For the record, it should be West Campus High School, not Hiram Johnson West Campus High School. We…read moreseparated ourselves from Hiram Johnson Main years ago, but for some reason, we're still associated with it. West Campus is its own school with its own independent scholastic program and achievements. This review is based on my experience at the school from 2003 to 2007, when John Becker was still the cool principal and vice principal Howard Mahoney struck fear into the hearts of students as he roamed the hallway with tedious dress-code checks, implemented during fall 2006. The school itself used to be a middle school campus, so it's smaller than your average high school. There's a few hallways and a portable classroom by the field on the edge of campus. Lockers were replaced sometime during 2005. Each class has about 200 students, all of whom must apply to the school. The selection process (which may have changed?) requires recommendations from middle school teachers, an evaluation of the student's standardized test scores, and copies of the standard forms and school transcripts. If you have a sibling already at the school, you have a higher chance of being admitted. The school lacked a football field. Instead, we had a huge baseball field towards the back of the school. Tennis courts were later built. The marching band pwned all :] I loved the music program at the school and it's all thanks to Mr. Ousley and Mr. Hernandez :] thank youu! There are bunches of clubs and sports for extracurricular activities. (I LOVE BAND!! WCMB!!) I adore most of the staff at the school. However, as with most administrations, there are a few disagreeable members :X Like what Kirsten said with her review, look at the college admittance rate for students from West Campus. They're all prepared for success in higher learning institutions.

Am i seriously the first to review here???…read more Take a look at all of the scores and rates about the students who go here who get admitted to college.... This school rocks. Each graduating class is about 200 people so it's definitely an intimate high school experience. The teachers really care about the students and are involved in their lives. If I ever (probably more likely that pigs would fly) have children and I'd want them to go to as fantastic of a school as this!

Best Catholic High School in Sacramento!!…read more It truly is a "Enter to Learn and Leave to Serve".... The students get a well rounded education, academically to prepare them for college...a true college prep high school. It is also a great environment for the students to interact and create a special bond with each other and their teachers that will last forever...... Tuition is not cheap but we personally made sacrifices in our personal life to ensure that our children had the very best environment for their education. Some stuck up people from those other schools say that CB is not in the best area of town but they do not look beyond and see that Christian Brothers gives so much back to the community....especially in Oak Park and the Sacramento Food Bank. Go Falcons!

We recently went to Christian Brothers High School for an end-of-season track meet, and I can…read morereally only speak on the track and field facilities, but overall everything looked super crisp and clean, almost brand new. I really appreciated that they had stadium seating because it made viewing the events so much easier and more comfortable compared to some other schools we've been to. One thing that really stood out was what looked like a brand new timing display near the finish line. As each athlete crossed, it showed their name, time, and even whether they hit a personal record. That was honestly really awesome to see and made the whole meet feel a little more exciting and professional for the kids. The snack shack though was a little underwhelming. I definitely wish they had more drink options and more actual food available. Hot dogs, nachos, or even just a few more snack choices honestly would have sold nonstop during the meet. I did appreciate that they had restrooms available and they were clean, which always makes a difference during long sporting events. The biggest challenge for me was definitely the parking. The parking spots are incredibly tight, and I was not about to risk door dings, so I ended up parking farther out near the gate entrance and walking over to the fields instead. Helpful tip: If you're driving a larger vehicle, parking farther out and walking might save you some stress. Overall though, the actual track and field area was really nice and felt very well maintained, and that finish line display was such a fun touch for the athletes and families.

Peter Burnett Elementary School - I'm unsure why the principal gives out business cards with an office number when no one returns calls.

Let me start by saying I've had my child attend this school for the past two years and I'm really…read moredisappointed in the lack of management from school administration, not protecting children from buying "stuff" from the back of a truck that parks right by the school bus gate, or buying drinks as well as unhealthy snacks from the seller pushing a mobile fruit cart. You know, the ones with a huge umbrella and visible cut fruit. Firstly about this truck, I did not write down the license plate number but I approached the front office three times and told the 2 elderly receptionists that my child was being short changed by $7 cash each time that truck parks next to the school. This truck is open for illegal business selling "stuff" that includes assorted American and Mexican candies (maybe containing Lead) as well as not providing a visible business license or reporting tax information to the bureau. I told the receptionist I wanted to talk to the school principal and the receptionist simply said "I'll take your number and name down and pass on the information." I never got a phone call from anyone. I REALLY DON'T KNOW what these people are selling in the back of their truck but I've noticed its being sold by adults displaying unsavory character playing annoying loud music. At one point I came back to the front office and I asked if I should call the police. The same receptionist said she will make sure the vice-principal walks the perimeters so to chase away these people who sell out of their trucks. The sellers are still there off and on during the week...you can see them as you walk your kid away from school where the yellow buses park. On to the problem with the seller of unhealthy snacks/drinks from the mobile cart. She has been warned about advertising her snacks/Takis and drinks on the school's sidewalk that she has moved her business to the dangerous corner of 59th street and 36th ave. (imagine lots of car passing by on a narrow street, people walking everywhere without looking both ways). I was told that as long as the seller is not near/on the school's sideway then there is nothing the school can do. The seller wears gloves but it is the same gloves that is touching cash bills and making juice drinks at the same time. There is no water station, alcohol wipes, or diluted bleach wash solution to clean her cart or hands. Other students have complained to me that this seller has also short changed them of dollars but they were too scared to ask for their change. Perhaps I need to take matters into my own hands and contact the California tax board about these small businesses evading taxes and shut them down. How long does this need to continue? Does a student need to get sick from eating unhealthy drinks made by unsanitary gloves before the school does anything? There needs to be a jump start on the principal leadership, it is nearly non-existent. I believe the teacher quality is above satisfactory. The parent involvement can be above average if we all can be more vocal about problems encountered at this school so to get the administration off their chairs and do something. PS- I even checked this school's rating on www.greatschools.org and Peter Burnett scored 3/5 stars. There is a bully problem at this urban school that even locking the front gate with a metal chain does not control student behavior or keep students from encountering unsavory adults selling "stuff aka assorted candies".

I first went to this elementary school about five or six years ago as a kid, I am now a high school…read moreSophomore, and let me tell you that this elementary school has given me some of the most nostalgic and best memories I've ever had in my life. Maybe I give this school a five star purely because of the soft spot I have for it, but I digress. I would 100% recommend this school for any parent that wants their child to have a great time during school, or to give them beautiful memories of their youth. I am not sure what they are up to nowadays (perhaps I'll return one day to check up with the teachers and principal) but from my knowledge, every year at the end before summer vacation, they have a huge school field day party with water slides, food, candy, and music blasting from huge speakers, and for the 6th graders around the spring time in May, every 6th grade teacher takes their entire class to a field trip at a camp named Leoni Meadows and it's such a fun experience that your child won't ever forget about. With Zip-lining, to hiking, the environment your child will be around is Mind blowing. There is also After school programs (ASES) and the staff there is so caring as well. Want your child to enroll in summer school? Peter Burnett also provides a summer school program that shows your child a way of learning in a fun and educational way, I still remember memories I had with my classmates in summer school. And lastly, the principal and teachers there are so amazing and caring (Shout out to my 5th grade teacher Mr.Decker) and Mr.Huezo is such a great principal, the man cares for his job and does a great work at what he's supposed to do, he'll treat your child as if it was his own, and he cares for all of them despite what others might say, he's a great role model for your kid, and he'll treat them with the upmost respect. The school also provides a nursing room with a nurse that takes care of your kid, and there is also a library that has a caring librarian. From field trips, to learning, this school WILL BE the perfect place for your child to learn, and to make nostalgic and beautiful memories while also making caring friends along the way, I have a soft spot for this school as a high schooler, and I know your child will have the same feeling as well when he grows up :)
