Spent a week inpatient as a Veteran. Excellent service. Would recommend. Felt respected and was treated as a Human.

I went to ABTRS in 2016. I have been to several rehabs over the last decade (this is.a testament…read moreto my issues with substance not an issue with the rehabs themselves). ABTRS was the ABSOLUTE worst. I watched the Drs belittle and humiliate one patient that they then 'kicked' out of rehab that night who left and od'd in an alley... oh and did I mention she was 17, SEVENTEEN never should have been allowed to leave without an adult Supervision. Many years after I left they sent me to collections with a 24,000 bill even though my insurance ALSO paid out everything that was billed to them. Then several years later as we were filing for bankruptcy they sent their shady attorney to my bankruptcy lawyer spouting some action they were taking against me that if I didnt pay them would result in me not only NOT being able to file bankruptcy but NEVER being able to file bankruptcy again... Unfortunatley my bankruptcy lawyer sucked and came to us telling us we had to do pay them.... we had to take out a 401k loan for $17k (again they were PAID BY MY INSURANCE)... to get them to go away... oh and then in my next bankruptcy hearing (of course after they had received the $17k)... the Judge was LIVID and went OFF on their lawyer... saying what they did to me was highly unetchical and immoral and who the HELL *judges words to them* did they think they were that none of my other creditors were getting anything but due to bullying, immoral and REPREHENSIBLE behavior and bullying (again words of judge) they received a check for $17k. The judge said that he was disgusted by their immoral tactics and bullying preying upon people that were vulnerable searching for help. Yep, ABTRS is money hungry... and AWFUL to their clients.... I would NEVER recommend this treatment facility.

I did detox, inpatient rehab, outpatient and live in their independent living apartment. The facility is very nice. They supplied food the whole 10 months. The staff are all wonderful kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I would definitely recommend going here to help with alcoholism or addiction. Thanks ABT for helping me get my life back on track.

The fun inspiring house manager they had initially QUIT and went back to California. Seems they just hold residents up in houses and collect $. I would do my homework if I were you.

While I was supported for those months…read morethrough a scholarship for housing and my insurance covering my treatment, there were various issues behind the scenes. I can genuinely say majority of the staff care deeply about the clients, but the director and owner of the Embers really discard you when you're no longer giving them insurance money. I was led on to believe that I would have a position as a "lead" at the Embers sober living house, which included free housing. With that in mind, I graduated on Monday, November 3rd. I come to find out on Tuesday, November 4th that I didn't get the job and I needed to "come up with an exit plan" by the next day (Tuesday Night), I was told they needed the beds. I did enjoy the community I established with the other clients and with that being said I was informed that there are currently 2 empty beds in the house. I was mislead and left to fend for myself. I was told that Zac was working out a sober living for me to go to and that he would contact me. He had no idea what was going on and he wasn't working anything out for me. My family and I are very frustrated and disappointed with how the Embers treated me in the end. They definitely need to get their act together.

Calvary Healing Center is the place I have chosen to do Detox and residential Rehab twice now…read more(don't take points away from them for my relapse.) It's one of the best if not the best program in Phoenix. Jade is by far the best therapist I have worked with in my 49 years on this planet (33 of which have been spent in therapy of one form or another). The BHTs are all standouts, but Sarah (one of the recent hires), Paris, Louis - who really should be a clinical therapist, and Josh were spectacular. Sarah was particularly delightful to interact with, and bent over backwards to make my time there as comfortable as possible. Most are a little sassy because they too were addicts, but ultimately they are there to give back, and they do. They all have different rule sets which can be a little confusing, and us addicts try to manipulate them any way we can, but they were exceptional in their care. Carol, Mario, and the night nurse, Angie were the standouts at the nursing desk, my care there was amazing during both stints, and this one was better than the last trip, though things have been locked down more than my last "vacation" at Calvary (it is the opposite of a vacation, you are in non-stop programing from 8am until ~9pm if you are doing everything you are supposed to.) This is the place to come if you want to get sober and stay sober. It's not bougie, it doesn't have the best view or the best beds, you won't be petting horses or starring in a pamphlet with an ocean view. You won't have all the nice accouterments some places offer, and it is a pretty strict environment (not having your phone can be particularly jarring for some people.) It's not a luxury resort, but it is a superb place to get your mind off drinking/using and get back to thinking about what matters in your life. It's the place to get things back in order and work on yourself with brilliant supervision. The food is great, but don't come there for the food, it's the program and the fellowship you will develop with the other addicts there trying to get a handle on their own lives you are coming for. It may be the most valuable experience of your life, try to approach it as such, it may save you. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Dr. Halligan who has 0 bedside manner and acts like you have rudely inconvenienced him every time you interact with him (daily when you are in Detox, weekly in Residential) he is a troll who has no business working at this facility. The other doctor is brilliant and delightful to interact with so Halligan is incredibly jarring when you suddenly encounter his blatant disregard for empathy, but you don't have to see him for long and hopefully he will be replaced shortly (if doctor Mwangi could take over his shifts, the world and certainly Calvary would be a better place. Dr. Mwangi is beyond exceptional and I liked his brilliance so much he is now my psychiatrist!). Yes Calvary highlights the pool on their website, no you will not be spending much time in it. This is a class/lecture/therapy heavy program Jade designed to drill sobriety techniques into us addicts with the short time she has with us, the schedule will feel brutal at times, but that is because they are trying to cram as much information at you as possible in the hopes that some of it will stick. If you are ready to do the work to change your life though, this is the place for you. The first time changed my life, I just made a wrong turn in the process and turned into an alcoholic when released to the outside world for too long without engaging in the supervision I had just learned I needed (don't make my mistake, all substances are addictive to us addicts, don't trade one for another and end up doing two stints in Rehab! The second trip will be my last, but I cannot express how life changing this place can be for those of us who no longer can live with the torment of constant abuse and lives crumbling from the wear and tear abuse puts on us. Calvary will help you, all you have to do is show up at their doors, do it for yourself and your family, you are worth it (and they will teach you that.)

If you love your loved one you WILL NOT send them here! They do not engage the family, provide a…read morediagnosis, make you have to go get prescriptions and provide no sound follow up plans because they want you to just come back. Stay far away from this horrible understaffed place.
