32oz. Menudo
Jarek M.

Looking for Mexican restaurant that serves tasty menudo? Well, look no further. Vamos a Texcoco serves the best menudo we have tried to date. Their homely style of cooking makes a difference. The broth is very well balanced, flavoured, and most of all, doesn't have that particular smell that can put you off from eating the soup. Once we tasted the first mouthful, we knew that we have finally found the right place for menudo soups. I also tried burrito with nopales and it was super tasty. Nopales were well prepared, cooked and paired great with all ingredients. We had a chance to speak with our waitress, who was very nice, and she advised us that the dishes their prepare are homemade style using fresh ingredients without adding artificial colours and preservatives!! I am sold. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is our new place to go to for Mexican food.

32oz. Menudo

My experience in Texcoco wasn't good. I ordered two menudos, and they were flavorless, nothing like what I expected. Plus, they took a long time to serve. Honestly, I wouldn't go back.

El servicio es excelente, todo muy rico es muy dificil encontrar un lugar que lo atiendan y que tengan muy buen sabor la comida, la barbacoa estaba muy calientita y con muy buen sabor gracias a los cocineros y al buen servicio de Isela

Wow authentic Mexican BBQ in North County. Excellent service and yummy food. Two of us ordered the Martinez dishes. Lamb barbacoa. I had the deconstructed and my friend the soup version. They come with tender lamb, cactus, avacado, corn tortillas, and lamb broth. Husband had cabeza tacos and goat stew. They put chopped onions, lime wedges and a onion salad on the table as condiments. We also had homemade churro with chocolate sauce. Very delicious! This is a popular place, but we sat right away.

Lamb stop number #1. I can get my fix and leave. Not a bunch of hype, but some darn good lamb and fixins . . . Texcoco Mexico style. I liken this place for lamb as I do Puerto Nuevo for lobster. They just do it right at this place. I'm not too sure of the actual 'barbecue' cooking method or style, but it sure is delicious. I would speak more of the menu, but unless you can read and understand Spanish, then all I can do is point and shoot. I was even questioned by the server, "You don't speak ANY Spanish?" I do, I just can't do the full interpretation thing from reading to speaking to translation. Perhaps they do have an English translated menu, but a different server came over to assist with my order. So what gives with all plastic ware and only the metal spoon for my soup? There were plastic spoons and forks for the condiments. Hmmm. Good stuff. Fresh, hot and delicious. Dicks

Tepazcal Cocktail

We got the carne asada fries, consomme, birria tacos, and barbacoa dorado tacos, along with the tepazcal cocktail. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The tepazcal cocktail was a smash hit - first of all, it was $9, and where can you find a cocktail anywhere these days for under $10? It was the perfect balance of smoky, sour, and sweet and so refreshing. Guacamole is that hard-to-find, freshly made, chunky, homemade style. The corn tortillas were fresh and delicious enough to be eaten on their simply dipped in the consomme. And that birria! *Chef's Kiss* Fantastic.

Lamb by the Pound (3 lbs)

This is my favorite barbacoa in Vista! We always love to have this meal as a family. 3 pounds of lamb and a large consume per person is perfect for a family of 5. You'll be eating authentic Mexican food! I love that they added a bar in the separate room! Makes me excited to try the drinks they have to offer! There's no doubt I'll be back but it was disappointing that there was miscommunication about when we wanted our order to be ready. We wanted our order ready in 30 min. When we arrived they weren't aware about our order and the ticket was found on the counter. We waited about 20 min or less. I was worried something was going to be forgotten or something would be missing. But I am impressed that everything was exactly how we asked. I just recommend saying the exact time you would like the order to be READY if you're calling. That's what I'll be trying next time. Just be mindful that depending on how busy they are it can take 30 minutes or more to have it ready.

My favorite place for barbacoa! Every Christmas Eve our family orders from this restaurant for our holiday dinner. It's a tradition now that I do not ever want it to end. I started off with my consome before making some delicious tacos. The great thing about this place is that we can order on the day off and have our take out ready in a few minutes. I highly recommend visiting this place for delicious barbacoa and don't forget to order the Martinez Special (all the deliciousness in one order) with a side order of champurrado. It's heavy, but it hits the spot, especially during winter. I love this place!

You enter and there is an awesome salsa bar with many salsas, Mexican carrots and onions, chopped onions, and so much more, Mexican soccer (ok, futbol) on the tube, homemade aguas frescas, and real cooking happening behind the counter. You should be convinced by now that this is the real deal. I beg you: please do not order a bean and cheese burrito here. The adobada burrito is wonderful. It is perfectly-sized and the meat is freshly-cooked, well-seasoned and delicious. I have no doubt every item on the menu tastes great, probably even the bean and cheese burrito. With your burrito, you get two small plastic cups for salsa and a baggie for carrots or peppers or whatever. It is 25 cents for each additional salsa cup, which seems a little steep. But whatever you do, make sure you get the chipotle salsa. It may be the best salsa in history. It is honestly that good. I drove 25 minutes getting there and another 25 minutes getting home in order to try this place out, and there is a taco shop a quarter mile from me that I happily passed. I would make this drive every time.

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media…read more For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

This place is great!…read more Wife and I came out on a date night to this local spot we've been trying to come to for months. It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.
