My parents have been bringing their dogs to Little River for years and years and if it's good enough for my very picky mother and her very neurotic dogs, then it's good enough for me. Years ago, they had one incident where one of her dogs had to be rushed to the emergency vet, and they stayed with him well into the night and didn't charge her anything extra. Talk about amazing service. Even so, I wanted to check the place out for myself. When I called and spoke to Vinny, one of the managers, he put a lot of my concerns to rest and then scheduled me for a tour. They have plenty of fenced, outdoor play yards and heated/ air conditioned buildings and change bedding daily. You have the option to bring your own food, and you can also use the food they have there. Little River also offers more individualized options, like walks in the woods, one-on-one fetch, cuddle sessions, and more. Best of all, they offer a complimentary bath prior to picking them up. We are going out of town in April and can't take our furbaby with us, but I know that he will be in great hands at Little River. **Photos in this review were taken by the Little River staff **

The former owner, June, also ran a rescue operation called Ziggy's Friends that places dogs with forever homes. A caring, compassionate place for your dog!

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG AT PAWS INN THE WOODS, GRAFTON OHIO…read more My dog died because of the carelessness and complacency of the kennel staff at Paws Inn the Woods. My retired working dog has been boarded periodically at this kennel for years. He was never allowed to have blankets or toys in the kennel for his safety. This past stay, they put not one but multiple blankets in his kennel and admitted to having zero accountability of blankets or toys in general. They do not pay attention to how many blankets they put in and certainly do not pay attention if any become missing. Not even two days after having him home, I noticed he wasn't acting normal. He was trying to vomit and was struggling to poop. We took him to the Vet immediately, where they found he had a serious obstruction in his digestive tract. They performed emergency surgery and removed the material, which ended up being nearly a whole quilted blanket. Tragically, he ended up dying shortly after surgery due to the severity of the surgery's impact on his system. This was a healthy 8 year old GSD living out his retirement after years of service to this country which was tragically cut short due to a completely preventable incident. When I spoke to the owner of the kennel, she told me three things that broke our hearts even more. 1. She insisted this kind of thing has never happened before at her kennel. Which, after many years of working in pet and working dog kennels and professionally handling and training dogs, I know is not true. Dogs eating things is a very common thing in a kennel environment, which is why it is so important that the staff monitor and keep accountability of exactly what is put in each dog's kennel, if anything. 2. She said she had no idea how or when it happened. When I spoke to the kennel staff, they were immediately defensive and straight up told me they put not one, but multiple blankets in the kennel and had no idea one was missing because they don't count them. They said they don't have time for that. 3. The worst thing the owner told me was that she had no intentions of changing the way she ran her kennel and said she wouldn't lie to me and say she would, just to make us feel better. She was unbelievably unempathetic and offered us nothing in the way of an apology or anything. It is also important to note that while I had this conversation with the owner at the kennel just days after the loss of our dog, I witnessed another dog in an outside run tearing apart the stuffed dog bed that was in the kennel with him. When I pointed it out to her, she said "Oh he does that all the time, he doesn't eat it." She did NOTHING to stop the incident as I literally witnessed the dog pull mouthful after mouthful of stuffing out. For the safety and well-being of your beloved dog, I strongly discourage using this facility to board your pet. The owner and two staff members are lazy, and complacent. Keeping track of what goes in each kennel and making sure it comes out should be a priority at every kennel, among other important things that keep the dogs healthy and safe. For my dog, that lack of attention to detail cost him his life. I am speaking out to hopefully save other dogs from the same fate.

I normally don't post stuff like this but I am beyond upset…read more We went out of town for the weekend for a short trip (Friday afternoon came back early this morning) and boarded our 3 boxers with Misty Meadows in Valley City. When I dropped them off, I gave her everything super organized. Food, toys, medication. Everything labeled etc. bc that's the kind of person that I am. She said right away she was going to put them all in the same area as a German shepherd, I advised and requested she keep Zelda, our female separate because she can be particular about other adult dogs and protective around our other two boys. When I picked Them up this morning, I asked how they were and she said good.. and then said "well Brixx ... the black one kinda went after one of the shepherds" and I said "no that's Zelda" right away. She didn't even know which dog was which. Not only was that a problem, and the fact that she put Zelda with other dogs... like I specifically said not to, but she messed up my two dogs.. Why is that a problem? Zelda has heart disease and needs daily medication. So I assume she gave it to the wrong dog which she insisted she didn't but she didn't know who was who. So clearly not. She also ignored the question several times when I asked if she mixed them up so I can seek proper medical attention. Which I am doing anyways. I took my dogs and left immediately- upon arriving home. Brixx was extremely sick. Vomiting, explosive diarrhea, not himself. And Zelda along with not getting her medication, has a deep puncture on her ear/head that could use stitches. So she was bitten by another dog. I hope all of this resolves quickly and nothing else pops up with any of my dogs from this horrible experience. I could give a shit about posting my experience at a restaurant and a burger and service that wasn't great ... but these are like my children and this is completely unacceptable. I'm sharing so that none of my fellow animal lovers ever have to experience the same.

My puppy is all boxer, as sweet as can be but very attached to me and very energetic. We brought him to the barn with a harness on because he pulls. I was told to take the harness and leave him with a collar. Fast forward to picking him up 10 days later. We go into the barn to get him and she just lets him loose. Then continues to stand there as I try and get his harness on, on a very excited puppy!! I thought that was strange but ok. Well, we get him home and he's coughing and gagging. I take him to the vet and they assumed he had kennel cough, I put him on antibiotics and after awhile his coughing went away but not completely. Two months later I brought him back for the day while we went somewhere. She has me bring him in her house this time and has me remove his harness. As I am leaving she grabs him by the collar and holds him up as he is trying to get to me!! Then she screams in his face that he's hurting her!! As I left, I realized what I just saw it became clear. That is why he was coughing and gagging after the last time! I hated to leave him but I had somewhere I needed to be. When we picked him up she said he dragged her from the house to the barn and she tied him to a post for awhile. Needless to say he again was coughing and gagging for days. My opinion is she does well with calm well-trained dogs. If your dog is not she is a nasty person. Whenever I think about how my dog was treated I get so upset. I can't imagine how much trauma she caused by pulling on his collar and probably holding him in the air. He stills coughs occasionally when his throat is pressed
