I found Steward Financial Services through the Dave Ramsey website as one of his ELP's. I am so…read moreglad I found them! In the past I've relied on H&R Block, my parents' accountant Thomas & Fees, and 1-800 Accountant for accounting services. Long story short, I always ended up owing money even though I was a W2 employee. Also, when you have an accounting service that's basically a huge corporation like 1800 Accountant you don't get the personalized and detailed help that you might need. I remembered having to schedule a phone call/conversation literally 2 months in advance (and they barely had any time slots available) just to ask questions! They would also take weeks to respond to messages, and it was usually different people every time. I found that to be ridiculous considering how much we paid them. My husband and I recently started an LLC at the end of 2017, and I have been freelance/ a consultant since 2017 so our taxes became a lot more complicated, and I was overwhelmed with no idea where to even start. We decided it was time to hire a proper accountant that would be able to speak to us face to face, and we were also looking for an accountant that we could work with for years to come as our business grew. Thanks to Jon Osborn at Steward Financial it's been smooth sailing with our taxes since 2018. He made the entire process as painless as possible and he's so kind and informative at the same time: First and foremost he treats his clients like his clients and not just a number on a piece of paper. Making an appointment was easy (an actual person picked up the phone to schedule us imagine that). We met once in 2018 to go over what was needed, and from there everything was done electronically & through the phone. They have an online portal that makes everything seamless & secure which is also really great. We met a week ago to prepare 2019 taxes. Again, making an appointment with him was so easy and he actually sat down with us to discuss all the details of the business, and even helped us to troubleshoot our Quickbooks. I highly recommend his services if you live in the area and you need an accountant that will actually pay attention to the details, and what's best for you/ your family. I can see why he was endorsed by Dave Ramsey.

Yes, he's normally behind schedule, but the man is BUSY, from open to close. We don't mind the wait considering he's THE BEST tax guy around. If he wasn't, we wouldn't drive 5 hours, one way, to use him. Sure, you can use someone else and be done a lot quicker, but I'm not paying for speed, I'm paying for quality.

Police Tax has taught me an important lesson. If a business has several reviews on Yelp, and the…read moremajority are bad, then it is highly likely those negative reviews are legitimate. I called Police Tax in January and spoke to a man who was one of the company's assistants. I made a "virtual" appointment with Dave at the beginning of February. When I called with a question toward the end of January, I spoke to a woman who was another assistant. The lady told me I did not have an appointment with Dave. Since it was still early in the tax season, I brushed it off and made another appointment with Dave set for the beginning of March. On the night of my first non-existent appointment, I received a telephone call from Police Tax. The lady who called said she was calling for my appointment with Dave. I informed the woman I was told I had no such appointment. She looked it up and said my name was listed as someone else. She did however confirm my second appointment with Dave did exist. On the evening of my second appointment I was ready. Although I received no information on how a "virtual" appointment would work (Teams? Zoom? Meet? Phone call?), I was ready at my desk with my paperwork. No call from anyone from Police Tax. After about ten minutes, I called the company and was greeting by their automated recording with no ability to leave a message. I then sent messages to them through their portal. No response. Twenty-four minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, I received a text message from Jason from Police Tax. Jason wrote that Dave was "running a few minutes behind" and asked if I was okay with waiting or if I wanted to reschedule for the next day. Since I cleared the evening for my appointment I replied that I would wait. Thirty-nine minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, Jason texted me again stating Dave was "running too far behind and does not want (me) waiting any longer." Jason asked to reschedule. I informed Jason I could wait. And considering this was now the third scheduling mishap with the business, I was concerned I might be left scrambling if I rescheduled with a third appointment. Forty-three minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, Jason wrote that "Dave doesn't think it will happen" and asked about scheduling for another day. I gave up and asked if we were going to schedule the new appointment that night. Jason ghosted me after that. No response via text or to my phone call to the number he texted from. And the business' phone line was still answered by same automated recording with no ability to leave a message. If you find tax season isn't stressful enough, this business is for you. If you ignore the warning, good luck.
