The…read moredoctor I previously went to did not give me a dental block and instead, numbed my lips with a topical numbing solution and proceeded with injecting. Needless to say it was very painful, the topical numbing gel didn't do what I thought it would, and I vowed to NEVER do it again. So, four years later, I muster up the courage to give it a try again... This past Wednesday I visited In Shape MD, and I spoke with Dr. Shannon York about my concerns with lip injections and the last experience I had. Dr. York was understanding and very sensitive to my concerns and based on my history she suggested I get a dental block to numb the entire site. I agreed to give it a try again and as you know if you've been to a dentist and had a dental block, you CAN'T feel a thing. I spent a good 20 minutes in the chair with Dr. York as she was administering a dental block. Dr. York was very compassionate and extremely gentle in administering the shots. Given my history she wanted to make sure I was as comfortable as could be at all times and she took her time. After the dental block set in she started administering the lip injections, and I was so pleased, because I could not feel a thing!!! The procedure took about 45 minutes and by that time the dental block was starting to break -- thank goodness, because I did not want to walk around for hours with a numb face. Within two hours, I had complete feeling again and very minimal discomfort around the injection site. I would highly recommend visiting In Shape MD if you're considering any type of non-invasive cosmetic procedures, because Dr. York is a wonderful and very compassionate. It's been about a week since my lip injections, and I couldn't be happier with the look. The swelling is pretty much 100% gone and my lips look great. I am looking forward to visiting In Shape MD again for other cosmetic procedures. :P

I was unsure about whether or not I wanted to book Kybella services since I have never had any procedures or anything done to my face. The day of my consultation came around and Erin made me feel welcomed and comfortable when I told her I wanted to work on my chin area. She was very informative and gave me the run down on what Kybella was and the results I would get from it. I decided I wanted to proceed and she worked on me that same day! :) The process was super quick and I was out of there within 45 mins. She injected my chin about 10 times and she then provided me with a cold icepack to soothe the injected area. I was sore for a couple of days but it was a manageable light soreness feeling. My second visit was another great visit and it was quick. She gave me another round of Kybella and I was in and out of there in no time. She was very friendly and went over the steps before injecting my chin once again. The office is very clean, modern, spacious, and nicely decorated. Cold water is always offered to me upon my arrival. MIRACULOUS REDUCTION OF PAIN!!!…read more I have been under the excellent care of Dr. Shaw and his team since early June, 2025. I only had a very stubborn 20 lbs to lose, but I was also interested in the potential benefits of GLP-1 medication for my other health issues (pre-diabetes and high colesterol). By far my most challenging health problem for the past 25 years has been serious osteoarthritis (in all my joints), but it never occurred to me that this medicine could help with that. I wasn't aware that GLP-1s can reduce inflammation throughout the body until Dr.Shaw told that to me during our initial consult. The weight is coming off easily. But the most astounding thing about this medication is HOW DRAMATICALLY THE PAIN IN ALL OF MY JOINTS HAS DECREASED!!! I've been told for 25 years that the only thing I can do for the joint pain is take over the counter pain medication, which I'd been downing like candy just to engage in every day activities. Now, I rarely take any at all. Before I started these meds, I could barely walk two city blocks before my knees were excruciatingly painful. Now, I can walk three miles in a day before I notice any discomfort. So far I have lost 15 pounds on a relatively low dose of tirzepatide (5mg per week). I am very happy with this! I've had virtually no side effects (except for itching at the injection site at times) In the next few days I will get the results of my biannual blood work to see if "my numbers" ( A1C and cholesterol) have gone down. I'll update this when I get the results. Dr. Shaw is extremely knowledgeable, and explains how these medications work, and how to maximize the benefits and reduce the potential side effects. He is warm and friendly and not at all condescending (like some doctors are). He is extremely available - I have never waited more than a few hours if I've requested a call because I've had questions. The meds always arrive in plenty of time.
