Came here after hearing a tip and seeing an ad or two. Government liquor store at a Cold Beer & Wine store? No way. Parking is plentiful in the lot out front. I do wonder how much business the Fraser Arms Hotel actually gets. The inside is brightly lit, and looks surprisingly classy. It was easy to verify if this establishment really does match government pricing, thanks to a smartphone app. I randomly scanned 5 or so products, and sure enough, the prices were identical. The kicker though? The beer here is refrigerated, but with no "cold" premium. Oh yes! I think I've found my new favourite liquor store. Recommended. read more

On line selection hard to find. I used to check what stock they had. Now it won't even activate.

Pros: different selection than BC Liquor. Most (but not all) stuff are a hair cheaper than BC Liquor. Cons: stuff scanned were incorrect in pricing. We bought 8 wines and being the savvy shoppers that we are, they were all on sale. Out of the 8 wines 4 of them were scanned incorrectly. We had to go back in the store and get a price adjustment. We ended up walking out with refund of $10 due to price adjustments. Thank goodness the ladies there accepted the price difference and gave us a refund without any hassle. Overall: I would come back as they have better selection and a bit better pricing than BC Liquor (on most things), but remember to check your bill to make sure the prices are right! Not a bad store for beer and wine. It is located on the former Fraser Arms Hotel's location, now known as Lumiere Plaza. They advertise that they have government liquor store prices. Generally speaking, they do. I went in to check out the selection of wines that they carry, and true to their word, the wines that I buy were the same price. Selection for wine is smaller than a larger store. I'm speculating that they make their money on the craft beer. I noticed that they do carry quite a bit of craft beer on hand. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I did see some labels that I don't normally see at the government stores. You can buy singles as well as packaged multiples. read more

As a person who goes through phases of drinking extreme amounts I have been to this place more than I like to admit, over 100 times in the year i have lives in the area. Some srr tree aft are very nice but the one bleach blonde cook eyed leather face garbage can shaped woman is an oral hag. Never gave me a smile once and I'm friendly and respectful as a customer. Forgot my ID once in a very pressing time and she wouldn't say she had seen me there when I know she had numerous times and the manager nothing either. Never go there again. On the plus side - Very nice, clean and open store. Ample, albeit cramped, parking. Prompt and easy check out. Well stocked but poor selection of beer, wine and spirits. On the minus side - Pretty much what you can get at the BC Liquor Store a few blocks north and not significantly cheaper. Can't complain about the service - there isn't any. Staff are poorly educated. Nobody has ever ask if I needed help, It's hard to find somebody to help you. And if you do get somebody, they don't seem very knowledgeable. Summary - If you know what you want, and you can't get to another liquor store, it's fine. But if you are looking for good prices or help, it's not worth stopping by. read more

Not worth the effort to goto. Not only is the parking lot designed for mini-vehicles (had issue with not enough room to navigate lot by entrance) but prices on the beer we bought wasn't any different than noted elsewhere. If you ask an employee for an item - pronouncing it and showing a photo from the internet (in this example the French pastis Ricard) - I'm going to lose all respect for you when you say "oh Richard isn't there a beer named that?" Sigh. And when you ask the employee to see if it's in their system they don't look apparently going on their vast non-knowledge to say it's not something they sell. Period. Sigh read more

To Katie H of Marpole. As a regular customer I feel obligated to comment on your review. In regards to the staff member, the blonde woman that you attacked and body shamed, she has been nothing but helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly whenever I have shopped or needed help. I think you have no class, and no empathy to be name calling in these very difficult times. That blonde woman and all the staff at Value On are putting their lives on the line to serve us, the public. Let's face it, it's not an easy task dealing with the public at the best of times, let alone at the worst of times with Covid. Your a perfect example of the trash talk and trashy people that they have to deal with and serve. I commend all of the staff and thank them for their service and dedication. If they do have a bad day and can't have a smile on their face every single day, remember how hard it is dealing with the general public and having to deal with rude, insensitive customers like you. DON'T GO HERE! as I read from previous reviews, the "manager" is exceptionally rude. It's the beginning of 2022 and the coke that I purchased with my items expired in 2019 and 2020. When I stated this to the manager he was very cold and could careless. The follow up question from him was "what do you want me to do about it"? Very unprofessional and he claims he is the only person I could deal with regarding the issue. The staff itself obviously hate their jobs, no greeting once coming into the store, they just stare at you and continue on with their miserable day lol. So sad. read more

Yip yip! This liquor store is a convenient hop-skip-and-jump from my office. The hours are really great and there is a damn decent selection of beer. The wine selection isn't the greatest, but I can usually find something good. Hard bar is lacking anything but your basics, but I won't hold it against them... Really I'm just here for the beer and wine. The prices are good for a non-government liquor store. And much to my surprise the other day, their listed price includes tax. So you get an even better deal than you expect. I have no idea how I missed that the first dozen times I went here, but I blame the fact that I usually buy more than one thing at once. This time I walked out with one bottle of wine. When the till said $15.10 and the bottle had been listed at $15 on the shelf. I double checked the receipt on my way out the door amd sure enough, the price including tax only came to $15 plus 10 cents for the bottle deposit. Listed as $14.99 at the BCL. The great thing about this liquor store is the cooler, as Edward mentioned. I can grab a great craft brew and drink it as soon as I get home because it is already cold! Makes those beer-in-the-shower kinda days so much better when you have a cold one to go with the hot shower after a hellish/dirty day. And there is always ample and free parking. Giddy up. read more

When I arrived in the store, I asked for a second wine box. The 'manager' asked what I wanted it for (I had brought one box of my own). I told him I was buying two cases of wine. He told me I should "be polite". I was shocked that he was so rude; I left the store immediately. I have shopped here before, but the experience this morning was so distasteful, I will never return. read more

Love this place. Come here 3-4 times a week for beers. Great prices on beers stored in an ice cold Freezer. What more can you ask for? Regarding the staff--don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. I have had nothing but great service from these guys. read more

I like the hours. Perfect for football watching season. Hate some- actually just one of the staff. Use your brain. This store is a good size and the staff is helpful. I give four stars for the great selection of craft beer and cider and because my particular favorite craft beer is 30% cheaper here than downtown plus they also carry it all season round! Worth the trip to the end of Granville Street. read more

Anything less then 4 stars isn't doing this place justice. There's a great selection of beers, lots of good wines, and all the basic bar liquors you need. Their prices beat government liquor store prices by at least 2%, AND Value On has already included the tax in their listed price. Great place that's easy to get to and has ample parking. The guy at the bottle refund counter is a real jerk. He refused to accept the bottles because they were not clean enough for him to touch. He said that I have to take the garbage home and would not allowed me to dispose in the garbage can outside because the garbage can is belong to him, ha! I would be appreciated that just tell me there is a recycle bins around the corner, I finally disposed them in the blue bin. I will probably file a complain once i get the chance. Whom should I complain to? The manager of the store or the branch manager for being so rude to a customer? The other staffs are very friendly and helpful..
