For the record, it should be West Campus High School, not Hiram Johnson West Campus High School. We…read moreseparated ourselves from Hiram Johnson Main years ago, but for some reason, we're still associated with it. West Campus is its own school with its own independent scholastic program and achievements. This review is based on my experience at the school from 2003 to 2007, when John Becker was still the cool principal and vice principal Howard Mahoney struck fear into the hearts of students as he roamed the hallway with tedious dress-code checks, implemented during fall 2006. The school itself used to be a middle school campus, so it's smaller than your average high school. There's a few hallways and a portable classroom by the field on the edge of campus. Lockers were replaced sometime during 2005. Each class has about 200 students, all of whom must apply to the school. The selection process (which may have changed?) requires recommendations from middle school teachers, an evaluation of the student's standardized test scores, and copies of the standard forms and school transcripts. If you have a sibling already at the school, you have a higher chance of being admitted. The school lacked a football field. Instead, we had a huge baseball field towards the back of the school. Tennis courts were later built. The marching band pwned all :] I loved the music program at the school and it's all thanks to Mr. Ousley and Mr. Hernandez :] thank youu! There are bunches of clubs and sports for extracurricular activities. (I LOVE BAND!! WCMB!!) I adore most of the staff at the school. However, as with most administrations, there are a few disagreeable members :X Like what Kirsten said with her review, look at the college admittance rate for students from West Campus. They're all prepared for success in higher learning institutions.

Am i seriously the first to review here???…read more Take a look at all of the scores and rates about the students who go here who get admitted to college.... This school rocks. Each graduating class is about 200 people so it's definitely an intimate high school experience. The teachers really care about the students and are involved in their lives. If I ever (probably more likely that pigs would fly) have children and I'd want them to go to as fantastic of a school as this!

I attended Albert Einstein Middle school from 2001 to 2003. The change from being a sixth grader,…read morecarelessly roaming the playground to being a lowly seventh grader in a big new school was difficult for many of us. However, the school provided many programs and extracurricular activities to help ease the transition. MUSIC/EXTRACURRICULAR: I was an orchestra kid. The orchestra was a lot smaller, but we managed. Instruments were provided for students. The teacher was patient and taught us the essentials of reading music while teaching us how to play the instruments. We'd perform at a few music festivals during the year. From what I remember, the band program had a lot of support from the school and parents. They were well-funded and they performed in Disneyland in the spring. There were a lot of clubs on campus, too. You could always find one to cater to your interests and hobbies. ACADEMICS: Academics were rigorous, at least, for the classes I had. I think class placement was based on standardized test scores, because we had the equivalent of honors classes. My teachers were amazing with the level of enthusiasm they displayed to their students. If anyone has had Mr. Green, you knooow what I mean! A lot of my favorite teachers transferred to Rosemont High School in 2004, so you can find them there!! :]] FOOD: Before the health craze started in 2002, the cafeteria had chicken wings, fruit snacks, cup-o-noodles, Its-Its ice cream, more ice cream, chips, and soda. The hot food was the usual stuff served in all the school districts. Then BAM!!! Everything disappeared to be replaced with baked chips and juice. I understand the concern for eating healthy, but when you're an adolescent, it just suuuucked. The chicken wings were always super delicious. I weep for their loss :[ TREATS: Seventh grade trip to Country Club Lanes. Eighth grade promotion trip to Six Flags. We also had the typical school dances in the cafeteria. Overall, Einstein provided a safe environment :] Two years at the school passed by quickly and before I knew it, i was off to high school! :X

i've promoted from this school last month. from my experience, i would say stay out of drama and…read morefights, dont get TOO involved in situations, and what i honestly gotta not leave out is the fact that some kids bring a vape to school. around 5 months ago, my friend and her other friends from A or B track brought a vape and blamed it on my friend. their side was taken, my friends was not. including that friend, me and her teacher in 5th grade said that my 2 friends were trying to impress and get boys, for shirts and pants not dresscodable. the shirts were fine, they are not shoulder showing, belly showing or chest showing. they were PERFECTLY fine. the pants were not too low, they were at the perfect jeans distance. the teacher said that, causing my friend to move schools. some of the fights can be stupid though, one fight was over a boy, the two people that 'fought' were back friends the next day, then those two were arguing before promotion, massing reporting each other, blocking, etc etc. then they go back as friends, acting like nothing happened. the other friend even forced one of her friends to stop being friends with a girl they were super close to. most of the drama can be stupid/really dumb, just stay out of it and you'll be fine. one teacher DID snatch my friends phone away from her, saying shes using it in school, after the bell rang and were out the gates, meaning she was not on school grounds. this school was okay, i've been here since kindergarten, the experience was great but not that great. you'll get snitched if u do bad stuff though. but now, i don't believe you guys should get out at 1:45 on early outs. i get kids are tired, they dont like long school days, but honestly, discipline them more. some kids talk bad about teachers behind their back and the teachers dont do anything. overall 7.8/10.

The vice principal Mr. Pham makes inappropriate jokes about girls. My sister came home and told me…read morethat she was playing with her friend's hair and Mr. Pham told my daughter not to touch "animals". Not only that, I attended this school before and I wont lie, the teachers are really good they're amazing and super nice but the vice principal should NOT work there anymore he should be fired. Whenever I had issues with other students or I needed to report something to the office he would choose sides. I had an issue with a girl in my class and I reported this to Mr. Pham and he called both of us into the office and he very clearly was choosing favorites. He would make jokes and say that I was being dramatic and the other girl was new to our school and just wanted to be my friend. If you want to be friends with someone you don't make up rumors. He said that I needed to prove to everyone that these rumors weren't true. Who would say that to a 13 year old? He's supposed to help deescalate the situation and he just added fuel to the fire. This isn't the only issue I've had with Mr. Pham but this review is already getting long. Do NOT put your child in this school if you care about whose running the school. The teachers are great but that man Is a horrible person. He used to make jokes about how his wife was "hot and sexy".
