Recently had an experience like no other. Unfortunately not a pleasant one. After confirming arrangements and a delivery date for a very VIP event I was notified the day of that the flowers had not been delivered (after the event had already started) frantic I called Valley Flora only to reach voicemail and had to leave a message. I than had no choice but to call another local florist who was able to turn around an order of the same requested arrangements and delivery them within 40 minutes. Within this time Valley Flora returned my phone call and I asked why they weren't delivered. Apparently they had the date down as Sunday. I told them I had to call another florist and I no longer needed their order. So today I am completely taken back as I receive a bill for the arrangements. I call and leave a message. I get a return phone call from Polly who tries to justify the bill because they had delivered the flowers anyway even though I said I no longer needed them. I recap the conversations as to when the delivery was to be made, the email in which I reference the date and reluctantly she tells me she will give a credit but proceeds to tell me if I have a need in the future not to call them in which I said believe me I don't plan too. Completely unprofessional and would never talk to someone like that who is trying to bring me business especially if I was at fault. I should of been more cautious considering the fact that I had to resend emails with pictures of the type of florals requested because they couldn't locate previously sent emails even though they had already responded to me. I paid Polly $3,000 to do the flowers for my wedding a few weeks ago and overall the flowers were beautiful but not what I asked. There are some large issues that I wanted to point out. 1. In the two meetings I had with Polly she was very attentive and took lots of notes. I told her I wanted a very soft, french romantic wedding with white, blush and dusty gray/green flowers. I really wanted to make sure I didnt have a *pink* wedding and I mentioned that many times in both of our meetings. The only pink I wanted was blush, almost white pink. I also gave her pictures of flowers and the colors I wanted. I was very disappointed to see not just a lot of pink, but FUCHSIA flowers everywhere. She might have been listening to me but whoever ended up arranging the flowers obviously did what they wanted. I ended up having a girly PINK wedding. ugh. 2. Church flowers: The florist did a "dump and run" - drop everything at the site and leave as fast as they could. The beautiful raw silk wrapped around my and the bridesmaids bouquet stems were soaked from sitting in overly full vases. The small Mary's bouquet was nowhere to be found so we had to use an orange and red bouquet left over from the wedding before us. The two large urns were not in the right place (literally a foot from us next to the altar) so my husband and I had to strain to see the Priest or any readers. 3. Reception flowers: My caterer was apparently left with having to do a lot of the work for the florist. Another "dump and run". More FUCHSIA flowers everywhere. The hair flower I requested turned out to be two long stemmed roses - seriously how am I supposed to put that in my hair? Overall, pretty work but extremely poor service. read more

My husband and I were married in July, 2011 at Solage in Calistoga. We found Polly through Solage and also our coordinator, Amy Thumhart. Polly was the one and only florist we interviewed, and immediately liked her. She is down to earth, easy to work with, and did an amazing job. We struggled with specifics of what we wanted for our wedding- simple, local, seasonal, mostly greens and whites, we liked succulents and we liked scabiosa pods. To be honest, we had no idea what our flowers would look like- a bouquet for me, a bouquet for my maid of honor (no bridesmaids), boutonnieres for my husband, best man, and fathers, wrist corsages for our mothers, flowers for the tables... but they were fantastic. People loved the flowers and continue to comment on the flowers, 6 months later. Polly was also extremely helpful with our seating cards (she tied herbs to each card, with different herbs indicating different meal choices), table numbers (we made them, but she set them up), and party favors (we had small Heath bud vases with scabiosa pods on the table, and each couple took home a vase). In summary, we loved our flowers and loved working with Polly. We still have many of the succulents from the wedding growing in our garden and plan on cultivating scabiosas from the pods... a great reminder of our day in July. read more

I had gone to two other florists before Valley Flora and once I got there, I knew this would be the one. They have a great selection of flowers and the woman who helped me was quick and knowledgeable. I basically walked in and said that I needed a bouquet in two days and that I liked pinks and oranges and a modern look. My elopement ceremony was in Yountville that Wednesday and they were able to deliver my bouquet for a small fee. I had a modern and beautiful arrangement of wine colored calla lilies. It was a little more than I wanted to spend ($175 total for the arrangement) but they have held up beautifully and are sitting in a vase in my room. read more

My husband and I are from Los Angeles so we had to do the majority of communication via email. Polly responds right away and is very to the point. She is also very knowledgeable about flowers. I visited several florists around the area and asked for craspedia (aka billy balls) and most florists had NO idea what I was talking about. She can identify flowers from tiny blurry pictures and knows exactly what they are and if they'll be in season. I was worried that we wouldn't have peonies for a late June wedding and she said she'd get them-- and she did! We got married at Solage Calistoga last month, and she really knew what would look good with the venue. The flowers were AMAZING. She did exactly what we asked for and more. From the ribbon she used for the bouquets and boutonnieres, all the way to the actual centerpieces themselves, everything was perfect. She even made a tiny posy for the 2 year old flower girl that was just adorable. I couldn't have asked for more. Polly really listens and comes through with exactly what you ask for. I got married on July 19th 2014. We used Valley Flora as the vendor for the flowers. The end result blew us away, Polly nailed it in terms of the decor and the arrangements. They perfectly matched the vineyard venue keeping it very natural as well as the style we where aiming for. My only slight observation is that Polly was not as responsive as perhaps we were expecting. On hindsight, I think she is a true artist and while our input was taken into consideration it probably was a little disruptive to the artistic process. My advise is to use her, meet with her to explain what you are looking for and then sit back and relax and let the her magic take care of the rest. read more

Polly did our flowers for our July 2018 wedding. While our venue had much natural beauty and many existing florals, we wanted to enhance it even more with lots of summery colors and natural greenery. Upon meeting Polly (and her corgi!) in her shop - I knew that she would be more than capable for the job. I had a very particular vision for my florals, but was unable to put it into exact words. I sent her a handful of inspiration photos and she took care of the rest. Flowers are one of those things that you'll never know how they'll turn out until day of, which leaves a detail-oriented bride like me with a lot of anxiety! Day of, I was informed that the bouquets had arrived, held my breath, and was blown away when I set my eyes on them. Not only had Polly flawlessly executed on my poorly-articulated vision, but even managed to introduce me to my new favorite flower in the process! I did not end up going with Valley Flora for my wedding so this review is based on my initial interactions. I had heard only good things about valley Flora from various vendors (venue, caterer, etc), but when I approached Polly with my wedding date and budget, she immediately told me flowers are usually 10% of my budget and could not do a wedding at my venue for less than a certain amount. I understand some vendors can probably make more money elsewhere with a bride who doesn't care how much they want to spend but it was disheartening to be turned away because I wasn't going to give them enough money without even hearing what I wanted at the venue. I ended up finding a different florist who could work within my budget. read more

My husband and I got married last year at Calistoga Ranch. We contacted Valley Flora about doing the flowers for our wedding, and I was shocked at the response we received. My mom is a florist, and, naturally, wanted to be involved with the flowers for our wedding. Our ceremony was outdoors, and in a completely different part of the property than the reception. She wanted to do a few arrangements for the cocktail tables at the ceremony site. I mentioned this to Polly, who responded: "we can not do your flowers, we have made it a policy not to do flowers for a wedding if we do not do all of the flowers, it never looks cohesive and it doesn't reflect well on our work, sorry, and good luck in your future, I would be happy to give you a referral for another florist but, everyone that I know in the area has the same rule." I found this response to be offensive and factually incorrect (I contacted a number of florists in the area that were recommended by Calistoga Ranch, and no one else had this policy). You'd think, given that this is a mother-daughter team, they would be more sensitive. We ended up going with Tesoro, where they were more than happy to work with my mom. My vision was realized perfectly, and our flowers are now the first several images you see when you look in Tesoro's portfolio on their website -- I'm glad that they thought our wedding flowers reflected well of their work. I respect that Valley Flora has a policy. However, that does not excuse rudeness and insensitivity. Brides, if you want a florist who is going to make your special day about you and be sensitive to your unique needs, look elsewhere. read more

We got married in June 2013 at Meadowood Napa Valley. The venue is beautiful, but what truly made the wedding much more amazing and memorable was all the floral arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres that Polly of Valley FLora created for us. Polly is unassuming and calming. But her creations were incredible, went beyond our expectations and were truly gorgeous. We came to Polly without a specific concept, only a few photos from Martha Stewart wedding magazine and vague suggestions and likes and dislikes. Not only that, we cut our floral budget to almost one half of what were originally planned. Yet all the arrangements were just what I would wanted if I saw them in a Martha Stewart wedding magazine. The detail, the color palate, the style were PERFECT: loose, elegant, wispy, charming, romantic, tasteful, and timeless. My bouquet was so beautiful that when I saw it I knew the wedding will be perfect. Polly delivered and arrived on time during our wedding day. She did not miss a single detail for that day: from table arrangements, chair decorations, cake decoration, and finally to place setting decoration. Nothing went amiss. We highly recommend Polly and Valley Flora for wedding and any floral arrangement. The cake floral arrangements were so beautiful I felt a pang of regret when we were cutting into it. Polly was amazing to work with. As you may be aware, there are quite a few florists to choose from, however, my husband and I chose Valley Flora because of how easy they were to work with. Planning a wedding is tough enough, however, Valley Flora made it very easy for us. I told her my vision of how I wanted the flowers to look like on the candelabras, the candles on the table, the floating gardenias and one gardenia placed at every place setting. When my husband and I walked into the Cask room at Merryvale Vineyards for our wedding reception...it was magical. We have never seen such elegance before!! It was truly amazing. We used Valley Flora (Polly) for our Cornerstone, Sonoma wedding this past Aug (2013). Polly's flower arrangements were wonderful. My newly minted husband and I just watched a recording of our ceremony and all of the flower arrangements were perfect. My bridal bouquet was stunning. I didn't picture how it would look beforehand as I'm not much into flowers - either on their own or in an arrangement. I just told Polly the color scheme and the type of flowers I wanted. And she did a great job. The bouquet also smelled lovely. The only thing I would note about Valley Flora was something my husband mentioned. As Valley Flora's forte is flower arranging, the administrative side of things (making sure the contract reflected all of our requests) took a bit more back and forth then he expected. Just make sure you double check everything that is written to ensure that what you want is clear. read more

Polly was very responsive when I was in the market for a florist. I was definitely impressed with her website and I felt as if she grasped the feel of my desired floral needs. However, perhaps I should have been more specific with my color pallet, as we were not on the same page on our interpretation of raspberry and champagne. When we showed up for the wedding, she had forgotten some of the main components, such as the moss for the alter pieces and she didn't have a solution for me. Polly was not able to send someone to resolve the problem and I was left to come up with a solution on my own. Luckily the venue was had some beautiful olive branches and my bridesmaids were able to piece something together... (however leaving no time for pre-wedding photos). All in all, I think Valley Flora possesses talent and can do a great job, just be prepared to be very specific and diligent in your follow-ups. read more

Valley Flora promised and delivered!! In January 2013, we had married at V. Sattui in St Helena, CA. My husband and I live on the East Coast but wanted to wed where we fell in love. To be honest, I was nervous about not actually being able to meet with florists and look at samples on-site, however, once I chatted with Polly via phone and email- my nerves were immediately settled. Polly is a PRO! I had sent her images via email as to what I liked and what I didn't like as far as color, style, size. The next day, Polly had sent me a very specific proposal including choice of flowers, time of delivery and the finer details. She took care of it all! The day before flying out to CA, I called Polly in a panic as I couldn't find the proper Wedding Cake Topper- I asked if she could put something together for me--Of course, Polly saved the day. When the day rolled around and we were in St. Helena getting ready, our Personal Flowers were delivered! They were exactly had i imagined them to be and much more. Beautiful creams and warm whites with lots of natural, romantic textures and the best surprise- beautiful feathers. They were stunning right down to the soft, elegant ribbon my bouquet was wrapped in. Next, when we arrived to the vineyard where our HUGE, floral arrangements were located on top of 2 oak wine barrels in front of a beautiful, Italian fountain- we were so excited & so relived. The arrangements added just a touch of drama that was needed for the romantic setting and of course our photos! And then it got better, Lisa at V. Sattui had a little area with Champagne & our beautiful cake stood. The Cake Topper as silly as it sounds was my absolute favorite part. All natural succulents, feathers, cream flowers. I loved, loved, loved it!! Polly--You promised and you DELIVERED! You are extremely talented in your design. She captured the vision that I was expecting and quite frankly exceeded my expectations. More so, you were prompt with your responses & feedback and I appreciate the customer service you provided. I would recommend Valley Flora & Polly to anyone in the Napa area for any event! When it comes to major components of a wedding or event---Choosing someone that is prompt & reliable is equally as important as their eye for design. Valley Flora is the place to call! I was recommended to Polly by our wedding venue as one of their preferred florists. I contacted her and set up an appointment to meet. I filled out her questionnaire and returned prior to meeting. I am not planning on having many flowers for my wedding. I just needed some greenery for the center of the table and a bouquet for myself and my 5 bridesmaids. I assumed this would be about $2000, so I put that as my budget. Polly replied with "I'm sorry we will not be able to assist with your wedding as your budget falls below our minimum, thanks again and good luck in your future". WHAT?????? Such an inappropriate response....Polly didn't even take the time to inquire and get more details on my wedding. She just assumed it was too little of an amount of money for her. Honestly my wedding flowers were so simple, it would have taken no time and cost her nearly nothing. But I guess my $2000 wasn't good enough for Polly. I replied to her email, only to get a response saying " our min budget is $2500". So Polly was willing to turn away a potential client over $500 instead of just working wit me. Maybe I would have been fine paying $2500, but she didn't even give me that opportunity. She could have called me to discuss. Instead she just turned us away via email. Polly word of advice.....PLEASE STATE IN THAT YOU HAVE A $2500 MINIMUM so clients just won't contact you. I feel like I dogged a bullet with this one. After reading the Yelp reviews it appears Polly isn't that great of a florist as well. I am excited to get my flowers from a real florist who appreciates their customers!!! read more

We had to write to say what an incredible job Polly at Valley Flora did for our wedding. We live in So Cal and relied on internet research to find a florist in Napa. After contacting several florists we weren't overly impressed with any of them. Either the quality of the work wasn't what we were looking for, they were too expensive or told us our job was "too small" for them. One florist we wanted to work with wasn't available but referred us to Polly and we are eternally thankful. We met with Polly briefly and gave her an overview of what we had in mind and just a few photos. We knew from the work shown on her website that she was extremely talented and we didn't need to give her too much direction. What she created was breathtaking! Our colors were deep wine/burgundy, ivory and gold. The arrangements and bouquets were stunning. The selection and quality of the flowers she provided were perfect. We used Valley Flora for our wedding and I really wish I could give them 5 stars, but I can't. We're based in LA so we couldn't see any mock ups and did it all via phone calls and emails. I was pretty specific about what I wanted however and the centerpieces and bouquets came out looking amazing. The only hitch we had was partly their fault, partly the fault of the coordinator; the corsages and boutonnieres got all mixed up. I had asked for 6 boutonnieres and 4 corsages but somehow my husband was fitted with one of the corsages during our first look shoot :/. The groomsmen also had the wrong pieces until after pics were taken. I was too in the moment to notice until we were already underway with the portraits. clearly they weren't well marked and the coordinator I guess wasn't helping make sure everyone had what they needed. Eventually I think it got squared away, though since I just got back from my honeymoon im not even sure the moms GOT their corsages. At least I do know my husband was fitted with the white rose for most of the shots. not a huge mistake, but one that will irk me whenever I see the pics taken before I noticed the error. Overall: Gorgeous arrangements, bouquets and centerpieces, but you'll want to make sure they label EVERYTHING instead of placing them in a box and hoping that it gets sorted correctly. read more

Amazing customer service! I spoke to them over the phone and they were very happy to walk me through what they had in stock and what they could put together in my budget. They then delivered them to the restaurant on Valentine's Day and had them on the table when we got there. The bouquet was beautiful... The only reason I am giving them 4 stars if because the glass vase was chipped a little and one of the flowers was missing quite a few pedals. Thank you for the awesome valentines experience!
