"Value world" is a comical name for this establishment. This place should sell lube at the door before they mount you. Selling FAKE purses for 30% more than they even sell for online is heinous. 3/4 coach purses were FAKE and $80+. The one real coach purse you might be wondering? $90 with a massive hole on the side! I wouldn't trade a bag of my own sh*t for this close to the grave purse. Insane prices. Store is so full because it's full of overpriced crap! Yikes read more

Terrible customer service and weird pricing. NO FITTING ROOMS!! They took them away since Covid and use that as an excuse to never open them again. Good luck figuring out if things fit. Well, this place was a bust. What a bummer. It went from 4 stars to 1 star real quick. Here's why. I wanted to do some thrift shopping and go some place different. It comes up on my Yelp searches from time to time, so I figured I'd give it a shot and just go check it out. It's in an uglier part of Pontiac, but I threw caution to the wind and said why the heck not. I pull in and started strolling through the place. I loved the clothing selection, prices were great and everything was going great. I pulled a few tops that appealed to me and was going to try them on after cruising the isles for a good 30 minutes. I was pumped! Two polo tops and a Nautica! Prices were amazing and they were clean and in good condition. I was thrilled! Then, I wanted to try them on. Here's where they lose all my respect. They DO NOT have changing rooms. I repeat, NO CHANGING ROOMS. They also have a no return policy/all sales final thing too. So, if it doesn't fit once you pay for it, your screwed. I asked the girl at the register (the only staff member there) if I could use the bathroom to try stuff on. She said it's not allowed, and there's signs posted next to the bathoom stating your on camera and don't dare go in there to try things on. No merchendise allowed in the bathrooms. I asked her how am I supposed to know how it fits if I can't try it on? She said I could put it on over my clothes. Me thinks not. I did buy one shirt for $4 becuase I liked it that much, but I will not be back to shop here ever again. If I can't try it on, it's pointless to even come here. I was so mad. No changing rooms is not good. The register gal also told me that she's had people change clothes in the middle of the isle when pants shopping. Awesome. I'm not going here ever again. read more

I enjoy thrifting and had wondered about Value World, but the moment I walked in I was turned off by the musty odor. Examining the merchandise, it was clear that items are not thoroughly cleaned before being put on display. Pricing is simply odd; items marked $2.81 or $4.80 instead of a more common price such as $1.99 or $4.99. And overall, pricing is much better at Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul. The worst section was housewares, where almost nothing was priced, everything needed a good washing, and items were simply thrown out onto shelves (or in the case of baskets and bed frames, in the floor). As in other areas of the store, books had missing or unusual prices on hardcovers ($1.81 for example), and much better used book pricing is available elsewhere. We won't return. read more

Employees not too friendly. Watch your receipt they do not ring up properly. Employees smoking out front gasp. 50 foot rule. Bathroom reeks of chemicals and look your items over they sell torn items and things with missing buttons etc. Be very careful of your selection and receipt. Overall I like shopping here but it can be a drag, also jewelry has missing parts must keep your eyes open. read more

I was out in Pontiac today and I happened to stumble into this Value World. Upon entering I felt the "thrift store excitement" approaching. The store was so big and clean. And, at first sight it looked like there was a lot of good pickin' to be had. I walked over to the sweater aisle and there were a lot of varieties and colors of sweaters, but they weren't quite my size. My Mother found a lot of cute tops, maybe because she's like a size 2. All in all it wasn't too bad, I think I'm just over second hand shopping. read more

Luv this location!~ Value World is my go-to for thrifting (at least in Southeast Michigan) because of the diversity, cleanliness, and sorting system of the store! It's easy to navigate and see where everything is while shopping. I usually come here to buy basics and denim to reconstruct at home, but there are also tons of unique vintage finds if you look hard enough. read more

Every Value World has a different feel and each one is better for different things. This one to me has had a great selection of glasses, but the last time I went they had nothing, and it sucks because they dont have a phone. But they do have a BATHROOM for the public, yay! I love how it's right around the corner from me. It's super big and well organized. I like all the different assortments of clothes. There are newer pieces and more vintage prices. Workers are nice. Also I love how there's so much furniture. I've also loved the book corner since I was little. All in all it's my go to thrift store. read more

This is not regarding the Pontiac store --- this is regarding Value World's Management. The individual stores do not have a phone. Everything goes through the main office. If the main office has one central phone for multiple locations and you hang up on anyone who calls... why even have a phone? They pick up the call and hang up. I called back several times ... same thing. Not even a hello or can I help you. Just hang up !!! You can hear the person on the other end. I did not even have a chance to say why I was calling. I have been a loyal customer for years. I must now say ... Buyer beware. Management's inability to converse a customer over the phone or assist with an issue gives me reason to caution others. It is hard to address a problem when they won't even take your call. Tried calling one more time ... they hung up again. read more

Consistently have found amazing things here and for dirt cheap. Unfortunately, because the place tends to be crowded with items AND people, you have to dig to find the good stuff. The sales are insane. One time last year (2015) I went in and noticed they had a sale on "everything marked with a red X." All those items were $1, no matter what they were. I ended up walking out with a Smith Corona typewriter from the 70's for $1, in near-mint condition. I've also managed to always find specific clothes (need a gypsy skirt? They'll have 10 to choose from. Need 8 black hoodies? They stock about 100 of every color.) They're also great about rotating seasonal products, like having bathing suits ready in April so you actually have time to come back and scope them out before you commit to one in June or whatever. The half off coupons are fantastic and any time there's a coupon around, I always get asked by random strangers if I need one (most people have multiple copies.) Biggest cons? Crowded, especially for coupon days/holidays, so often there won't be any baskets and most of them are janky anyway. The bathroom smells kinda weird. There's no fitting room (so wear leggings and a tank if you're a girl) but they have a couple full-length mirrors in random sections of the store and you can usually find one free. People change into stuff in front of these constantly, it's like we all know the rules about wearing comfortable, tight clothing so you don't get stuck buying something that doesn't fit once you get home. Employees have never seemed to mind, but it IS an inconvenience to not have actual fitting rooms or have to stand there for 20 minutes waiting for someone else to stop hogging the mirror. Location is also hit or miss - some Value Worlds suck (even in better areas) but this specific location has been my favorite for years (and yet it's not in the greatest plaza and sometimes feels unsafe late at night when you're the only car in the lot.) Biggest pros? The prices are RIDICULOUS. A shirt at Value World will be $2.40 but the exact same shirt at Salvation Army will easily run $6. The coupons make those prices even better, because your entire purchase is 50% off with their seasonal coupons. So you wait til you find one, go to Value World when you've got 5 hours to kill, and you walk out with $200 worth of amazing stuff for $100. It's also a great place to stock up on items to donate to shelters, since basics like undershirts and jeans can literally only cost pennies sometimes. Really, I've gotten plain white t-shirts for 40 cents at this place. Also, the service is great. Some of the dumber employees have come and gone over the years, but in general everyone is very friendly, willing to help, and will chat you up while you're checking out. Great shoe section, too, for men and women (seems like the kids shows are always a little more worn out, though.) Every thrifter should go here. It's the best in the area, just keep those eyes open. And go often, they do rotate product VERY quickly (especially during holidays - they will clear out half the building in one day and have to restock with all new stuff by the next.) read more

I found out about this store living in Flint Mi. I now live in Portage Michigan. This is one of the best second hand stores in Michigan or anywhere I have ever been. Some of the best items in my closet are from Value World. If you never been , then go there. Its also easy to find where ever you live in Michigan. I have a friend in Ga who once lived n Flint and we often talk. The first thing she ask me, is when have you been to OUR STORE. I ALWAYS find something here at ValueWorld in Pontiac. It's clean, large, fairly well organized, and just fun! Best: it has restrooms! A large ladies plus size dept, a huge selection of purses/bags, and large book dept. Worst: No dressing rooms :( And don't even try to take something in the restroom to try something on.
