First time today going here (ever) after couple of gov. imposed lockdowns since it opened around…read morethe same time last year My impression of this store was that it was quiet, organized, the people working there were nice and there were a lot of stuff to choose from. In the aisles, the items were organized based on what they were while the at the ends of the aisles (the side near the clothing) were organized by colour. The prices seemed to be lower than the couple of thrift stores I have been to. They don't calculate taxes on what you are getting so if you spend $5, you will pay $5 which was a shock to me (in a good way). I will probably here many more time in the future. I would totally recommend coming here.

*Rating only for the Donation Centre*…read more The Donation Centre at this Goodwill location is great! This plaza gets pretty busy and parking seemed to be packed but if you're looking for the Donation Centre, it is located on the right side, where there is additional parking. There is also a curbside area with signage directing you to pull up to for drop-offs, there's no need to park. At a glance, the Donation Centre looks to be very clean and organized. There is a large door open on the side of the building for donation drop-offs. We were told to leave our donations in the doorway, and the staff will later retrieve and sort through them. They operate with contactless donations - how convenient! Goodwill works with organizations that provide assistance to those with barriers seeking employment and upgrading their skills. What doesn't get sold in their stores, gets rotated to other locations, to Goodwill outlets, then sent to textile factories to be upcycled and repurposed. If you're looking to donate your items, please support non-profit places like Goodwill, rather than for-profit businesses in the area like Value Village and Talize.

With this, Review #150, I have now written about every Value Village within Mississauga…read more Either I really love thrift shopping or I have no life. The jury is still out. I love this location, which makes me kick myself even harder because I never even visited until very recently. Sure, I passed it plenty of times while travelling to and from places, but I never stopped and went in until now. And I was so glad I did. I feel like this place is an untapped mine of goodness. Not only is it NOT picked over like some other VV locations (just look at their suits! Brooks Brothers! Ralph Lauren! Strellson! All $30 or less!), but this place has one of the cleanest tech/junk sections I've ever seen. It's clear that the staff are very mindful about this kind of thing, because the store is impressively organized and almost every inch is curated well. Sure, the paintings are still a bit haphazard, but you're never going to fix that issue. I came in here looking for books, and LORD HAVE MERCY, did I find them. A signed copy of Bob Woodward's "The Secret Man". Signed Kevin O'Leary books! More signed books than I could carry! For $6 a pop! This might be the best-kept thrift store secret in Mississauga. There's rows upon rows of goodness, and it's either being turned over at an incredible rate or there's so much good stuff flowing in that visitors can't keep track of it all. I came here with a friend who went crazy looking for clothing and ended up walking out with $30 in hardly-worn designer apparel for herself. The opportunities are endless. Not to mention the friendly staff! Sure, there are a couple who would rather get on with their day, but most everyone there is respectful and courteous. A rare sight indeed. This is one Value Village I'll definitely be revisiting as soon as possible, and one of the best thrift stores in the city. It's been a long, strange trip. Here's to another 150 Yelp reviews!

I've been to tons of Value Villages and only seem to have a problem at this location, when a certain person is working. She seems to impose her own set of rules that don't make any sense. When she's working, if I have an item that doesn't have a price, chances are, I'll probably be leaving it behind. Case in point: Picked up a pair of vintage, black aviator sunglasses from the regular sunglasses wall. No price. Upon checkout, I give it to the worker who's managing the self-checkout and a while later, manager-on-duty prices it $24.99!!?? Lady, I grabbed it off the wall - not your overpriced showcase. If it was originally priced at $24.99, why would it be in the "wild" with the other cheap sunglasses? Another time, I asked her to reprice a girl's jacket that was priced as a women's. She was ARGUING with me that it was a women's! Jacket was for a 6yo. Completely miserable, unreasonable, right fighter, and seems to NOT want to sell things. Baffles me since it's a retail store.

Positive experience reselling to Julia!…read more Previously, I didn't have such glowing experience from Plato's Closet. (Apparently, they're the same company, but Plato's Closet is geared towards tweens-early 20s whereas Style Encore for the older career woman.) With Plato's either they didn't take any of my items - fine, I understand, they made me wait a looong time, e.g. more than an hour, &/or they'd offer me pocket change. This was my first time at any Style Encore and I was surprised by not only the amount of items, but the brands that they carried! Behind the counter, they had designer handbags, shoes, SLGs - all authenticated by Entrupy. They had EVERYTHING. It was a bit overwhelming for me to browse, as some items were placed high up/racks packed, but this is just my personal preference. HOWEVER, Julia was soo personable, showing me some hidden gems, so if I had something in particular that I was looking for &/or a special event to go to, I think this would be a great place to head! Much better option than looking aimlessly through the mall. Prices were very fair! And looking at some items, in some cases, they were same prices or even cheaper than thrift stores now.

What I regularly see in all of these stores (Mississauga about 10 visits, Whitby one visit) are with rare exceptions noname brands/ripped tags, some super vintage stuff and then loads of George, Ardene, Old Navy, ancient (8-10y old stuff) H&M and Zara, Reitmanns, Le Chateau, Bluenotes, Streetwear society, Urban Planet/Heritage... same repertoire I regularly see at Salvation Army stores. Racks are sometimes so cramped that you just skip all the colour coded (not a fan!!!) black sections bc its a pain in the a$$ to check out every black item! coming from a person whose 50% wardrobe is black. I think people donate best stuff to Value villages bc they get best rewards and use them to get good merch which can be found at vv, my every visit confirms it. Other than that, Talize locations are rather clean and organized and staff is friendly. Too bad donations are what they are or I'd love to shop here. also men get slightly better stuff bc men don't care for thrifting (except those in need) or getting vv rewards to look for treasures so men will just donate what they want to get rid of so it depends on luck whether you'll find a good mens item at Talize.
