32oz. Menudo

Looking for Mexican restaurant that serves tasty menudo? Well, look no further. Vamos a Texcoco serves the best menudo we have tried to date. Their homely style of cooking makes a difference. The broth is very well balanced, flavoured, and most of all, doesn't have that particular smell that can put you off from eating the soup. Once we tasted the first mouthful, we knew that we have finally found the right place for menudo soups. I also tried burrito with nopales and it was super tasty. Nopales were well prepared, cooked and paired great with all ingredients. We had a chance to speak with our waitress, who was very nice, and she advised us that the dishes their prepare are homemade style using fresh ingredients without adding artificial colours and preservatives!! I am sold. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is our new place to go to for Mexican food.

Cabeza tacos

Wow authentic Mexican BBQ in North County. Excellent service and yummy food. Two of us ordered the Martinez dishes. Lamb barbacoa. I had the deconstructed and my friend the soup version. They come with tender lamb, cactus, avacado, corn tortillas, and lamb broth. Husband had cabeza tacos and goat stew. They put chopped onions, lime wedges and a onion salad on the table as condiments. We also had homemade churro with chocolate sauce. Very delicious! This is a popular place, but we sat right away.

My experience in Texcoco wasn't good. I ordered two menudos, and they were flavorless, nothing like what I expected. Plus, they took a long time to serve. Honestly, I wouldn't go back.

El servicio es excelente, todo muy rico es muy dificil encontrar un lugar que lo atiendan y que tengan muy buen sabor la comida, la barbacoa estaba muy calientita y con muy buen sabor gracias a los cocineros y al buen servicio de Isela

Lamb stop number #1. I can get my fix and leave. Not a bunch of hype, but some darn good lamb and fixins . . . Texcoco Mexico style. I liken this place for lamb as I do Puerto Nuevo for lobster. They just do it right at this place. I'm not too sure of the actual 'barbecue' cooking method or style, but it sure is delicious. I would speak more of the menu, but unless you can read and understand Spanish, then all I can do is point and shoot. I was even questioned by the server, "You don't speak ANY Spanish?" I do, I just can't do the full interpretation thing from reading to speaking to translation. Perhaps they do have an English translated menu, but a different server came over to assist with my order. So what gives with all plastic ware and only the metal spoon for my soup? There were plastic spoons and forks for the condiments. Hmmm. Good stuff. Fresh, hot and delicious. Dicks

Tepazcal Cocktail
June M.

We got the carne asada fries, consomme, birria tacos, and barbacoa dorado tacos, along with the tepazcal cocktail. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The tepazcal cocktail was a smash hit - first of all, it was $9, and where can you find a cocktail anywhere these days for under $10? It was the perfect balance of smoky, sour, and sweet and so refreshing. Guacamole is that hard-to-find, freshly made, chunky, homemade style. The corn tortillas were fresh and delicious enough to be eaten on their simply dipped in the consomme. And that birria! *Chef's Kiss* Fantastic.

This is a hidden gem in Vista! We were looking for a casual restaurant for a relaxing dinner with…read morefriends, and this place was perfect. The food was fantastic, they have an excellent beer menu (and other adult beverages are available too), and our waiter was so fun and helpful. Two of us had the chicken mole - the chicken was perfectly cooked, the corn tortillas were handmade and fresh, and the mole sauce was flavorful and well balanced - delicious. The rest of us had the carnitas, enchiladas and a couple of tacos and everything was exceptional. We will definitely be back soon!

There were approximately 12 tables in the first section, and it got a little loud as it filled up at lunch time but not bad to the point of annoying. Not sure how many tables in the second section. Our very pleasant server brought us waters and fresh Tortilla Chips with a Black Bean sauce on them and two different hot sauces. Very fresh tasting and enjoyable. We ordered Modelo draft Beers, $7 each. They gave us a breakfast menu, regular menu, drink menu and another menu that I didn't even bother to look at. Too much. My friend and I really like Taquitos, so we thought we would give them a try here since it was our first time. He got beef and I got chicken. They also have pork. For $15, we got five Taquitos covered with some Black Bean sauce, Guacamole, Creme Fresh and Mexican Cheese. They were piping hot when served, crunchy on the outside with a good amount of filling that you could sink your teeth into and really taste. They were delicious, some of the best we have had. By the time we finished our lunch every table in our section was occupied and they had opened up their second seating area too. A consistent stream of "To Go" orders was being picked up all during our lunch. If I could, I would have given them a 4.7-star rating. The only reason not to being a 5 is two things. First, the entry point is a choke point, people standing in and out the front door trying to get in and there are no waiting seats inside so people waiting to pick up a "To Go" order sit at tables and or stand over other diners by the front door. Second the ambience is on the noisy side and basic. For their great food it is not going to stop me from going back and trying some of their other dishes though.

I got a burrito meal with double rice instead of beans and was brought a burrito with all beans. I asked if the burrito could be served wet and the waitress seemed confused, ultimately it came with red sauce and unmelted cheese on top but it didn't add much flavor. My partner also got got a burrito with no guacamole because it makes him I'll, he got guac on the burrito and no sides. Not sure how that was interpreted. Also, we didn't receive our food at the same time, with quite a gap of time in between. It feels like their priorities are in a weird order. Waitress was running around ragged and may need more training. For some reason one guy was hanging around on his phone acting as a dj for a room of maybe 12 people at 3 tables? He would have been better served as a busser to help the waitress clear up and refill drinks. The only condiments on the table was one shaker of pepper and we ended up raiding the server area for sauces. No refills until we were done. Also, they use A.I. for their specials slideshow on their T.V., which I feel like is a hint on the kind of experience you'll have. When will restaurants learn I'd rather see Polaroids of their actual food on a board than an A.I. interpretation of food that look nothing like what they serve? It could be better overall, if they focused on the food and training.
