I loved going to the local ice cream or frozen custard stand with my family when I was a kid... and Vampire Penguin is a reminder of it. There's outdoor seating (umbrella tables) and indoor as well. A very small strip mall near Lowe's and Target. Staff is friendly and helpful-- though not chatty. VP caters to families, even though the prices are a bit higher than at a crushed ice stand. (Huge difference is that this is shaved SNOW-- and it is way better tasting than the crushed ice). These are more like a gourmet dessert that have "eye appeal" and taste great. (Get small size for your kids they are pretty filling). So to summarize, it's fun because it's not ordinary and the staff takes pride in their creations. Make your own if you're adventurous, which I plan to do next time. Been three times now. I like it a great deal and don't feel weighed down after eating it. If you're looking for something unique and delicious. This. Is. It. I hate shaved ice and he melts watered down flavors it has to offer and this place has figured it out!! They freeze the flavor into he ice block and then shave it to the finest powder it rivals a fresh snow fall!! I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch because they were out of the cinnamon roll. They put all the cinnamon roll toppings in it to make up for it though!! The texture is so unique and the topping were great. My husband got the Reece's with peanut butter "snow". Tastes like flavored snow!! Service is always fast and always right. The ambience is also always calming.

Okay so it's been awhile since we went back. We ordered 3 new flavors, mint, red velvet and something with coffee. Honestly I was disappointed with the flavors. It reminded me of when I was little and it snowed and we scooped it up and added milk and vanilla. It lacked the flavor explosion that I got when I had purchased the fruity pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Honestly I don't think I'll go back at least maybe try a different location. I love the whole concept of healthier alternatives to desserts but if it's lacking flavor you'll eventually find it elsewhere it just may take a few tries like when I buy keto friendly protein bars and some just taste like cardboard. I'm not sure if they changed how it's made or the owners but I may try a different location or a different dessert shop before spending another $25 dollars on the lack of taste. Alternative to ice cream. You will get a brain freeze if you eat too fast. The shaved ice is soft and as creamy as ice will get. The flavors are very good. Fruity flavors have good amount of fruit served in the side of the shaved ice. They even have banana split. Hubby had the peach cobbler, food amount of peaches. Tasted like a peach cobbler, too. I had the South Carolina sunset. Tastes like a strawberry/ pineapple sherbet. Canned pineapple and fresh strawberries in syrup. My granddaughter made her own flavor with mango boba. They also serve boba tea. Curbside pick available. Cut indoor decor. Selling local artists paintings. Try something new and most likely less calories than ice cream! What a fun place for a super unique dessert! Our family stopped in for some "snow" while visiting the area and had no idea what we were in for. The flavors were delicious (we tried 6 different flavors) and the texture of the "snow" was smooth and creamy. We all gobbled ours up in no time and are eager to get more sometime. I came here because this was the only place that I could find in Anderson that serves boba tea, I'm sure there are other places but this was the only one that I could find. HUGE MISTAKE. I ended paying 7 dollars for a solo cup full of doodoo green liquid with mushy turd balls at the bottom. It was awful. Absolutely awful. After asking for refund I was told that they can't give refund on the boba tea. I was also told that their boba balls or whatever are not made in the store. DO WHAT!?! I'm sorry but if a place is going to sell boba for 7 dollars a cup, they should at least take the time to make the the tapioca. I didn't even know that it could be bought pre made.
