Plus you can find some fruits and vegetables that are not found at other stores. As most items are not organic and from other countries, make sure you wash everything well. Best to come right after produced is restocked. On Saturday morning at opening they were just cleaning out produce and beginning to restock so perhaps come after 8am. But the guy that help us was very rude and making unnecessary comments, we thought ok he might having a bad day. But later I saw him speaking to a Spanish speaker lady, and was very nice to her. Simi Valley is so lucky to have this place! This store offers many things that you can't find at a typical grocery store. Such as cactus fruit and varieties of plums and figs. A large meat counter that sells whole fish. A large selection of Middle East and Indian foods and seasoning. They also have a smaller but good selection of Asian foods, including Philippine foods such as lumpia. They dont have a large range of Latin American foods, but that's okay because Vallarta is close by and their selection is also amazing. Their frozen foods department is also filled with delicious Indian, Persian, and Asian snacks, great if you're looking for something different to serve at a party. (Try the falafels) They also have a large deli and many baked breads. I really love this place, it's a haul for me as I live way on the east side but worth it to shop here, even if it's to pick up bags of delicious assorted nuts and crackers mix. read more

I bought some chicken breast today as it was a great price. It was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy, same way I always make it. However, it was like rubber when I bit into it. Best market in Ventura County. it's so hard to find ethnic food here but this place has made my shopping life a million times better. I make a lot of Syrian, Greek, curries, and Asian food. They have 90% of what I need. Not bad odds! The produce is terrific. This place is a drive for me, but so worth it. Their prices are really really good, especially for someone like me who's always buying produce at Costco and Ralphs and paying much more just because it's more convenient in terms of location. They have another location in the valley that I go to sometimes, it's closer to me than this Simi Valley one, but I don't like going there because it's crowded and not as clean and organized... Well, it's the valley so it's always gonna be crowded LOL... The few extra minutes of driving to Simi is so worth it for me. This supermarket is more organized, cleaner, less crowded, much better in terms of parking, andddddddd the part that really sold me (drum rolllllllllllllll), it is filled with better variety of Asian/Indian products! They literally have an Asian food isle and an Indian food isle. They have a HUGEEEE variety of all sorts of noodles (vermicelli, udon, egg, rice, soba noodles, and many more). They even have rice paper which I don't easily find usually. I LOVE the vast variety of asian sauces as well (oyster, fish, soy, hosin, ponzu, mirin, peanut, black bean, teriyaki, and the list goes on). They also have many types of chili oils and chili sauces, vinegars, and all types of curry pastes (red, yellow, and green). And most importantly, a CRAZY variety of spices and fresh+dried herbs. HUGE PLUS! The produce is extremelyyyyy fresh and clean, and always placed neatly. The cashiers are always nice and efficient/fast) so I never wait too long to check out no matter how many people are ahead of me in line. 5 stars for grocery inventory 1 star for meat counter stinkin attitude 4 stars for checkout Friday, 2 December 2022 2:00 pm visit. I'm just going to be real, here, and state that this establishment's customers are an international melting pot. I'd say about half are Latinx, with the balance Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, and white. I don't recall seeing any African Americans. If you're in a minority group within the microcosm of society contained within this store, you might want to grow a tough skin before entering. Many of the customers are rude, rude, rude. White hate from fellow shoppers in an multinational environment doesn't surprise me. But from store employees, racism is unacceptable. The sale flyer had a good deal on boneless chicken leg meat. There also was supposed to be giant squid meat. I'm a little slow sometimes; it took me a while to catch-on that I need to pull a ticket out of the machine at the meat counter. A youngish lady called, "Number 21?" Happily I called back and put my hand up, "Right here!" She gazed at me, paused, stepped back from where she was standing, then stared down to the left as she just stood there doing nothing. It's as if she counted to 50 before deciding to serve me. After that uncomfortable pause, she walked very slowly to me, and just stared through me. So, I said I'd like a pound of the chicken. She answered, "2 pounds?" I answered, confused but with a smile, was that the minimum? (What did I miss?) Again, an icy stare. So she dangled a small piece and said, that's a pound. I'm old enough to be her grandmother and have been preparing chicken since I was allowed to cook. It was more like half a pound. It was clear who was in charge here, so I said, OK, two pounds. (Whatever, it was only $1.79/lb anyway.) She threw the first piece on the scale, then added another piece. It came to 1.45lb. She didn't bother to go back to the case and add more, to arrive at the suggested 2lb. Then she wrapped it up and tossed it on the counter, turned, and walked away. I didn't dare ask about the giant squid. I couldn't anyway, she was gone. Aside from the beyond-rude meat counter, the stockers need to really watch their mouths. This is SoCal folks. Many of us speak Spanish. That said... Spices, spices everywhere. When you first walk in past the booze department, there's a wall with cellophane bags filled with just about every herb or spice you can think of. Want green peppercorns? Right there next to all the other colors of peppercorns. Want dried whole tiny rose buds? They're there. But wait! The first time you come to this store, you'll do yourself a favor by walking every. Single. Aisle. See, the store is organized by origin. So, if you want a gozillion choices of Masala, head for one of the three Indian aisles, and feast your eyes. Each aisle representing each region has its own additional spice selections. The frozen section is quite a trip. Need phyllo? There are stacks of multiple varieties. Need Aji Amarillo? Yep, some cooked, some whole fresh frozen. How about samosas? Many prepared choices... or stuff your own. How about frozen corn on the cob? Not just any corn on the cob. How about the kind with huge kernels for an amazing Pozole. Or, what could you do with blue or red corn on the cob? Are you a fan of Pastitsio? If you've been laying little ziti pieces in your pan, head for the Greek-Italian section and choose from a few varieties of 10" Zitoni. But for noodles, don't limit yourself to this section. You'll find yam threads in the Korean/Thai/Vietnamese section. Do you need rice? Just remember, there isn't one rice section. Decide what country's rice you want. Sticky rice? Japanese. Risotto? Italian. Basmati? Indian... The produce section was not real special to me. I liked their deli containers of peeled garlic. Very fresh. The aisles are a bit too narrow to navigate around the (rude) shoppers who park their cart to the left and select from the right, effectively blocking the entire aisle. It wasn't worth the aggravation to take a close look. I homed in on the Chinese eggplant for $0.99/lb though. I've been to this store only once, but I can tell you it's nothing like Vallarta Market. Vallarta is more like a city. Valley is like a trip around the world. If you're looking for grape leaves for your Dolmas, or a jar of huitlocoche look no further than Valley. I left the store at about 4pm and can surmise that it was one of their busiest times. The lines extended into the aisles. I lucked out and was plucked out of my line to be the first in a new line. The young male cashier was very courteous. He bagged my items thoughtfully and placed them in my cart. Despite the ugliness at the meat counter shopping here is awesome. I'll increase my rating to 4 or 5 stars if that chick is GONE for good next time I shop there. Enjoy! read more

I love this store mostly for its selection and prices but now I have even MORE to love about it...... They support the mandatory mask requirement and a uniformed security guard is at the entrance to ensure compliance. I went to Vons to grab something and almost immediately ran out in fear as it because apparent that they let mask-less people in without a second look... they were everywhere and their ignorance as well as their thoughtlessness towards their fellow human beings is disgusting! So I do 95+% of my grocery shopping at this store now. It is well worth the drive across town to avoid the idiot stores. read more
