My wife and I were visiting from North Carolina along with our cat who was receiving palliative care. Her health took a rapid downturn and we had no choice but to find an emergency service to euthanise her. VVA took our call and booked us in right away, and their service was exceptional. Their staff was professional and accommodating with excellent bedside manner, and helped to ease the difficulty of saying goodbye to our pet. Due to the time it would take for the cremation, they also helped us organize having her remains sent back to our home in Wilmington. My cousin took his cat here and was charged $581,00 with no diagnosis. It was $250.00 for emergency visit, and they used a urine sample that was taken from the exam table, no telling what was on that table prior to his cat. In his despair he left the clinic and tried to dispute the charges the next day. They refused to compromise, even though the doctor on duty that night admitted that they were understaffed. read more

The front staff weren't very friendly. In fact, one of them was downright rude. However, Dr.Fassett was compassionate and kind. I knew my dog was dying and unfortunately the staff was not kind or caring. I almost didn't stay. It was a weekend and limited options. However, Dr.Fassett was wonderful and absolutely one of the kindest people I've met. I give this place a 10 for Dr.Fassett. A little disappointed with Valley Veterinary Associates. My dog has only been a patient a short time as we are new to this area, and he has only been there twice but those two visits combined we spent $1049. I called for a prescription renewal but wanted a written script because I can get the medication at Costco for half the price and they have the audacity to charge a fee for a written prescription. They had acknowledged over the phone that I had six months renewal available before he would have to be seen again but never mentioned the fee involved until I arrived. I am just beside myself that this Veterinarian would rather lose a patient than give me a written prescription at no charge. I guess they figure they won't be making huge profit on the mediation that they have to figure out another way to force me to pay them something. The fee was only $10 but it is not the money, it's the principal. What doctor charges a fee for the written script when you have already paid the fee for the office visit. read more

I made an appointment for a dental cleaning and vaccination and when I arrived they claimed no knowledge of the cleaning appointment. I had told the vet I would make an appointment but the vet did not add it to his notes. When I arrived for the appointment they said it did not exist and then wanted to charge me for the vaccination they said the dog did not need. I refused to pay and said I still wanted the cleaning and would pay then. They then told me to find another vet. read more

Getting quality routine and non-critical veterinary services in a small population area in Central NY. The animal shelter in my Otsego County is remarkable and offers excellent rescue animals, that's the exception. I have a pair of cats, Timon and Zazu that came from the animal shelter to me as kittens. Timon had a problem, and I went to the Valley Veterinary Associates. I made a telephone appointment. It was a cat thing, but I made an appointment for the following day. I followed the orders of Dr. Bridgeman and at the return visit healing was excellent. Most veterinarians and their practices in CNY make their living with farm animals however I felt that Timon was treated excellently and properly diagnosed. Dr. Bridgeman and his staff actually listened to me describe the problem and offered a solution. I think Valley Vet in Unadilla offers excellent care for any small animal issue. I evened received email reminders of the follow-up visit. If you just assume that it will go away that is usually a mistake. The practice is actually past Unadilla on State Highway 7, and worth going there. read more

Sign in staff were very helpful and friendly. Would be helpful if front doors were automatic or had a button to open when hands are full with puppies. Actually the sign-in associates could open a door in such occasions. I have been a client of Valley Vet for a long time, and promoted their service to others. Today, however , had minor problem with one of my dogs and was very disappointed in the individual who answered my call. It was not an emergency but my pet was in distress and needed his nails clipped. I was told that he needed a distemper shot and they could not help me until he had a health physical and that couldn't happen until 6/14!, which wasn't any help for his present problem. She stated she could not give me any other solution because she was not a vet! I always try to keep the welfare of my dogs as a top priority and was very disappointed that I was given no resolution. I was, however, able to contact a groomer, who would take him immediately, thank goodness. I am so disappointed in the service of Valley Vet, a group that was my go to for my dogs. I was so secure with your team and will have to rethink using you for future pet care. read more

I have taken both my dog and my cat to Valley Vet for at least four years now, ever since Delhi Animal Hospital became the worst vet around because the founding doctors retired. At first, we were so happy to have found a very nice clinic with no waiting to get in, a nice staff, and the lovely dog park that one can let their dog play in, but we had an emergency with our dog on morning, which happen to fall on the 4th of July. They receptionist didn't think that our dog's eyes bulging out of her head was an emergency. They discouraged us from trying to get an appointment. Then we took the dog there for lameness in her back leg, and saw a vet (who's name I can not remember) who was very nasty to us and to the dog, and actually injured her leg more by jerking it at the knee joint while holding the upper part of the leg steady, trying to prove that she had a torn ligament. She was limping for days after that, but mostly because of the vet's exam, not because she came in to the office that way. She healed on her own, thankfully, and did not have the dire circumstances portrayed by the vet at all. He said that she would need surgery and it would be $6,000 - $10,000 depending on how much of the bone was good at the joint. I was very unhappy with the place after that visit, but still gave them my business when I needed to refill the dog's flea and tick medication prescription. I called it in and picked it up at the drive-thru window. The woman who helped me couldn't have been less professional - she was at least 55 years old, but behaved like a teenage girl - more interested in Facebook antics on her phone then helping me. I was sitting in my car on a hot Summer day, idling at the window waiting for her to hand me my prescription and take my payment, and she was making me wait until she watched a video of her daughter being asked to be in someone's wedding. She actually told me this! I was charged $30 more for the medicine than I paid for the same stuff 6 months earlier. She didn't plan to give me a receipt, since she was so busy there with her phone. I asked her why it was so expensive and then she asked if I wanted a receipt. It took her several minutes to generate the receipt, which turned out to be the receipt for the previous purchase, clearly showing a date of 6 months earlier, and a lower total. Nevertheless, she handed it to me and walked away. I waited at the window to get her to come back and give me the correct receipt, again she was distracted by her phone. When I got her attention again, I showed her the date and total on the receipt and asked if she was sure that she had the correct price for the medicine. She said that was the correct price, and it took her another five minutes to generate a new receipt. As it turned out, she also never submitted the receipt along with my information, for the rebate that the drug company gives customers for this medication. When I called to inquire about it with the drug co., they confirmed that Valley Vet had not submitted the rebate for me, as they are supposed to do. They also let me know that the price of the medication had not gone up in the six months since I last purchased it, and that online pet supply stores were selling it for the lower price that I paid previously ($145.00). When I called Valley Vet to try to speak with the office mgr., I got the answering service for days on end, who tells the callers that they can't take messages, and to just keep calling back. I fear that if I ever have another pet health emergency, I will not be able to get help because it is impossible to get through to the staff via phone. How do you run a business that way, with people trusting you for their pet's well-being? Its four months later, and I have left repeat messages the two times out of twenty, that the actual receptionist answered the phone, but no resolve for the missing refund, and no concern from the staff I did speak to, for the dissatisfied customer. My cat now needs to be examined, but I am afraid to take him there after all this, and the bad reviews which confirm that other people have had similar issues there. My pup was seen by Jennifer Hamblin on Saturday night, obviously an emergency visit. So grateful for the caring, professional attitude of this vet on call. Conrad was administered a couple of shots and sent home with antibiotics. In the last 8 years, I've had two different dogs seen by Jennifer on an emergency basis and I've always been impressed with her knowledge as well as her demeanor in an emergency situation. My cat was extremely ill on a Saturday of a holiday weekend, and no local Binghamton area vets would be open again until Tuesday. She could have died by then. I called Valley Vet for emergency care and they told me to bring her in the next day. They took wonderful care of her until she was released 2 days later, including having overnight staffing to keep watch on hospital patients. All staff & vets were caring and helpful. If they hadn't been available & done what they did, I'm convinced my cat wouldn't be alive and healthy today. Will use again for emergencies! read more

I have no problem with the care that is given in this practice. I have taken our dog to them for 14 years. Lately, however, their prices have become ludicrous. A simple in-house urine test cost $79. But the clincher was after 14 years of caring for my dog when the time came to euthanize her the price was $417.95. I checked all area practices and the prices ranges from $100-$150. Needless to say I took our dog to another practice. It's sad when a practice that had such a good reputation has taken to price gouging. read more

This place was my normal vets go to emergency service. i too had actually used them a few times prior to this event. My dog had pale gums a bluish tongue and couldn't stand or breathe. we called at 1:30 in the morning for help and got Jennifer. the first words out of her mouth to my wife is this better be an emergency at this time of the morning. after we described the problem her response was that it did not seem urgent to her and we needed to wait until 8 am for regular hours. we had to take our dog over 2 hrs away to be seen and within a few days she was gone. this woman does not deserve the trust of the people who's pets she treats. i was never going to leave this feedback since this happened awhile ago but the anger i feel at how they handled this emergency and how they continue to ruin other peoples pets, some of who are customers at my place of business i felt the need to add to all the other negative reviews and reflect how incompetent and heartless they are. money was never an issue i would have done whatever was needed to save our pup. unfortunately these people have zero compassion even if you can pay the bill. stay away! read more

Horrific experience with this facility!!! Came to them with a 2 month old puppy with broken paw ( caused by sellers young child when we adopted her) they took x rays, all 4 toes were completely broken, set it in a splint, was told 6-8 weeks with weekly visits to check it or re wrap it's she grows, third week in it was wrapped too tight, toes were turning purple only a few hours after we took her home, was told we would be charged emergency visit fee, which we argued and they waived, week 5 was sedated and splint redone, upon discharge the foot appeared to be sticking out too much but doctor said it was fine and sent us home. Well it was not fine! The next day her foot was more visible and could be seen moving in the cast, called to make appointment to fix it , was told again would be charged fees to fix something that wasn't set right to begin with, I refused to pay for it, I then received a phone voicemail stating they wouldn't see our dog and not going to continue services for us and to let them know where to forward records. Now left with a puppy with a faulty cast we scrambled to find a vet to help us. We fortunately called a vet we previously used and they got us in. After going over the hell we went through we were informed that a puppy that young should heal in a cast for only 2-3 weeks not 6-8, and because it was left on too long she now needs physical therapy to strengthen the leg. So $2000 later ($800 more for the needless weeks of casting/ sedation fees) we now have to spend more time rehabilitating this poor puppy! Bottom line I think this facility was just stringing us along for the money, especially since week 5 we were told it felt unstable and we may need to discuss surgery and worse case amputation. Current vet said the bones are fine but because she was left in a cast too long the ligaments are floppy. We are furious at the care our new baby received and would not recommend anyone go there if they actually care about what's best for their fur babies read more

If I could give this vet a zero star I would. My mom took her dog in to have her eye looked at and mind you this dog was very healthy. The vet said she needed to have her eye removed because if they didn't remove it the. It could burst and kill her, well my mom agreed to this. Fast forward to a few hours later they call my mom and tell her the dogs kidneys are failing and she has Lyme disease and they need to keep her overnight on fluids because if they did the surgery she would die on the table, so my mom told them go ahead and do it because she just wanted her dog to be okay but what was weird is this dog only goes outside to go to the bathroom and has never had one tick on her and when we told the vet tech this she said you can get Lyme disease without a tick being on you. This dog showed no signs of this at all she was very healthy and happy!. Well two days later they said she was good to do the surgery so they did it and after they call and say she is doing okay, well the next day they call my mom and tell her she is vomiting blood and she can't walk anymore and said she should be put down. We left the vets a few hours ago and had to have her put down because these people butchered the poor dogs eye, it looked like a kid did the surgery on it and she was so stiff and out of it. This poor dog had been put through so much. Then the vet walks right in and wants my mom to sign some papers and then has the nerve to say here's your go to the front desk and pay it. Not one person in this office said sorry for your loss or a thing they were more worried about getting paid then they were this poor dog. So my mom gets stuck with a $6,000 vet bill and a dead dog. I hope you really think about taking your animals here! They should be shut right down! read more

Just got my dog back from this Vet 03/17/2020. He ingested and chewed a flea and tick collar the night before. $1300.00 in less than a day in this place. No stomach pumping involved. 4 redundant charcoal treatments in less than 20 hrs. Injections pushing unnecessary blood work for other things when they knew he swallowed a collar. Right before my eyes took them 3 tries to even find a vein.These people make used car salesman in a red light district seem honest by comparison.I will NEVER EVER be abused by this Vet again. I have had animals all my adult life ( I am a Canine Breeder) and I am 65 now. Barr none the WORST Experience ever with a Vet Clinic. Lied to outright by the Desk help who told me the night I went in and paid $560.00 that the next days invoice would be way less. Next day bilked me for another $702.70. No anesthesia, no operation, just legal mayhem of their customers. Shop for Vet Services elsewhere unless you like being taken advantage of. The staff that took care of me were curt, rude and outright liars. Always trying to sell the blood work, these people are, both night and day. Must be easy money in blood work. read more

Do not go to this vet. I would drive my pets as far away as needed not to go here - even in an emergency. It is VERY expensive. I have been to other vets and never have I been so overcharged. However, that is *not* my issue. I took my cat on a Sunday due to an emergency urinary issue. My cat is 15 and I was questioning the need for various blood work (after I was told the blood work was something we could do, but didn't need to). The doctor said exactly this to me: "I have to do the bloodwork before I can treat him. I don't want him to die in my arms. You may want him to, but I don't want him to." At no time during our brief exam did I say anything about wanting my cat to die. I left in tears. I absolutely could not believe someone could or would say something like that. And the cost? My cat was there for 18 hours, treated for a simple UTI and I paid $800. That was with a "professional discount" of $164. Seriously, I hope you read this review before going there. I will drive to Albany or Binghamton in an emergency next time. read more

After many trips to different vets with my sick cat, one place keeping her for a week, charging me $1500 and still not having any answers, I took her to Valley Vet and after a 5 minute exam they were able to diagnose her with feline stomatitis. The symptoms are a perfect fit. Although the treatment is very expensive I was told they don't allow you to make payments, but they are working with me on keeping her on medication to keep it under control. The next time I have a problem with one of my babies, I'm going here first! read more

They could not save my puppy's life but I don't blame them no one might have been able to. They tried and it was very expensive but I got to say good bye and that was worth more to me than anything. They were there for me when I needed them and let me pay the bill in installments "not many places would do that" because it was high. They were very comforting in my time of pain and even sent me a sympathy card in the mail. The front desk staff was overwhelmed and somewhat disorganized, but this could / should have been remedied with additional help. I waited more than an hour to get my dog who came in early in the morning for a dental. I ended up paying WAY more than I anticipated and this is something I feel should have been told to me ahead of time. Additional charges were added for boarding when he was there for a procedure, which baffles me. They did take good care of my hound, which I'm grateful for, but overall the experience was not stellar. read more
