The radiologist (or tech) was so kind. I appreciate his patience with me during my unplanned panic attack. Ive had 20 yrs of scans. Something changed this time, and I couldn't finish the MRI. (I'm so sorry, again). He just sat with me and helped talk me "off the ledge." The man who helped reschedule me to the open MRI location also went above and beyond. To the sweetest front office young lady who gave me gluten free suckers to try to help me stop crying, thank you so much. It was late in the day. No one had to even bother humoring me. But they did. I am so lost in the shuffle of medicine. I'm sent from place to place to place without making the progress needed to live a full life. Twenty years of it. I'm tired. I absolutely love the staff. A WHOPPING BIG thank you to Julie who did my Mammogram and also to Jocelyn who helped with my biopsy and ultrasound, the most sweetest and gentle people. You all are so kind and caring. Also, a BIG shout out to Dr. Allen Nalbandian, who was so kind and walked me through the procedure during the process, even to ask if I needed anymore numbing to help with pain. I cannot imagine why people say negative things about you all. They seem to truly care about their patients. Got told they couldn't make apt. Would call at soonest apt open and never did. 4 months latter's still try to make an appointment.

I don't know what is going on over there, but I had an ultrasound done on Sept 3rd and I still don't have any report yet. When I call they tell me that their system is down (an outage they said) and can't give me a time or date estimate for when it will be fixed. I know it's always been difficult to get anyone on the phone when you call or you get stuck in the queue and then it hangs up on you or you get the voicemail recording, but this is unbelievable! I finally said screw it and made another appointment at another facility to have my ultrasound re-done because I don't think I'll be getting my results anytime soon. It really sucks that I have to do that and inconvenience myself when the scan was already completed once. Maybe they should think about putting a notification on their website that they are having system issues or something. The patient portal doesn't work at all. read more

They claim "15 minutes" for x-rays. I came in at 1:30 and I to wait till just before 4pm to get xrays that took less than 10 minutes. Why did it take so long? They claimed they were unable to validate my insurance but I had my insurance call them and yet they still claimed they couldn't validate it. Do we need to bring written proof our policy is current? Their Escondido office had no issues locating my policy was active and that still wasn't enough for them. This isn't the first time this has happened with Valley Raidology either. They had over charged me multiple times in the past for similar reasons. Horrible experience and absolutely the worst customer service ever. They were friendly but clearly they haven't learned from their past mistakes which is aggregious. Go somewhere else if this happens to you. read more

This review pertains to scheduling an appointment with Valley Radiology. The front staff at both facilities are decent. The radiologists are kind. The issue I have is trying to call and schedule an appointment. I don't know if the people you schedule with are not on site and are through a different company? I was on hold for 20 minutes the other day before I spoke to a person. I called back today and was on hold for 10 minutes and the person still couldn't give me an answer and schedule an appointment and said they will call me back. I'm dealing with a separate person today who doesn't seem to know anything about what I talked about with the person the other day..I would think there would be notes in my file, but it sounds like no one is on the same page or they don't note what has already been discussed with the patient. What's most frustrating Is that anyone I have spoken to can hardly speak English! read more

Valley radiology scheduling is horrible. I couldn't understand that lady on the phone. It took forever to answer all the questions. Then I asked to speak with someone else hoping I could understand them. She said do you want an appointment? I said yes! Then she hung up on me after being on the phone for 25 minutes. This place and their Escondido location are sh*t shows. I have been trying to get an X-ray for 2 weeks but they kept saying the order never arrived. My doctor's office submitted no less than 4 times. They rarely answer the phone. When I finally got a person, I was told no order. I asked about appointments and was told we don't use an appointment system, just walk in. I called again to verify my order was received and was hung up on. I couldn't believe they actually answered the phone. I called again and Was told again no orders when I called back and the phone was answered. My doctor's office submitted the orders again, three different methods hoping they would receive the order of at least one of the methods. I walked into the poway site, sign on the door says check in across the hall "Do Not Enter Here" on the door. I looked across the hall, door was open but sign on wall next To door say sign in suite 110 across the hall. I asked the young girl working the desk, is this sign in because the sign says it's suite 110. She asked IF I had an appointment after being told twice they didn't use an appointment system. She verified it wa sure check in for valley radiology. I waited until she was done with another patient. She asked if I had my order, I gave Her my ID so she could look it up. She said "NO Orders" and began to get snippy with me. I said my doctor's office said he sent it 3 different ways...she cut me off. And began printing something. Haha! They did have my orders after all and probably had it for 2 weeks but didn't actually look for it. I told her that I changed my mind and would go elsewhere. I Stepped out and made a call to my attorney to ask that the orders go to San Diego Radiology in Escondido. I will not patronize any company who doesn't value customer service or is rude or demeaning to customers. What companies don't understand is the low paid, poorly paid receptionist represents their company and I have the option to go wherever I choose. read more

This poway Getting an xray read took from Thursday until Monday after three phone calls and the doctor having to call to say STAT! Ankle xray fractured distal fibular, not allowing him to put weight on the injury but we didn't find that out until many days later. Trying to get a CD with out him coming, they made me drive home to get the estate portfolio to give me a CD of an ankle which is further delaying his treatment! In briefly skimming the reviews here, I see an overall not-so-good ratings conclusion, and several pretty negative reviews. These seem to be much more concentrated on the administrative and customer service end of things, rather than on the medical diagnostic side. It's almost a moot point for me, seeing as how geographically close the Rancho Bernardo location is to my doctors' offices, and that said doctors' practices default to choosing Valley Rad for the diagnostic services. This will be just one person's observations. Anyway, I have some mixed experiences to report, but one unexpectedly good one from just the other day. I had previously stopped by on two well separated occasions for a chest X-ray one doctor had ordered. Both times I found a completely full waiting room and an estimated 2 hours or longer wait time; both times I could not hang around for that, so I simply walked out and deferred to another day. That's because they have the -- I have to say *annoying* -- policy of not taking reservations for X-rays, although they do set them for ultrasound or other diagnostic procedures. For the X-rays, you have to be there, register, and wait -- from that point on. Reviewers also complained about quality of interactions with office staff, long times on hold over the phone. But when I called the Escondido office by mistake, I got through to someone in less than a minute, who politely provided some clarity as to their policies and corrected my phone number error. Anyway, on that recent visit I really lucked out: got in line for the chest X-ray, with only about a half-hour wait for that, followed up in very short order by a long-scheduled appointment for an ultrasound that another doctor had ordered. The personnel delivering those diagnostic services were professional, courteous, and seemed fully capable. One of them told me not to draw too firm a conclusion from what I'd seen in the waiting room, because people could be there for a diverse range of tests, including CT scans, MRI, etc. Not everyone was waiting for the same thing you happened to be waiting for. read more

Absolute trash. You can't call them to make an appointment because their phone system is perpetually busy with "Usually high call volume", and then automatically kicks you off after 30 minutes. The employees are very unhelpful if you go in to talk to them in person. I've just had an MRI appointment that I showed up for and they couldnt do the MRI because they said insurance hasn't approved it. Went to Valley Radiology Poway appt with an oncologist referral for specific digital imaging & ultrasound. We were immediately sent home because they pulled out some old imaging/diagnosis and said it was sufficient for the doctor. Oncologist was furious the additional digital imaging and ultrasound were not done so sent us back. We made a complaint about how the technician sent us away, didn't follow referral, and another appt. The same imaging technician tried to send us home a second time saying we don't need it done. We adamantly insisted she follow the doctor's referral this time. This place is so unprofessional. Stop sending people away. If you value your health don't come here. It's sketchy and inefficient. read more

First time I called to schedule an appointment a lady on the phone said I needed my doctor's signature in order to get a referral, for whatever reason the electronic referral never showed up on their system until a month later, when they finally called me with a recording to schedule an appointment, first time I called I was on hold for about half an hour, second time they hung up on me after an half hour wait. I was also told by my doctor to show up physically to schedule the appointment because they don't really answer their phone (like many reviews here have mentioned). There was no one in the waiting room and no one on the phone when I showed up to schedule my appointment. I would give zero star if I could based on how painful the scheduling process was. When I went to schedule my appointment in person they also asked me to fill out some forms by pen, I thought a place like this would at least have the digital system up and running (since it's owned by its own radiologist based on Yelp), yet I was asked to physically bring my prior imaging results. This is 2024, they still don't have internet? Worst of all, my appointment was scheduled for 9 and they wrote on a piece of paper "check in 8:45 am" when I went in last time to book my appointment. When I showed up at 8:50 am and had to wait for 3-4 people in front of me, they said I was late because my appointment was scheduled at 8:45 and I was supposed to show up at 8:30. So they proceeded to cancel my appointment. What a waste of time for both scheduling and going! Worst of all, they wanted to charge me $244 copay on the spot, I was never asked for this much copay any place elsewhere. When I wanted to set up a patient account online to upload prior imaging reports, the selection under race had only white, black, and brown, I was forced to make a selection before proceeding. So not only is this place incompetent, disorganized, too lazy to pick up their phone, greedy, and it also discriminates! I would never give any business to this place, doesn't matter how good the radiologist is! When they called to confirm the appointment, they also said $0 is due at the time of the appointment vs $244 that I was told today. read more

Been coming here for years. Yes, there was a $90 co-pay (medicare doesn't cover 100%) but I was told that when I got the reminder call the night before. Appointment scheduling takes a while. I think this was a month out when I made the appt. For the appointment, I got there early, got checked in and taken back for my CT scan within 15 minutes of the appointment time (which in general is to be expected- since I'm sure some scans can take longer). I'm aware of ALL the negative reviews, but I've found the folks here to be courteous, kind, patient and knowledgeable. A reminder that they are doing at least 4 different types of scans... so while mine might not have a wait time, other scans may. Perhaps those that had a good experience don't take the time to leave a review- since it's "expected". I thought I would add a positive for this group, because that's what I experienced. read more

The cluelessness and incompetence continues at Valley Radiology. To make an appointment I waited on hold for 90 minutes. There were 21 other callers ahead of me. Of course they tell you as you waste time waiting on hold that you can leave a message but I mean really? Do I trust that anyone will actually call me back? No I don't. Finally. I talk to Chandra. I book an appointment for today at 12:45. I go. I wait in line for ten minutes. Ten minutes. And then guess what happened? I was told my appointment is not until 3:00pm. For those of you scoring at home that is 48 minutes from now. Who changed my appointment time without notifying me? Why did I waste time yesterday waiting on hold on the phone being told incorrect information? Why does Valley Radiology think so little of me as to again waste more of my time today? I had an appointment for a Dexa exam this morning, I'm driving from Lakeside to Poway...traffic at that time of the morning is horrible..I make it on time tho...once in the office I went to check in, only to be told the Dexa machine is down !!! Their phone system is the worst of all possible platforms. Being placed in the answering line is like being stuck in the waiting line to hell. "You're number eight in line" all the way down to number one in line and" you are next, standby for an agent!" Plug in scent diffusers in healthcare setting is unacceptable. 1/3 of the population react negatively to them, they are filled with toxic chemicals and have no place in a health care setting. Horrible! I called on a Monday and the machine said I was the 29th caller. No option to have them call back so I waited and after 45 minutes someone answered . I thought great, now I can schedule my MRI. WRONG! The lady said she was taking names and numbers and someone would call me back that day or next day. Again, wrong! I called on Wed and Friday having the same experience both times. In my last call to them I complained about the long waits and no call backs . I asked what was going on and the woman told me they were making spreadsheets on how to call people back. Something is terribly wrong with Valley Radiology. There's an obvious reason for all the one stars. I had to wait 3 months to get this appointment. All my insurance was submitted at the beginning. They called me the day before my appointment to confirm, as well as texted me confirming with the address, time etc. I arrived at the appointment only to be told they didn't get authorization yet from my insurance, but said if I would like to pay upfront for it, I could, otherwise my appointment was cancelled the day prior when they called to confirm with me. They also offered if I would like to call my insurance for authorization I could but I still needed to pay upfront. I was told when scheduling they had pre authorization. I have an HMO and never run into this type of problem with places in my network. The young ladies at the front seemed inexperienced how to handle anything with insurance nor be able to offer any additional help. Do not rely on this place for your appointment. I wonder if the technicians get a lot of hugs, because seriously... I wanted to squish that guy with the biggest bear hug when I got out of the torture chamber...I was so happy to be out, I wanted to kiss the floor and scream "Hallelujah!" All joking aside, I wanted to give a review because as uncomfortable as getting an MRI on a wounded shoulder is, everyone was so kind and they made it as painless and pleasant as possible. I had an evening appointment, and they were right on time with my appointment, I was greeted and treated well. And the waiting room was calm, comfortable and clean! When the technician came to call me back, he was just so sweet and he could tell I was probably somewhat terrified and he just made it as great of an experience as possible! I do have to laugh, because I have heard from first responder training that in an actual crisis you tend to just instinctively react or default to your first level of training, and being in an MRI machine, the only thing I could remember or do or think was to start singing childhood Sunday School songs, so there I was trying to calm myself down, praying in that tube and singing "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!" over and over again, and when I got out I jokingly asked the technician if he could hear me singing, and apparently as noisy as the machines are, there must be sensors inside there because he could hear everything I was saying, praying, and singing! Again, I cannot emphasize enough how much everyone was kind and I literally am reading the reviews on Google and I have no idea what place these people went to, but it couldn't have been Valley Radiology in Poway because I had zero issues on the phone, I had zero issues in getting an appointment as quickly as possible, and zero issues with cancellation or miscommunication, zero issues in the waiting room, and zero issues with follow-up care or payment. Everything went perfectly! Best yet, because they know my pain levels are pretty much off the charts and we are probably looking at a rotator cuff injury, the results will be processed and sent over to my PCP very quickly, within 24 hours or less! I can honestly say, as this was my first MRI and I didn't know what to expect, everyone went out of their way to make a very frightening and painful test (because of my shoulder pain) as calm and comfortable for me as possible! I would give 50 stars if I could! Thank you Valley Radiology and everyone involved that helped me get through this test to start my journey to full shoulder recovery! read more
