than frozen confections tasted in Milan, Venice or Parma, a three-scoop cone of Crema, Straciatella and Pistachio proved respectable though not exemplary, the portions bigger than most though the texture was a touch icy. Moving on to the pastry program, no less than two-dozen classics and novelties glistening beneath glass, a Sfogliatella seemed mandatory given the lack found throughout our travels and with light layers quick to shatter around soft Cream both flavor and texture were on par to any experienced prior, the Plum Cake something like an enlarged Financier infused with Port Wine while the Chocolate Cake was light on fruit flavor, though still quite rich and moist.

I like to eat a lite lunch when I am out sightseeing and this bistro established in 1890 was just the place I was looking for. Close to the castle and overlooking the traffic circle, the outside seating provided the right dining experience. The focaccia, eggplant parmigiana and ham club sandwich were all delicious but the french fries cut in a unique shape were the best I have ever had! The dark chocolate gelato was great as was the mango flavored one but the pistachio flavor and hazelnut flavor did not have much flavor. Good food and easy in the wallet.

Had their house red (medium finish), Dieci Monferrato Rosso, for about 10euro - you cannot beat this. Guests drank the whole bottle and literally ran a marathon the next day. This was delicious with our pasta and would go perfectly with any meats. Amazing and perfect meal in Milan! The service was impeccable and staff was super kind.

She found Nerino Dieci but they were about to close for lunch so we rushed over. We got there with time to spare. The bartender greeted us right away and asked if we had reservations. We didn't so we stood in line to be seated with everyone who didn't have reservations. The place was full! When you enter, you immediately see their bar area. To your left, as you face the dining area, you see the grilling area. It's very clean and organized! It didn't take too long to be seated and we were happy they could take us so close to closing. We were provided English menus. Since we had time to check out their offerings online while we waited for a table, we had screenshots of what we wanted. It was a little hard to find the corresponding menu item with the screenshots at first. Our server came over and took our order when we looked confident with what we wanted to order. Just to be safe, we also shared photos to minimize errors. We ordered a Tagliolini with Clams and Spicy Salami, Tonnarelli with Cheeses, Pepper and Bacon, Milanese Veal Cutlet with Rocket and Cherry Tomatoes, Natural Microfiltered Draft Water and a Glass of House Red Wine. Our server asked how we wanted the food to come out and we said all together. It didn't take the bar long to get our drinks to us. After some conversation, our food arrived and it looked amazing! The Tagliolini with Clams and Spicy Salami along with the Milanese Veal Cutlet with Rocket and Cherry Tomatoes arrived first. Minutes later, the Tonnarelli with Cheeses, Pepper and Bacon arrived. The clams in Mink's dish were very tasty and the pasta had a slight kick to it through its sauce. We both really enjoyed the cutlet and completely finished it. It was huge so that surprised us that we finished the plate. The Cacio e Pepe was very cheesy and rich. It was really good but heavy. The food is delicious here and we can see why they have earned so many good reviews. Good customer service from the entire staff and they work nonstop due to how busy they are with the lunch rush. Another awesome find by Mink.

This is very unfortunate. I somehow figured out enough on the menu to decide to get the cheese with tomatoes in a pan with pita to start, and then I got a chicken/cheese salad. Also, no such thing as free water here. So you better wanna spend big and wait a long time to get your food... I don't really know anyone who sets out to do that. It was 7:00 PM in the restaurant was very empty. Weird. The decorations are very tacky and the wait staff are very rude. They could not give a care in the world about whether or not your food is coming, and they just stand there all day on their phones! It's took about 30 minutes for my first dish to come, and then 20 minutes for my salad to come... Kind of ridiculous... No wonder overall this place has 3 stars. The food won't kill you... But the service might. Gosh. Would it kill these people to be apologetic about how long the food takes to be prepared... that's what waiters are supposed to do.

The service was attentive and the waiters (I went multiple times in the months that I was in Milano) were patient and helpful in explaining the dishes. Itaka had some wonderful "fusion" style offerings and delicious wine. Give them a try. The place has a pleasing yet fresh casual atmosphere and tasty dishes. PS-Maybe we should cut them a little slack if they resolutely refused to learn English in Italy. Whoda thunk?
