I researched her grooming company from Facebook reviews. I made the best possible choice! My dog not only looked gorgeous and clean but smelled like a freshly bathed dog for two weeks! I visited this store over the weekend, really looking forward to adopting a bird. Before driving an…read morehour, I called ahead to confirm if they had birds for adoption or if it was just a supply store, as I was specifically interested in that. The guy I spoke with said yes, they do have birds for adoption, but didn't clarify much beyond that. I assumed it would be like a Petco-style place where you can meet and adopt birds. When I arrived, I was shocked by how dusty the store was and how poorly maintained the cages looked. The birds' habitats seemed depressing and unsuitable -- definitely not the kind of environment where birds should live. When I asked about adopting a bird, I was told flat out, "THEY ARE NOT FOR ADOPTION." I was confused because didn't I call to ask that? And they said yes? Then I asked, "Neither of them?" He said only two types of birds were actually available for adoption, and those were the same birds you can find at Petco. If I had known this, I wouldn't have driven an hour I was specifically interested in African Grey parrots, which they had but not for adoption and since they are not available at Petco, I thought they would have one there for adoption. We were looking at the birds and we were never told "if you are interested in adopting these are available" which I would've appreciated. I decided to go to Petco after which is 5 min away from my house! and got a jenday conure bird there. Anyway, I ended up buying some sunflower seeds for a bird I already have at home, but he wouldn't eat them, which was weird because those are his favorite. It turned out the bag was expired, which explains why. Overall, this place felt really poorly managed, especially regarding the birds' living conditions. They desperately need better habitats that allow the birds space to stretch their wings and have a more natural, healthy environment. I do not recommend this place.

I asked to you work here and immediately noticed his t-shirt said something about "aquarium" and duh, of course he does. With a big smile he said, "Go on in! It's great!". Went in and from the cold dry Seattle November weather it immediately shifted to tropical 95% humidity and 82 degrees. The glow of aquarium lights filled the air, the calm karma of light, plants and fish filled the air. Very calming, absolutely no smells, quiet and peaceful came across. This store isn't a fish store although there's fish, it's more of a plant for aquarium's store. Every aquarium had loads of different plants, fish galore and the staff super friendly giving me an introduction to plants and their care and feeding. Very fasicnating store and people that love aquarium's and plants, almost seems like a cult facination. Really loved looking and I can see how people get hooked on this hobby.

The Washington Ferret Rescue &…read moreShelter was a fantastic resource in pointing me to the best veterinary care available in my area, and all-around being available for after-hour emergencies, care questions etc. If you've ever loved exotic animals, you know how valuable this resource is. After making a lifelong connection to the rescue when I relocated, I became a volunteer myself over the years. The rescue is fully run and operated by dedicated professionals, animal rescuers, and animal lovers. I am so grateful to have made this rescue and all of the people who make it part of my own adopted family here in Washington. I now "fospice" foster for some of the rescues unadoptables. To keep the shelter open for adoptable pets, and really get behind "no ferret turned away", and remain a no-kill shelter, a lot of the shelter's more complicated kiddos are hanging out with so many of our volunteers, enjoying the final years of life in a home. This is truly a wonderful organization that centers the animals first, always.
